I am having problems with the clock app crashing using Saurom mod RC7.1 I read through the entire thread and nothing suggested there worked. One particular method was the delete the clockpackage.apk from /system/apps using a root file manager with one I downloaded from the thread.
However, I cannot overwrite the existing clockpackage.apk, nor delete it, or modify it in anyway.
I tried using a number of root file managers, but for some reason they don't have root access I guess.
So I am a bit stumped.

Can you use root explorer?
If not first you need to update superuser or download super su.
Once your in root explorer you will see a grey box at the top that may saw R/W or R/O that puts you in read mode or edit mode. I think R/w makes it re-writeable.
Now you can paste the apk into the apps folder and replace it
"Since God created man, and man created the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note are like a gift from God, Randal!"
Can someone post that .apk clock file?

Its in one of the pages of the saurom thread you might have to search for it on a desktop or through a browser on the phone
"Since God created man, and man created the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note are like a gift from God, Randal!"

You have to sign up for the beta using the swype website. You will download the new installer. Before installing you have to uninstall the old swype and olds swype installer. You can either do this via titanium backup or delete the files using root explorer. Once this is done reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache. Then install the new swype installer and follow instructions provided by swype. Enjoy!
Hit thanks if I helped!

Yeah, it was in the GENERAL section.
Here is the original thread. It also includes the changelog.
Here is another thread I made on Swype for the ideal settings (for me)
nice, thanks for the heads up

Yes. I actually looked you up after post #2 and saw your post on swype settings. I am using them now & seem a little smoother. Thanks s!
Do you have to install the Samsung keyboard to use Swype? I am new at this and just flashed to trigger 2.7.2. Thanks.
Never mind, I figured it out.

can someone do me a favor??
I need this file for it to work..
GIVE THIS ONLY IF YOU HAVE UPDATED/NEW VERSION.
Go to system/lib/ using root explorer or astro
there, find a file named "libswypecore.so"
copy that
and attach it here
thanks in advance

The swypecore file wasn't found in the lib directory but I searched and found it using Root Explorer in data/data something:
This is up to date as of earlier today when I signed up for the BETA and installed it.

I accidentally deleted clock (not the widget) but ClockPackage.apk. Now when I try to reinstall it, it won't work, saying that app not installed . Is there something special that has to be done to get this work? Thnx in advance

If your not rooted just flash the rom you are using again and all will be stock normal again If your rooted use root explorer and get the file you deleted from a custom rom and paste it back
I would go for the first option as its easier

Forgive the noobiness as well here. I somehow managed to remove one of the clock WIDGETS that displayed time battery life and weather (the ONLY one that has the battery life bar go figure) thinking it was the accuweather widget. Now I can't get it back ... ?

hi all, this is my first post ever in xda after a few months of silently read and do...
bricked the ace on the first month...because i was trying to be a smartass when few options to root and modding where availiable... anyways.
im no dev, and have no knowledge of programing whatsoever besides what i learn in the internet, most of it here, thank you all for that.
my question is (maybe very simple):
i know i can, in a rom like jusadas ice cream, that is, has he says, "barebone" use root explorer to put apk's in the system»app folder, but my question is, will these apk's be reconized as part of the rom (wont uninstal in the "normal way" like the factory apk's)? and if so, what kind of permissons do i need to change (if i really need to do anything)
thanks in advance and sorry if this problem has already been asked but i searched a little (i really did) but this is a bad day and i havent had the patience to search like i've been doing for the past months (reason for this be my first post)
thank u all continue the good work, many like me thank you guys
For other apps to work like a system app:
-Change permission to rw-r--r--
-Change single and group ownership to root

Back then CodeROM.NexusAce had Root Explorer built in as system app, and hasn't lost root too. Maybe it's only ES that's affected.

Perhaps so
Maybe it's the action. I use titanium backup to move.
it looks like my question brought to light a sinister and unkown phenomenon wich might leed us to assume that every ACE is a singular unit with a mind of is own

Hi, everyone
So i rooted my Player 5.0
And downloaded root explorer so i can chage the build.prop to be able to modern combat 3
I did it on my Other player 5.0 but this one woudnt work Could Someone tell me what im doing wrong
I changed model from YG-P70 to GT-P1000
And also if someone does have the official stock build.prop i would love to view it.
Just to make sure i didnt delete a line.
Thanks!
the problem is you named it to "GT-P1000" you have to name it to "GT-I9000" because that is the name of the Galaxy S
Use this app http://bit.ly/HQG34V

What do you mean? the Galaxy S is the most similar phone to our Galaxy Player... The Player is like a Galaxy S without a GSM modul...

Ensure that when you save build.prop, root explorer is set to R/W and not R/O. Reboot your device and try to download MC3 again.
i just use "build.prop Editor" from the market. worked fine.
anyone have this app....i just pull out from note 1 & install it on my note 2 but cannot install....put it on /system/app/, reboot still cannot....

Great
How about editing your first post, uploading the file somewhere, and putting these instructions underneath?
That would help a lot.
Thanks
Here is a link for the Samsung Mini Diary, let me know if you have any problems.
Oh by the way, this can be installed as mentioned above our you can simply install it as you would any APK by simply double double tapping the file after you've downloaded it.
