When someone calls the low resolution caller id just looks really bad on the phone. Is there anyway to make the picture more clear?maybe an app tht adds higher resolution pic to contacts?
I have read tht no matter wat resolution pic u add, google reduces it to a low resoltion one?if tht is the case is there any workaround for this in x10?

Hi
I dont know if this topic exists, because I don't get the search function of this app .. Today we compared the same picture on three devices .. A x10 2.1 rooted and dualtouch enabled .. X10 1.6 and samsung wave .. Wave had the best resolution .. But the 1.6 has also got a way better resolution than my 2.1 .. its a picture with handwriting and it really sucks on my x10 ... Pdf zoom in stays high res ... Any idea how to change or what is the problem?

Resolution of an image is the amount of pixels in the x and y axis.
It is unlikely that the 2.1 photos would be lower res than the 1.6 photos.
If you mean blurry then try turning off image stabilization. Also if you are zooming it will actually scale the image. There is never a point in zooming on a camera without a zoom lens. Just crop the final image. That is what it is doing anyway.
Thanks for your answer !!
But i dont talk about a picture from a phone camera .. its exactly the same picture from a high res canon cam .. and we sent that to the phones via bluetooth... i hope you understand now...
I figured out ..that with large image viewer from market i get a better result.. but only as good as mediascape 1.6 .. really weird
And i think the wave just has more colours and so its sharper???

try using the Android Gallery app on all the phones.. then you'll be comparing apples with apples... (or failing that, download the same photo viewer off the market to all 3 phones and try that... ).. also - make sure that all the phones have the brightness set to max for the test.. that will make a big difference (Rachel 2.1 vs 1.6 handles brightness settings differently)
Hey iceman .. thx for your answer ..
This would be a great idea.. but its just interesting that mediascape and the stock android gallery in my 2.1 can not scale it up to the same sharpness as 1.6 mediascape regardless of the brightness setting? ??!!
I have installed cm 2.2 now and its a bit better....

I stumbled upon this thread by accident. Recently I found a gallery software that's fast and able to zoom in at full jpeg resolution. It's name is QuickPic.Very nice. In my opinion, though simple, better than Mediascape or Android standard gallery.
Just wanted to share.
Hi everybody,
The caller id picture is really low res, even with pictures synced with SyncMyPix.
is there a way to mod this without using FullScreenCallerID?
thanks
UP 10 chars
umm , what?
I am looking for this option as well. Out of box pictures look really low-res.
Lol, I was ABOUT to recommend sync my pix, did you unselect the setting where it says it crops the image?
Hey can someone create or modify phone.apk to make caller photo bigger or Full screen ?
Hi there,
The new Phone call displays the contact picture a lot larger than in GingerBread. This makes all those low resolution pictures used on GB look crap on ICS, Also, it tells anyone near by whose calling you or who you are calling without having to look at the font.
Is there a way to reduce the size?
Hello!
I read that in 4.0.4 SGSII now supports better quality photos for contacts.
I'm busy organizing my contacts in phone and Google Contacts, and going to get to photos soon.
I would appreciate if someone told me where, in which format, resolution should I upload photos so that they would appear in the best possible quality in phone.
I mean - should I add photos directly in phone, or is it better to do it via contacts.google.com ?
JPG/PNG? 1000x1000/500x500/...? ~100KB/~250KB/~500KB per photo?
Directly, .png format, resolution as high as possible, weight of file dosen't matter.
I guess there's no sense in making photos larger than 480x480, because screen has maximum resolution of 480 px on smaller side. Anything bigger won't make any practical sense. Am I right?
Maybe, but I always choose highest available resolution.
