We've managed to get our hands on a Samsung Galaxy S3 before the ship date, so we thought we'd use the opportunity to try to answer any questions you have about the phone.
In the spirit of an Ask Me Anything, we'll be answering as many questions as possible for as long as we can. We've got a wide range of accessories to play with as well, so if it's related to the S3 we can probably answer your question

Does the SGS3 get hot when you use it some more?
Do you have to put up with the annoying "scanning media" thing making the reboot to ready time longer?
nice and thanks for your efforts!
check the device for build flaws, especially all those that the HTC one x suffers from, e.g. display ripple effect with normal, NOT hard, touch on the sides like seen in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2mcIM4i3Xk
also see if there's any kind of flickering on different brightness levels, mainly lowest brightness.
Is there any evidence at all of the multitasking issue the HTC one day has?
How about the number of cores in the GPU and their clockspeed?

Not yet, running some benchmarks now and will report back. It does seem a lot better than the S2 as of now.

Reboot to ready time is really quite impressive, a lot better than my Galaxy Nexus.

can you use the sgs3 to comb your hair?
seriously is the sgs3 a fun mobile?
Hi
Would it be possible to post some images of the phone in the Samsung flip cover? does the cover stay closed with magnets or is it just loose.
Many Thanks

Yes, we sell a special comb accessory that is perfect for hair care on the S3. It may be just a comb duct taped to the Galaxy S3, but I assure you it's the best hair care accessory found on any platform!

Actually I would like to know this as well, I keep the phone in the same pocket as my wallet, I don't want to order a flip case, find out it has super strong neodium magnets and have to rearrange my pocket contents to keep the phone away from my credit cards.

No magnets, stays in place well without 'em.
Have a look at the video here: http://youtu.be/TrnW1jooFcQ

Do you see wake-up lag? When the phone is in deep sleep (screen off, no apps running in background, not charging, not connected to USB) and you press home button, how long does it take before the screen comes up?
Yes, it takes about a half second longer to wake up than the Galaxy Nexus. It's still not very long.

Interestingly enough, I looked into that. The "rear flash pack" the guy is talking about doesnt exist. The static image at the beginning of the phone with the back off is PHOTOSHOPPED to show an LCD on there. Yay, he touched an app on the screen that "turned on the lcd"! I could disassemble an lcd flashlight and tape the contact point, battery and lcd to the back of my phone and duplicate this video. I could even put an icon on my desktop to press too, just to make it look nifty! Notice how nowhere in the video does he show the back of the phone ON video in good light.
Oh, and very interesting that people have been asking the guy for the link for his "rear flash pack" for almost a year and hes given 0 responses.
Theres no proof of concept there. You know how ridiculous a mod like that would be? Not only would you have to have the knowledge of the circuitboards to solder the lcd leads on, but you would also have to know android well enough to know how to activate those specific contact points. Hell, we cant even figure out how to crack the rogers coding yet, what makes you think that someone out there figured all this out?
EDIT: Heres proof:
This is the "picture" from said video.
Increase the image to biggest size and notice the following:
-The LCD holes arent round.
-The LCD holes are PIXELATED
-The LCD holes are drilled right through a flimsy metal clip under the battery door. Look at it on YOUR phone and tell me how thats possible without the clip breaking into pieces and falling off.
-the rim of the LCD holes has obviously had the burn tool in photoshop applied to it (notice how its darker around the edges than any other part of the phone.
Oh, and the coup de grace: THE PICTURE IS AN UNBOXING PHOTO FROM THE PHONE'S RELEASE LAST SEPTEMBER. You can see the G1 box and all of the box contents on the floor right under the phone!
Well.. that brings us back to square one, ill bust out my nikon as soon as I get my phone up and running again, ran into some minor (i mean major) technical difficulties.

Has anyone actually seen any leaks or photos (besides the one on the microsite) of the Samsung Galaxy SII with the "Samsung" logo in front?
I wondered the same thing. Also
the one without it on the front, had it on the back.
Did they remove it from the back, on the one that had it on the front? I never really paid attention to that.
But I think it looks way better without it on the front.
Agreed, it looks much better being all clean in the front.
But again, unnecessarily the same subjected thread is created while this discussion is already going on elsewhere.

I am creating this thread specific for people to post any retail device leaks/shots. It is dedicated only for this so members can come and see it all in one place.
When someone gets their hands on a retail SGS2, we'll hear about it. Don't you worry about that.
Until then, just wait and enjoy the Youtube videos being found from time to time.

I'm sure many of us are looking for proof these "Samsung front logo" devices actually exist. No worries, leaks will definitely turn up before release date. And here is the thread people can post them in.
I really hope the final version won't have the logo on the front.
Maybe they just photoshoped it for promoting reasons on the web? Who knows...
I wonder whether there will be front panels available like there were for the iPhone 4. That would be pretty interesting, although I am sure not many will want to disassemble their device to replace the front panel.
I'm hoping when GelaSkins have the stencil cut out for the SGSII it'll have a part that covers the front, as well as the sides and back, so I can have a nice design of my choosing all over the phone! Samsung logo be damned! (Not really, I don't mind it that much, but GelaSkins look awesome.)
Ehh, most probably Ill just toss invisible shield on it and use a leather pouch with it.
Keeps it safe, and continue to flaunt the device when in use.

Just wondering if anyone has bought a desk stand for their Transformer, any to recommend? I've searched and although I didn't see one specifically made for the Trans, there are some universal stands available.
I don't want the official keyboard attachment, thought I'd better mention that just in case.

I think I've seen that one in a search result, how do you find it for stability? I'd hate to have something that's easy to topple.
There's loads on Amazon but none particularly cheap. Cheapo option is to use a picture frame or plate stand. Sounds stupid but they do the job. It's not like you'll see them once the pad is on it. Either that or you could make one yourself if you're handy with tools, and don't burn down the house.

That thing is stable as a rock! I put it every where... I even keeps my TF upright when it's standing on the mattress at night! It has padded rubber feet and the same rubber at the part where the tablet rests so it cannot slip easily. Well worth the money and it's foldable....

They will have to replace it until it doesn't have the rings or refund your money, so what's the problem? ? Mine doesn't have the rings,
So there must be plenty that don't, to use to replace the bad ones.

The problem is that I wanted to see other affected screens but you have something against it.

out of curiosity have people been able to take them back months after purchase? I got mine in July it had the ring a day or so later, took it back, got another, and just yesterday i noticed i had the rings when slightly pressing on it, and now i'm guessing it's only a matter of time before it shows up....naturally i do not have a receipt any longer and not sure i'll be able to return it to best buy without it or because it's been so long???

Funny thread, lol. Can see some people have it worse than mine. I'm in the uk with a us model too. I know there's a few threads about the problem but I am amazed and somewhat comforted by how many people have the issue. I am using the Samsung book cover which could be making this worse.
Took mine back to Curry's, the manager said all models had it, even their display model. (I had the 16GB black model, and got a refund.)
Then ordered the 32GB white model, and so far no newton rings, I will keep getting replacements if it manifests again though, for something this expensive, it's only logical to expect something perfect and free of fault. Cosmetic or not.
there seems to be an inherent manufacturing defect in the screen of the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1, in that it develops an oily slick / newton rings( just google newton rings oil slick galaxy tabs and you will see the extent of the defect ) ,when the tablet has been used for approximately a week , this does not affect all the tablets but around 45-60 pct. are affected , I have written to Samsung uk asking for a change under warranty , they have refused saying that because I bought the tablet overseas they cannot repair it .
I may understand some of that , if it was a warranty claim , however as a manufacturing defect this becomes too much ! , I am NOW trying to assemble as many people as possible to mount a legal case against Samsung uk , as they are refusing to repair any tablet that was bought outside their territory and they have known about that defect for a while now
if anyone is interested please let me know and I will send you my pm

I just ordered mine from Amazon Prime. Will get it Saturday. This is the only case at the moment that is a legitimate, size wise. Not the International version cover, like some on eBay have.
Mine did come in today! Sorry for the crappy pics

Are you running around with it in your pocket just so you can pretend you've got it already?
If you haven't used a TPU case before, a hair dryer can come in real handy if you want it to fit a little more snug.

If it fits a little loose, heat it up along the edges and it will help with minor manufacturing defects.
Haha, no, but good idea I didn't realize quite how large its gonna be though. Its gonna be nice to have all that screen, but I'm thinking 4.3" is gonna be the max for me. I was pleased with the captivate, but it got stolen so here we are going to the next best thing.

Next best thing? THE best thing. Does it have a notch on the side above the power button side (right)? I don't think the AT&T version has that. The International version does though.
No, it doesn't have a notch there. Btw, I'm bake from Android Central in case you didn't get that by looking at the same case pics on both sites

Ahh, no wonder, yes I got the pics that you posted there.
I'm trying to get this forum all educated from the Android Central forums.
No kidding. I felt the same when I held the inspire. Basically everything is huge compared to my dinky HTC Aria
So going to be glad to toss this in a couple days!

Haha, yeah. Good luck with that. When I had the Captivate it was like noobs (nothing wrong with being one, we all were at one point, I still kinda am) would just flock here and clog up the Dev section with questions that could be answered by the thread above theirs.
The incipio fits. we got them in our store
