I am on Energy 4/27 ROM. I noticed (on many occasions) that my screen will come on by itself and stay on (which is a huge battery drain of course). Has anybody experienced the same thing? If so any word of advice on cause and resolution.
I noticed this even when the phone is just sitting on the desk without being touched (so it is NOT like it was in my pocket where I can accidentally hit the power button to wake it
One thing in my setup that may have anything to do with it (though I doubt it) is the fact that I do not use lock screen at all. I installed "No Lock" app to disable lock screen all together.
I am suspecting I have some app that is misbehaving but how would I go about tracking it down?
Thanks for any insight or ideas on this issue in advance.
P.S.
I tried to search for this but did not find any similar problem postings (though it is a difficult one to search for due to too general words in description).
I noticed the same problem, haven't had it since I have started using different roms.

Do you mean you have had the same problem on Energy ROM but do not have it any more since you switched to a different ROM. If so which one are you on now? Thanks.

Guys,
Greetings!!
This is relatively very new app less than one day old on market, please give it a try to download and install it.
Here is the info:
App Name: Voodoo Carrier IQ Detector
Where to get it: You can download thi from the Android Market
My tests show there is nothing sort of carrier IQ thing on my rooted stock ROM.
Its been said about a dozen times that our phone does not have this.
Lol whats up with all the carrier IQ questions all of the sudden. Did some news network run something about it or something?!?

Yeah, when the galnetmiui thing happened threads were closed fast. But every day there is a few new threads in the General and Q&A sections. Where are the mods now?
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
When the galnet thing happened, I think Zelendel did one blanket thread search for Galnet (doesn't take much time) - if someone had created a new one it probably could've gone undetected for a bit.
Nuking existing threads using a search term takes a lot less time than whack-a-mole.
I normally don't report threads when people are lazy and don't search for breaking Rule #1, but the CIQ spam is getting out of hand....
Can someone tell me who this CIQ guy is and how does he make my phone smarter?
Wink....wink....

I wish this forum had some sort of detector that would tell you very quickly if something you're a post has been already posted.
Oh wait it does, it's called the search button you imbecile!
Posters... Search before posting, or from here on out, i will do more than just closing these threads..
I just got a tbolt, havent rooted yet, but i cant get anything to download from the market. Anyone have any suggestions? Ive cleared all caches, data, rebooted phone, factory reset, and im stumped. Thanks in advance.

Most likely because:
1) You wanted an answer on New Years
2) An answer within 8 hours (goes with #1)
3) The fact you're not rooted makes what you are experiencing something that should not happen and really few options to fix it.
4) The rootzwiki thunderbolt forums are generally more active, but if you need instant answers and "OMG I CANT WAITTTT IT'LLL KILLL MEEEEEE," then I suggest going on IRC
I would root and install something else (another ROM) or return the phone and complain to verizon about it.
yeah, it just seems like your best option is to root or return it, considering it's brand new and you already tried a factory reset. I would probably return it...who knows what's causing that issue on the stock firmware, or what issues it might cause on other ROMs.
are you able to download to the phone from other sources, or is it definitely just the Market?

Fine answers.
1) just got phone
2) was 700 miles from home
3) this was second post
4) this is the q n a section, is it not?
5) ive been with xda for a long time, if you look at my past, you see helpful posts, not smartass answers like yours.
If you didnt have a decent solution, then dont reply.

Not to start a war but your 2nd post seemed smart ass to me. Also sounded like a slight knock to the forum as well.
Sorry no one could be at your hands and feet groveling with answers, but as pointed out to you, its the holidays and people have things going on.
more patience and maybe asking the second time in a nicer tone might have helped...

So i didnt ask nice the first time? Also, this was not my first post, the other got no answer also, so when i post 2 questions, nicely, and get nothing, well it makes you wonder. Ive been around these forums longer than some of the mods, ive never seen that in all my time here. If my post offended anyone, i do apologize, but as far as people doing things, well it wasnt like i was just sitting at my phone, i was taking the wife and kids across 3 states to visit family and traveling in a car 1500 miles. Thats why there is an xda APP. You dont need a pc.

Ooooooooooook, I think we're done here.
Has anyone else been experiencing these issues with this rom?
1. Wifi tethering failing:
Is there anything that has to be done to enable this? I looked for the tethermanager file to delete with Titanium, but it looks as though the rom may have already taken care of that.
2. No call history:
The call history remains completely un populated no matter how many people call.
3. Inaccurate battery statistics:
Claims that I spent over an hour and 1/2 on talk time when I spent about 3 minutes on a call.
I just want to know that it's not only me, and if that, how to fix it.
Thanks guys!
Apparently since I'm a lurker and not much of a poster, I don't have rights to post in the development sub forum.

No is just you! And the name to this thread should've been my issues with ics , I've been running and testing most ICS roms since day 1 and there's no issues like you mentioned and it might also help others if you include your setup/rom you have and what steps you took to attempt to resolve your issues. I would suggest redownloading the desired rom, make sure you check md5 after download so you don't have a corrupted file, go into cwm and do a (full wipe/factory reset/wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache) x3 each just to be sure then flash rom and reboot and test out your results. Then fix any issues separately and not blame ICS in general.

Yes...it does
Op...i am on objection and have not noticed any of these issues.
Bat stats look good...call history is all there
Did you flash rc2?
What steps have you tried to correct the issues
Wipe?
Fresh install?
Wifi tethering works a bit differently on ics . try the foxfi app
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Thank you both.
Having less than 10 posts limits the places I can actually post.
I'm thinking to do a fresh wipe and install, go straight to RC2 and start from there.
I used CW Touch to flash.

Haven't had a chance to use tethering but my call log is perpetually empty.
I flashed RC 2 yesterday and was unable to receive incoming calls. also, no call log. But, the developer was working on these issues late last night.

I wasn't aware that asking a question was an attack but there seem to be a lot of very sensitive users on XDA. I was actually hoping a Mod would see my post and move the thread where it belongs and where it might get more exposure and answers to the questions. I was NOT attacking anyone. I was trying to help.
New update should fix most of this!
Thank you for your help.
And thank you apdroid!
All the problems were resolved with the news update.
And I am now using foxfi which works perfectly.
Thanks XDA members!

I just received 2 batteries for the I-777 that I bought on eBay. However, they do not have NFC. For the hell of it, I double checked and tried turning on NFC in the settings and it said "error occurred". So I'm like yeah okay, figures. So I pop in the original battery (NFC capable) I was using and tried turning it on, and it was still not working. I'm on ICScrewed 2.1 with Siyah's last up-to-date GB kernel. Re-flashing didn't work. Help?
Stuff I've tried:
Wiping/Re-flashing
Back to stock, re-rooting, reflashing (was sure this would have fixed it...)

Did you try a wipe before reflashing?
Yes, I always wipe before flashing.
Maybe a ROM that isnt outdated, and not supported anymore.

I've been on ICScrewed 2.1 for a while, and the NFC always worked. The problem barely started when I put in a non-NFC capable battery.
Have you tried flashing anything else to see if the issue remained on other roms?

Again, troll some more.
Labeling people as "trolls" won't get you help around here. Especially when they are the guys with most of the answers!
Keep searching, Google, xda forums, everywhere. Sometimes the answers are in obscure places. It's a pain in the ass, especially xda's search function, but it's worth the time. You may or may not find your solution but learn something helpful in the process. Right now I've screwed up supercharging my phone... Now im frantically looking for ways to fix without flashing. Butt im not going to ask for help until I know I have searched my ass off.

Keep kissing ass to your friends. Phalanx doesn't help. Look at his answer. Absolutely nothing to do with the OP. Instead, he's insulting me by saying I haven't searched, when I have. Not to mention, he does that in every thread I made. I'm pretty sure such behavior is trolling.
Anyway, like I said. I did search. All people have said is: pull battery out and put it back in, reflash (wiping of course too), and going back to complete stock and re-rooting and flashing. None of those have worked. See, you people assume I haven't searched, but I have...
Apparently, there was a flashable zip to fix this, but it was for a different phone when I was looking on Google.
All I can say is include everything you've tried in the OP. If you come across anything, make an update in the thread or an edit to the post, whichever is easier for you.
It took 2 people asking a question to get that you had tried two other possible fixes and they failed. Do you go to the doctor and tell him your head hurts but leave out the part where you damn near knocked yourself out working under the sink? No, you tell him everything you can think if that may have caused the issue in the first place.
No trolling, no judgment and for damn sure no kissing ass (see the thread where I pissed of Shoman). Just a normal guy trying to help ya out a bit.

First of all, you should have posted this in the correct thread, the Q&A thread. But since this thread is already here, might as well try to help you.
Do you have a case? Because I know that some cases can sometimes unintentionally press the camera shutter button or the power button. Remove any cases and see if the problem occurs without the case.
