My notification and ringtone volumes are not linked... how do I link them?
Sent from my GT-P7510
By default Notifications and ringtones are separate I'm sure there is an application for it but stock I can't find a way.
If anyone figures out a way of linking all the volumes, I'd greatly appreciate it too, thanks
+1 for that.
I used to use the app Volume Control +, but it does not seem to work with SGS3.
+1 definitely
ICS default is linked volumes
Samsung ICS is unlinked...same on S2 and Note
Hence there's loads of apps on Play Store, for ICS, that will unlink them...and all apps like Volume Control+ and Timeriffic expect the volumes to be linked and therefore dont work on Sammy roms!
We need a dev who can re-link them so we can use all those lovely apps!
+1 Been searching for days. Tried dozens of apps. Nothing works. What gives Samsung??
Has anyone gone to settings>sound>volume and alter the levels to equal from there?
If that's what you mean that is

No, none of us have because we are all stupid. What do you think?

Get nfc tags to set the volumes at the same time, that's what I do.

Is there a way to get this on the stock Photon rom? I've tried Poweramp, that's a no go, it doesn't turn the volume up when you long press, but it doesn't skip either. Player Pro's take on it works kinda clunky too. This is my most missed feature from cm7. Any input would be appreciated!

These types of CM7 "hotkeys" generally don't exist on stock. You might check to see if some ROM authors would be willing to add to their ROMs.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
The problem with that is there are not many roms available for the Photon. I just need to know how and what to modify. Also, the music players that allow this feature, Poweramp and Mixzing, that worked on my Evo do not work on the Photon.

Since I can't really get a good answer for this I turned to "Just Shake" on the market. It gives the ability to skip by double tapping the volume up or down keys. I haven't even played with any of the shake settings yet, but it works well.

I use tactile player. Its double tap just like the one you described

Can You tell me wich files I need mod in stock to add this "hotkeys" ?
(already have add check "net.hostname" for stock, so I understand programming part, but cannot find needed files).

Im in the same boat. I've been told that its the rom that needs to be modified, but nobody says what part or HOW to modify it. I gave up on the idea.

Try this topic.
I've find all answers (android.policy.jar - PhoneWindowManager.smali).
Already done this mod for Xperia NEO.

This is way beyond my level of experience. I can edit the build.prop, that's about it! I can follow a step by step procedure, but this is like brain surgery being performed by a bicycle mechanic!

Anybody having any luck separating their Ringtone and Notification volumes? This is really bugging me. I tried an app from the market, but it didn't work. Just wondered if anybody else has had any luck.
Use Ringer Control from the market. It works great.

Thanks, but I tried it earlier today. ICS Ringer Control didn't work for me. The volume for ringtones and notifications stayed the same, no matter how I set it.
thats annoying, and the fact that the lowest volume step is like 2, louder than the lowest on gingerbread really pisses me off...

And is there any way to separate them? Very annoying when listening to music to get notifications for emails.

 There is an option "use incoming call volume for notifications". Untick that
Tapatalked !!
To me is very helpful, since I don't want to lost any work e-mail, I need the notifications to be impossible to miss

It is a design decision made by Google in ICS.

They are doing it for usability reasons. Essentially notifications and ringtones serve the same purpose, and there are very few use cases when those need to be different.

They really don't though. At the moment I'm talking about music and it's annoyance of being interrupted by an email every 5 minutes. I'll work out something with tasker anyway.
However what about wanting phone calls at night but not emails. At 2am someone calls i want to hear it. I don't want to hear my email.
Apple is getting praise for finally separating the 2 and Google goes the other way. Very silly

I have the same problem - so I just switch off WLAN and data traffic when I'm on call.. No more waking up for an email

I wished i could set my notification tone quieter like i could in previous versions.
One every 4.2.2 ROM I've notice that once an incoming call comes through the phone will ringer for about 3 seconds then the ringer goes out and continues to vibrate. I saw another post where someone said the issue is custom ringers but I'm using the stock sounds. Any idea how to fix this?

I don't have an issue with my ringers. I have custom ringers (mp3's), and system ringers (ogg's) and they all work and play for the duration of the rings. I have them all moved to my internal memory. Maybe that helps?
I'm currently on Paranoidkangdroid and I use to be on SOA, and FJ's with no issues either.

I never moved my stock sounds so they should be on the internal storage. Strange. I'm on slimbean now but its happen on other ROMs.

I am having the same problem and find it to be ROM agnostic. I have tried several different ROMS including JellyBam and Slimbean with the same problem of one ring & multiple vibrations.
The only thing I can think to try is to take the current preferred ringtone and, using an audio editor, create a new ringtone by copying the ringtone and paste it over & over (a few times) to create one longer ringtone.

I finally looped a ringtone using an audio editor. I looped it six times with 1.5 seconds silence between each ring and you cannot tell the difference between it and a properly cycling ringtone.
Would rather it worked properly, but this work around will do the trick.
Hey guys, I just move to the M7 and T-Mo yesterday from Big Red...loving the One so far, but there's one thing that is really bothering me. These loud ass notifications lol...I've always wanted a loud phone, but damn this is crazy. Is there any working way to unlink the ringer and notification volumes? I've trieto search for the answer, but no luck. I've tried 3rd party apps, they don't seem to work. I'm running ViperOne 1.1.1 rom, and I don't see an option in there. Also Tasker doesn't seem to be working. Thanks in advance for the help!!
Jay
Not the best answer but I just went with a more subtle notification sound.
I use an app called a smart sound profiles. It is the only way I've been able to manage with the issue. Check it out
