Need help - Motorola Photon 4G

So i am running moish 2.3.5 locked ROM and for some reason all of a sudden when i go to install a program it will not let me hit the install button. I have enough space, clear cache, fixed permissions, rebooted everything i can think of and it still will not let me install programs, any ideas please this is killing me.

Go to settings, applications, manage applications, all applications. Go to play store and clear it's cache and reboot. You should be good to go. If that doesnt work, go a step further and uninstall updates, clear its cache, and reboot. Hope this helps ya.

The play store will install programs it is side loaded programs that won't install and yes i have allowed side loading in the menu.

Warranty replacement... Hmm which phone?

My 3rd replacement will be here tomorrow due to my vib not syncing (android. acore. process)
If this one is faulty in any way then I'm trading up.
My Q is if given the chance, which tmo phone would you go to next and why?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Just a heads up, expect a really ****ty choice of two phones.
When I tried to change after getting 5 replacements, (3 of them for the same reason, modem hardware crashing) I got the moto charm as the only option. And your options are locked in their system.

Ugh that isn't what I wanted to hear,
Maybe this 3rd one has no probs.
You think if I kick in a few $ then I would have a better choice?

I asked them the same thing, and it's locked in their system the choices you get. You could possibly try to go even higher in the rep, but I doubt you'd be able to get anywhere.

Did you root it to try n fix the syncing?

I've never heard of an android phone having issues synching...
could you elaborate?
Did you clear the cache for it? Apparently that android.acore.process is (media storage) "I THINK" when you go to manage applications. I just know every time I cleared the cache and such for that it went away.
Also, did you know if the Vibrant screen were to crack Samsung will send you another one completely FREE? (rumor) I wanted to know if anyone can justify this. Cause T-mobile wants $130
Here is how the whole mess went down...
Was on my 2nd vibrant and all was well... Gps had no issues, bionix 1.3.1 was snappy and smooth, all accounts synced ... I was a happy camper.
I went to download barnacle wifi teather and got a wierd super user conflict.
Uninstalled SU and reinstalled... still no barnacle, factory reset, no barnacle, for some reason SU just wouldn't play nice.
Went up down around and through SU, uninstall reinstall update yadda yadda yadda.
Odin back to stock... Sync just fine
Re root... sync fail
Flash bionix...sync fail
When I would go to accts and sync, the google sync worked, however face book and twitter would cycle all the way to "login failed try again ""
If I went through the contacts (updates on the top right of main contacts screen) it would say "android score process "
So I went bare bones odin back to stock and removed all traces of root and bionix from the Senior card.
Result was google sync but nuttn else.
My 3rd vibrant came this am
Rooted running bionix, all accts sync but have yet to DL barnacle... Might do that tomorrow.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
^ WHY would you use barnacle? That app is garbage compared to the built in tether / wireless AP..
go to menu settings > Wireless > Mobile AP.... turns your phone into a hotspot.
I'm sorry, but your issues sound like user error man. Feel free to hit me up if you need help.

barnacle failed because you have to disable the wpa supplicant option in settings.

Market totally crap?

So my market has been abysmal recently. Most of the time downloads fail and now when I try to install something I click install and it just gets stuck on loading. Already rebooted and cleared data.
Why is this happening and is there amy way to fix?

Factory reset usually fixes it but um try finding an apk to the old market and pushing it to /system/app. Maybe thatll help
I'm going to have to do that. This sucks

clearing cache works for me but its a pita. With the amount of complaints going on you would think it'd be fixed by now. At least I can see all my apps.

I've found that uninstalling updates from the application manager fixes all of my 3.1.5 woes. It will eventually update back to current release, but until the market is updated again, this is the best fix i've found.
Also, if you have more than one GMail account on your phone, go to 'my apps' and make sure you've got your main acct. set as the market acct.

same here. I clear it all the time and the uncheck admob, just because. My market hangs all the time and sometimes will not show my apps installed.
Has this been strictly on wifi? I'm having the same symptoms in the market but I've narrowed it down to my wifi being garbage and not holding a connection for any app.
I'm still having the problem today - and on the Sprint network, not WiFi. Other apps work fine, just Market sucks.
Same issue here. Market hangs & won't update apps sometimes. Other times shows an update available but there won't be. Really annoying.
Yep, I've been having market issues since the new market. It really is a pain.
The new market blows chunks, I pushed the old one back. It works well and shows what it needs to show.
I installed the new 3.2.0 market on my Flyer (gotta have root, and the Photon not rooted(yet)). And I haven't had a single problem. It's pretty freakin' sweet. I have I'll post the link in a sec...

Same here. To fix my problem, I used titanium backup to freeze the marketupdater.apk and then uninstalled the market updates from the applications menu. Now I am on the old market and all is well. I am wondering if the new market (version 3.2) fixes all these problems??

Force Closing process....com.motorola.contacts

Hey guys I'm having trouble with the com.motorola.contacts force closing on me.
I recently ported the alien theme to the latest stock rom.
Now I'm getting that error and I'm not sure why I changed the contacts apk back to stock and it worked until I added my social networks and now it crashes again.
Any ideas on why this is happening? Maybe I need to change the setup apk back to stock also....trying to avoid that and yes I wiped the cache and all even factory rest via bootstrap
Thanks guys
You might have removed some of the other dependencies - such as the blur yahoo package, etc
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
the physical apk no everything is in its place only things I took out are the sprint apks
At first my text messaging would not vibrate alert me until I removed the moded apk and added the stock. I'm trying to figure why some stuff is flipping out and the rest aren't

I am having the EXACT same error with my contacts today and I have done nothing to phone except one click root and that has never caused me any problems with my contacts.

This didn't work for me!
did you remove one of the social apps? " think it is "social sharing" that is needed to touch onto a contact while in messaging.
You having any luck over on your end Bro? Or still getting the FC's?
Ever figure this out? Mine happened after I tried moving the social apps out of the apps directory. Moved them back in and fixed permissions...same force close. Did a couple factory resets including internal storage and with the phone clean after that it still force closes! Not sure what else to try now.
Not to jack this thread, where can I find the old Google+ at? My phone was perfect until 2.0! Now I, like you, have problems with that Social Networking. 1. I cannot even add Google+ to it! 2. SPB 3d Shell sometimes freezes when I pass the panel with Social Networking on it.
The only thing different between this phone and replacement is Google+ and I can tell by the new red icon!

I had this happening to me and did the factory reset even through the stock recovery, but that didn't help. The only thing that worked to get it back was install the stock SBF. After that contacts worked again.
I was able to narrow done my problem to when I froze the Desk Home app in Titanium Backup. Then instantly I got the contacts force close error. Now it doesn't work again, even if I unfreeze the Desk Home app.
I will try again to see if I can reproduce the problem the way I did it.
I got this issue for a while after using Titanium Backup to "freeze" the Yahoo authenticator, and Yahoo Contacts on a stock (rooted) rom. After defrosting them the contacts came back. Props to Pete720 for the idea.
I deleted the yahoo and sprint apks and my contacts apk is fc how can i get them back
One friendly tip, next time use Titanitum Backup to Freeze the applications instead of deleting them. After a reboot they will appear invisible to the phone (not starting, not hogging any RAM) but for situations like this you can Unfreeze them to make them work again
Yahoo Contacts is not a dependency, Contacts work fine with frozen Yahoo Contacts. I tried tried freezing/unfreezing back and forth a bit and to me it seems like Motorola Contacts depends on all the Authenticator apk's, even if you don't use them. I only use Corporate Sync and Google Accounts but had to unfreeze all Authenticator apps to make the Contacts work again.
You will need all the com.motorola.blur.provider apk's. I don't know if I can help you since I have a Defy+ running 2.3.6 (there might be apk differences) but let me know if you don't find anything anywhere else and I could try to extract the apk's for you as a last resort
im getting forced closing on (com.motorola.phone),,,any idea what causes that
had that force close on phone issue b4... when i wasnt on a diff from ##data# and reset data profile fixed it just fine. when i had it happen on cm9 i just wipped phone 2 times and the format system thing and re installed rom and all was fixed.

[Q] EVO 3D Unresponsive

I recently rooted my phone and I'm still using the stock ROM. I downloaded Root Uninstaller to remove some bloatware, and I must have accidentally removed an important phone function because the "slide here" bubble on the unlock screen has disappeared and I cannot access the phone. My computer also does not recognize the phone which is odd.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I wouldn't imagine the phone is bricked as it still displays the background and receives calls and text messages, I'm just not able to interact with the phone in any way.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
If you have a nandroid then I'd recommend a restore, especially if your not sure what you removed.

Sounds like you uninstalled htclockscreen.apk I remember reading something on here about how to restore that.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
If you don't have a nandroid backup, and if you don't want to lose any data, I would boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, and reflash the stock rom. Or wipe everything and start fresh.
"We're coming from a pure power source."
Thanks for the information guys - I had backups so I just wiped everything as I wasn't sure exactly what was missing.
Guess I should do some research before I start removing things!

I believe you can remove HTClockscreen AFTER you have installed some other lockscreen. As for tinkering, as long as you have backups, no harm, no foul.

Broke YouTube somehow.

OK. I feel really stupid posting this. But I can't figure out how I broke it. Every time I click YouTube app, I get the 'youtube has stopped unexpectedly' window.
I'm on stock odex rooted ROM. I did install a battery mod. SystemUI.apk. it works fine. SystemUI was odex, so I had to rename it's odex then push the apk. That's really the only mod I've done so far.
Today, I open YouTube, and it won't open. I even tried renaming the odex file AND the apk file and pushing an inverted YouTube and setting permissions. Still same. Won't open. So I removed the themed one from /system/app and renamed originals to original names. Wiped caches and rebooted. Still won't open.
Is YouTube tied to systemUI at all (dont see how it could be, but that's the only thing I changed). Oh, also did the htclinkify edit a few days ago, and youtube worked after that.
Sorry. Seems like a stupid question. Just wonder if anyone has any insight.
Only mods:
Build prop edit for apple patent. - YouTube still worked
SystemUI and remove odex.
I dont see how either of these could affect YouTube.
Much thanks.

You seem to know what you are doing. Have you tried a backup then wiping and flashing a new Rom? And of course, you've cleared the YouTube app settings right?

Also, this may sound obvious and stupid, but have u tried uninstalling thru titanium backup and downloading a fresh version and reinstalling?
I don't understand what all u did concerning the odex, but that's my own inexperience.

Yup. Cleared settings and data. Numerous dalvik wipes after trying different stuffs. Wiped defaults Just totally puzzled. Haven't tried titanium, as I figure doing it thru system/app is as good or better than using titanium. Maybe I'm wrong.
Yeah, I'm not totally new. Just can't figure out what the hell I could a done to break it.
SystemUI and remove odex, and prop edit to fix apple BS is all I've done. I know it worked after prop edit. I'm feeling really stupid right about now.
Edit: and of course I reboot and wipe aches after changing anything. Weird. Probably just have to flash a ROM. More interested in fighting out how any of the 2 things i did could break YouTube.

Just remove the app, and re download the app from the play store.

I noticed that the build.prop restoring what apple took away is noted to cause some errors within YouTube. Have u tried restoring the build.prop from before the apple features were restored?
Not saying its your fault in modifying the build.prop but I know I have overlooked what I was doing and messed up. Especially in writing code, more in c++ but it all looks the same sometimes.
