If there is please tell.me were to get it. And how not to break my SGP when flashing it.
-Thanks Harry
there are some CM9 (ICS) based ROMs in development for the 5.0 player, but they still have issues to work out, and there is nothing CM9 or ICS related for the 4.0 (they are working on that now) and there is flat out no known development for te 3.6 and 4.2 players.
So see where you fit as you didn't mention which player you have.

What's the status of an ics port now that there is cwm for the u.s ago 5.0?
Seriously? You think CWM is going to bring us ICS?
CWM is probably 1% of the work required to port ICS. ICS may not even be possible.
CM7 is more likely, but even a CM bringup to a device is tough.
People need to realize that a bringup of a newer version of Android on a device that hasn't been released for that device is almost unheard of. Even AOSP bringups for a device to the same version as what is available often fail (see Bluetooth on many CM7 ports to Samsung devices.) The GalaxyS ICS success is the exception not the norm.
I know its tough but there is still the possibility of it happening even cm7 would be great on this device
CM7 might happen... I'm not sure if I really have the time for it though.
ICS is highly unlikely unless Samsung upgrades the Player to ICS. Keep in mind that even when not trying to version-jump, I believe that CM7 doesn't have working hardware accelerated video playback on a lot of devices that have it stock - An annoyance on a phone but a killer on a dedicated media player.
Do you think its possible to port touchwiz 4.0 on the device? Is it faster than cm7?
are there any roms for the samsung galaxy 3.6inch mp3 player?

This really doesn't belong in development.
Please post in general if you have nothing to contribute to the Development section. Thanks.
thread moved. not development
It was just announced today, and Amazon claims to have it in stock? Interesting... since the Galaxy Player 4.2 will be available for pre-order on May 4th and in stores May 13th.
Let's hope they're usable with some ICS love but, if not, can't fault Samsung for trying I suppose. Nobody else is bothering with the iPod touch-competition market, might as well be them.
since the device has a 480x240 screen resolution. that might make some custom roms and modified apps such as touchwiz 4.5 harder to port over to the device and I also think a lot of market compatibility issues will happen.
the screen resolution is what makes the device more different than the other galaxy players.
As said by br0adband, don't expect ROMs to come out for the 3.6 right away. It took like 3 months for a ROM to come out for the 4.0 so it'll be a little while.
Is there a jelly bean 4.2 ROM for the atrix 4G?

The latest I believe is 4.1.2 and I'd recommend EPinter. He is really good about keeping his releases up-to-date. (weekly updates if not multiple updates) I have used his ROM as my daily for a long. Stable as a rock, even without HWA, his rom is smooth and pleasant to use.
Also, I believe most of the Atrix developers and users are concerned with a better kernel than newer releases with broken libs and HWA.
Edit: If all you want are the keyboard and camera from 4.2, they have been ported and work with Epinter's rom.
Keyboard bug
Sorry but 4.2 keyboard hides when longpress erase key :/ i don't know how, but it simply hides like a bug...i will try with otrher lenguajes since i use spanish. do you know if it was actually ported to spinter?

Hello, first an explanation then a question...
I'm pretty experienced in installing roms, etc.
The video camera is broken in Jelly bean 4.2.x for the samsung galaxy note i717 (att).
Several other models too.
I'm really really disappointed because that means i'm going to have to go back to ICS.
I spent many many hours working on this and can only get low quality fuzzy vid that doesn't even play back.
Many others have had this issue as well, but I can't find any word on a fix.
yes, i've installed the latest GalleryGoogle.apk
i'm using the Liquid Smooth RC8.
If anyone can provide some info, is anybody working on this problem etc, that would be great.
Also, is it possible to get the older ICS camera app working with JB ? I kind of doubt it.
I did install MX camera but it showed the same behavior. it wouldn't even record...
I've tried to post to the developer section for Liquid Smooth i717 but I'm "Not allowed to post there"
So this is the only place i can post...
any info is greatly appreciated.
i guess it's back to ICS then. bummer.
Since all the developers creating JB roms are working with a base rom that isn't from our phone, the video board and camera hardware are not an exact match. So on our phone no video.
Until samsung releases a JB rom for this model/hardware, there will be lingering issues.
Download ucam from play store records video fine on JB
sent from my lovely phone....hmmm wait its a tablet...waaa i dont really know.....im PARANOID NoW!
or a 4.1 camera apk
Thanks for the responses, have temporary fix that works.
Hi All,
Well after a ton of mucking around I've found a kludge.
Firstly the ucam is weird. i think it leads to what the actual problem is. in ucam you can only select either 176x144 or 1920x1080. That's it. It defaults to 176 because the note doesn't support 1920... this leads me to believe that the internal software/drivers are not recognizing the right 'pins' for the note i717 camera... interesting.
What worked for me was to go to 4.1 jellybean . I'm now using Gubment_Cheeze_v3.4.
After finally getting that setup, the included 4.1 camera works. Takes very nice video.
Note that I tried to use the 4.1 camera in 4.2 liquidsmooth, but it kept crashing, rebooting, etc.
I tried ucam as well but same behavior in 4.2.
Now, after installing Gubment I installed the camera 4.2 apk and it works too, but not for video.
but that's ok because i can do video with the 4.1 camera and cool picture stuff from the 4.2 camera.
good enough for now!
it's been a while since i updated my rom (or been on this forum) and am curious what works best. i am more concerned about everything being buttery smooth than having the latest and greatest from aokp or cm. however if one or the other of those is running well i'd love to do that. so yeah, what are you guys using these days and how is it treating you?

Bump.. I just picked up one of these and am interested in the answer to your question
Been using [ROM] AOKP(Jellybean 4.2.2 )Task650 (3.19.2013) (WIFI ONLY) for a day and everything works even my samsung keyboard dock. Really impressed with it, before that I had Task650 ICS Rom for the longest with everything running smoothly and no crashes. Netflix, Direct TV NFL ticket and others worked with no issues. I don't think you can get the Tasks650 ICS Rom anymore since he only supports his newest releases .

sounds pretty good. thanks for the info.
I've personally always enjoyed Infamous ICS, and the latest CM10.1 builds have been great. Try any of the recent ROMs and see which one fits you the best.
I've been experimenting with a few ROM's lately.
So far, imo, the best has been. CM10 (4.1.2) and Infamous ICS 3.0
Smooth and responsive all around. CM10 is Jelly Bean smooth but doesn't have the Samsung stuff....
