I recently switched to a Lumia 800 from an iPhone 4S, and ever since most of my calls have ended in drops! Some calls would last barely 2-3 minutes before dropping out. I had no such problems with the 4S on the same network, so this is definitely not a network issue (Vodafone Australia).
Did anyone else experience anything like this?
Are You on the latest firmware ? My colleagues 800 had the same issue until I updated it to .12072.

Now I think it's the proximity sensor at fault. Although the diagnostic tool didn't give weird results, I remember putting many calls on "hold" and "mute" automatically when the phone was held up to my ears. Is my unit faulty or this is a general software bug?
could be both, because the sensor in badly placed, when talking on the phone, the sensor might be where your sideburns are and when this happens the screen does not turn off so make sure you keep the sensor on the ear and not on the hair...

I recently purchased the Nokia Lumia 800 on amazon. Everything works fine. I just have some trouble with the MMS. I receive pictures from one person but I cant send any pictures or receive it from anybody else. Anybody know how this is possible?
What phone did you come from? Depends on provisioning. I would have them update to your phone or something with a gsm phone functionality. If you came from IPhone it could cause this as it did for me age I moved to the lumia 800.

Just download Nokia Network Setup App from the Marketplace, it will fix all the provider specific issues.
Does anyone know how to get Visual Voicemail to work correctly on the lumia 800? Everything else works but that and was wondering if anyone else got it working. Or at least knows of a fix. Thanks in advance.
Things may have changed since I last looked this up, but afaik no.
Since AT&T is a giant pile of **** they have blocked WP7 from accessing it claiming their systems don't support it. Now this is a flat out lie since the protocol WP7 uses to access it is the same as the one the iPhone and Blackberry devices use.

Well that blow's I thought it might work since my iPhone 4S is my contract phone and I bought a Lumia from Ebay.
I received an unlocked Lumia 800 today and put my iPhone 4S sim card in. It recognized visual voicemail and asked for my password, but it just keeps saying Syncing.... and never shows anything and I noticed the normal vm indicator isn't working now. Any suggestions for getting VVM to work or at least to disable it on the Lumia 800?

Bit of a hassle though.
Hi!
I just rooted my SGS3 today and I noticed that some friends of mine had some problems hearing me during the call. I made some other phone calls and my friends confirmed the problem.I did the phone calls under a good network coverage. I'm new to android and I wanted to ask if someone else had the same problem or if there is a solution for it.
Thanks,
No not at all i highly doubt rooting your phone assuming everything was done correctly could have any impact in call quality, mine is fine.
I noticed my call quality is crap today. Not sure when it started, but it's bad. I'm testing by leaving myself voicemails on my work number. I'm starting from a seated position and the call was clear enough, but as soon as I start walking around it gets very badly garbled to where you can't make out what was said. I put the sim back in the galaxy nexus and quality was fine, so I don't think it's the network, also I have full bars.
Is it possible something could be causing interference to the S3 and not the Gnex?
Yes I am rooted, and yes I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with it.
Was data on at the time? If so, disable and test.
Try another modem or firmware with different modem.

Firmware revision number: 1750.0805.8773.12220
I do have Internet Sharing in Settings, but it doesn't really work.
I turn it on and try to share my 3G network, I can even successfully use my iPod Touch to connect to the share network, however, I can not access the internet on my iPod Touch in actual.
I believe that my carrier is not blocking internet sharing, because I can use my old phone to create a hotspot without any issues.
I tested the Internet Sharing function again, it works now. But the network speed is unreasonably slow.
The Contact Share feature is not visible.
Flip-to-silence is working.
Is it because the current firmware is not stable?
Or is this update not suitable for my device?
Nokia Care Suite recognize the product code of my device as 059M658. BTW, Which firmware should I use to flash back, if I want to?
Many Thanks
Can't share contacts either, but my Internet Sharing is working. I can visit google and search with my MacBook connected to my Lumia 800 Hotspot.
How did you active flip to silent? I can't find it...

I don't know how to active flip-to-silent. I guess this is set by default. I just flipped it, then it switched to silence mode.

Contact Share will be an App available later in Nokia Collection.
You can flash any firmware you want as along as it's made for the same model (i.e. RM-801)

It just works automatically for incoming calls. The ringtone gets muted when the phone is flipped, however it still vibrates.
If you use the old trick with pushing any volume button - both the ringing and vibrating get muted.

Any chance to disable it? I accidentally muted my phone 2-3 times now at work :/
you need the nokia oem update. ICS and the other stuff isn't a part of tango! the nokia firmware update unlocks all those features. if you have a RM-801 device, you can find the link to the nokia OEM update here on XDA.

where did you buy it? in europe there is only the rm-801. what's your product code? it is printed on the sim-card holder. something like "059...." you can also find the rm-801 sticker on the lumia package. if it is a rm-819 device (USA/Asia), then it should say rm-819

Well probably the same way I do You just take your phone out of your pocket and don't really care which way it is around, then put it down. I've done it many times.
I suppose if people are at work and do it they obviously don't want to answer their phone

If it locked once you start with non-original operator sim card it will ask you for unlock code, so you will know it's locked
do you receive sim error after airplane mode ?
Mine has a bended / broken sim reader pin and didn't recognize any sim card and after restart I got SIM error msg.
I have somewhat of a like issue. After restart takes a LONG time to connect and update the tile. Wife's phone, will state no service or emergency calls only, but she can text out AND I can always call her, so POSSIBLE the tile is not updating. Sim card replaced twice by ATT. ATT stated working on local towers for LTE upgrade, and after a whole weekend of no text coming in (able to text out)(???) all incoming test text messages (say 25) arrived at 6am on Sunday morning.
no data updating (email) while in this half-working mode. next thing I can think of is get new phone.

If the phone is the ATT model and is still locked to ATT then you obviously have an issue with the phone and should sen it in for service. There is no reason why an ATT phone and ATT SIM should have an issue on the ATT network otherwise.
I have this issue as well but only since I got it back from Nokia repairing the dust in the front camera problem. They changed the internals for some reason and now I have No Service and also now have new IME number. I contacted them and they said try a hard reset which didn't work then said I would have to send it back again for this to be repaired which when I got it back today has the same problem still. There is nothing wrong with my SIM card and have even received a new Orange one which still did the same. When I contacted Nokia they were next to useless saying I need to send it away a 3rd time (my phone was perfect before I sent it away apart from the dust in the front camera...don't I regret getting this fixed now!) which I declined and have asked to speak to the manager. I have to wait 3-4 business days for them to ring me and see what can be done. I know this is probably not much help but will let you know the outcome as it might be a setting or something I can do with the phone.
One thing I have found is Nokia Care is they are the most unhelpful company ever! Basically just suggesting I keep booking it online to be collected for repair. Once this is sorted I hope I never have to deal with them again!
At&T no Signal as well
Default AT&T Lumia 920 bought from ebay NO SIGNAL ! I flashed it but... no signal
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought this yellow Lumia 920 form USA. I live in Europe.
Unfortunately it was locked, I called AT&T and they gave me an unlock code and now it's unlocked.
I put 2 different SIMS inside but the phone shows no signal at all. It reads the SIM from inside ( services etc) but It will not lock to a signal.
When I boot it it shows an airplane mode and in 2 seconds the no signal icon. The airplane mode is disabled thought I checked enabling and disabling.
I decided to flash it to Rogers after reading all these comments here using Nokia Care Suite. It was succesful. The conversion was from RM-820 AT&T to ----> RM820 Rogers Canada.
I had the ability now to change from LTE to 3G and 2G but to no avail. The signal remained dead and it wouldn't find any signal after searching for new networks associated with my 2 sim cards that I tried.
If I flash it again to the rm-821 euro dev rom will it work ? The thing is that I can't find it nowhere to download it. Where did you guys found it from ?
Thanks
Lumia no signal
Try hard reset!!!
Permanent no signal sounds like it could be blacklisted by the networks, check the IMEI here and it should show if it's blacklisted http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset

I had this issue with a replacement Lumia 920 that I ordered online. To fix this you will first need a t5 torx screwdriver in order to remove the two screws from the bottom of the device. Once those are out you have to pry the main body of the phone from the polycarbonate case and expose the bare backside (*giggle*). look to the upper right portion of the device for a really thin coaxial-esque cable... this is the antenna. To fix my issue I simply had to push the connector piece back into it's slot. There will be a firm but tiny click once this is properly inserted and you should now receive a signal on your 920 again. (apparently the build of the phone makes this piece pretty easy to become disconnected which is why we see a lot of this issue from various 920 owners). I hope this helps, if you need further instruction/pictures let me know.

Hi there if you can also send me some pics etc on how to do this. that would be great.
I got this wife for my wife and have it for close to 5 months and it won't work.
And she really loves the phone
thanks

I have this same issue, although hitting the phone on my hand or flexing the phone will cause the service to come back until its jostled again. ive tried to find a connection with the antenna but no luck,
I have the same issue too...
At first I notice that my phone became hotter in my pocket and the battery drains quicker than usual.
After that I just thought maybe it was because of the bad signal on that area.
Then I got home and facing the same thing, my 920 still got "no service".
But I notice in the full signal area, my phone still can catch the signal. And when I get into the lesser signal area, all I got is "No service"
I've handed it up to the Nokia Care. And they fix it and cost me Rp.750.000 (US$60-65).
And still I'm having the same problem :crying:
Same problem, no connection on 3g, but 2g works fine
Hi,
I am having a similar issue with my unlocked lumia 920. While using it with 2G I have no problems, I can make phone calls and the internet although slow, works. Whenever I decide to switch to 3G it can no longer connect to the internet nor can I make/receive phone calls.
The antena cable is new and the signal for 3G shows 2-5 bars (but sometimes it looses the signal. Any hints??

tnx very much for advice, i bought used lumia 920 yesterday and signal was very poor and often without reception then tried this and VOILA, there is now full 3G (H) signal in my room. When you push connector here is a smaaaaaaall *click* and thats almost sure sign it's reason for bad signal.
