Hi,
im on jokers cm9 and my wifi and bt have broke which is causing constant reboots. i am sending my phone off today back to moto and I am wondering what I need to do first.
What pudding should I flash on it to send back to them and what should I do about the 'unlocked' you see at startup?
anyone else done this before?
thanks
Restore it using Motorola software update utility and report back.

If u flash the stock 2.3.4 sbf it'll take u back to stock and remove the unlocked logo. (Yes this is safe. Long as u don't flash anything older than that)

If you are on 2.3.6 and flash 2.3.4 you will get failed to boot 1.

Hi,
I am not happy with the ROMs out there of 2.3.4 so i am trying to get back to stock 2.2.2. Any thing i should be careful of ? (i have unlocked bootloader and Unlocked CWM installed)
I am planning to download SBF and flashing it using RSD Lite 5.3.1
I have Bell Atrix (and installed International SBF before all the times)
Make sure to download the correct SBF. It should say "1.8.3 Pudding" or something like that. But, honestly I think you would be better off on gingerbread there are so much more features than froyo.
i think u will brick when u go flash sbf again.
I've seen posts bout it and u should stay with the unlocked sbf.

Need Help plz
I flashed Branding: Retail UAE Version: 4.8.0 Service
Andd i am stuck with boot loop.
RED LED is on on ever reboot. Phone dont pass rippling Motorola logo
Any thoughts ?
I am flshing Bell/International Unlock SBF again and see what happens.
Phone is rebooting
No use Red Led is not leaving me alone. And unable to boot, stuck with boot loop
I got Back the Unlocked Sight in the boot screen and no i am flashing back the CWM recover via fastboot (for Unlocked)
And try to install zip of CharryBlur 1.4b
Fingers crossed.
Well every thing looks Norman, No Hard or Soft Brick at all
Or may be when u get bootloop its called soft brick.
so u back to 2.2.2?
what did u do for fixing softbrick?
I want to reflash sbf as my boot screen looks weird...

Like i said i was unable to boot into froyo at all bootloop so i flashed pudding for international users and got th Unlocked bootloader back and flashed CWM Recovery and then flashed Alien ROM from there.
I was unable to SBF flash Back.
If u want to go back i have found some usefull links.

Try this if u must.
And with my experience DO NOT SBF FLASH ANY THING USING RSD Lite, ONLY USE IT IF UR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

try to get fruitcake here to rollback to 2.2.2

Hello, I'm in quite the pickle and my head is spinning at this point. A few days ago I received a brand new Atrix from Motorola with 2.3.4 preinstalled. I unlocked and rooted it as well as installed tenfar's recovery and a a rom by the name of aura(de-blurred). After installing aura I noticed that my wifi no longer worked. I reflashed the rom and still it didn't work. I completely wiped everything and started over, still nothing. After countless efforts I tried installing the blurred version of aura in hopes that it would solve my problem. This was to no avail. Now I have no idea what happened after that, but somewhere along the line tenfar's recovery quit working. I get stuck at the motorola logo with the "unlocked" in the top left corner. I have no idea what to do now. I can't go into recovery which in turn means I can't install any new roms. The only option I can think of is to load a pudding abf of gingerbread. Am I safe in doing so? Are there other options? I have yet to find a real answer to this question so if anyone could possibly point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated. I'm so overwhelmed with how much information is out there I just don't know what to do. Thank you in advance for the help.
I'm also on ATT
If you're running 2.3.4 you can use a 2.3.4 SBF - just do NOT attempt to flash a 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 Froyo SBF - you WILL hard brick.
Will flashing a 2.3.4 sbf completely overwrite everything back to stock 2.3.4? At this point I just want an unlocked and rooted gingerbread. No roms or anything!

If you want to erase and stay on the same fw then all you need to do us a factory reset.
If you want to unlock, then use the IHOP (AKA Pudding) method found in the Dev forum...

I've tried a factory reset and that did not solve the wifi problem. Also, if I install pudding on top of an already unlocked and rooted device will that cause conflicting errors?

If you are unlocked and it says "unlocked" during bootup, then you don't need to unlock it again. It's permanently unlocked.
Not sure about what's going on with your wifi. Have you tried resetting your router, or is happening with all wifi areas?...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
It is happening with all wifi areas.
I also wanted to try the pudding sbf in hopes that it would fix the recovery. I may not need it anymore, but it's a nice feature to have just in case things really take a turn for the worse.
For your WiFi issue. Reset your WiFi router, and 'Forget' all networks on your Atrix. Then go through the paces of setting it all back up again on the Atrix once your home Router has been reset.
You can flash the pudding 2.3.4 sbf.
its not reccomended tho .. try out the fruitcakes first..

I don't have access to ANY recovery methods though. Tenfar's recovery refuses to boot and leaves me with the motorola logo and "unlocked" in the top left corner. Is there any known reason for this?
Can you enter fastboot?
If so you flash in that.
You can even download the rom manager recovery and flash it via fastboot too see if that recovery will let you do what you gotta do.

2.3.4 SBF is fine.... its not recommended to flash anything prior to 2.3.4 - as it results in hard bricking.
I shall try it via fastboot. Thank you for all of the help everyone. I appreciate all the input.
Everything works! Oh happy day!
I'm sorry if the answers to my question have been answered but I can't find them after searching for a few days.
I need to send my Atrix in for a repair or replacement. It is unlocked and rooted running Turl's CM9 right now. Obviously I can't send it back as is, so how should I go about everything?
Flash an SBF, flash a fruitcake rom, or something else that I haven't stumbled upon?
The only threads I could find are from a year ago and so much has changed since then. I just want to be sure I go about this the correct way. And should I go through ATT or Motorola? I know my phone is still under warranty with both.
Thanks for any help! It is much appreciated!
"Always have an exit strategy"
You can flash a fruitcake but the "unlocked" text will remain so you can hope for the best.
Or you can try an SBF (Disclaimer: at your own risk).
How long have you had it? Usually if you have had it for more than 30 days AT&T won't help but if you are still under "warranty" with them I would try AT&T first.
If you can't find a way to return your phone back to stock you can try Motorola, they might just overlook the modifications you have done.... or they might charge you a service fee...... or they might just send the phone back to you. It really depends on who ever is processing your claim and the mood they're in.
Also, please don't start multiple threads on the same topic.

OK thanks. I had read that if I use the Motorola Software Update tool it will erase the "unlocked" text. I don't know how true that is though.
And sorry about the multiple threads, its just annoying not being able to use half my keyboard in portrait. Just was hoping for some quick answers.
Thanks again for the quick response

I had restored a few times to stock.
I do that:
Reboot in fastboot mode and fastboot - w, fastboot erase system, fastboot erase cache, fastboot erase preinstall.
Turn phone off and pull out sim card and sd card.
Reboot in rsd mode (olding vol+ at boot) and flash your sbf with rsd lite.
That's all.

Ok, you don't happen to have a stock sbf file? I can't find one anywhere.
Also, why is it that we shouldn't flash sbf files? It seems that people have success with them but everyone keeps saying not to do that. But I can't find a stock flashable zip and the fruitcake links are dead so sbf seems to be my last resort.
I'm just stuck scratching my head because of all this confusion?

Look in the firmware superthread, in the last pages someone have a link in his sign to a page of many stock sbf files. I found there my updated one.
I always got succes with rsd lite but only with a full wipe with fastboot before it say "pass" at the end. Otherwaise it say to 'manually reboot'.
Don't know why people say "do not use sbf", probably there is a reason, but i think it is the only way to remove the 'Unlocked'
Here links to froyo sbf
and to GingerBread sbf
also you need to delete any folder about apps that need root to work and su folder and anything that presume you have rooted your phone

Depending on what build you are currently on you do not want to "downgrade". So if you are on a Gingerbread build (4.5.91 or 4.5.141) do not flash the Froyo SBF. And probably if you are on the 4.5.141 build (2.3.6), it is not recommended to flash the ".91" build. That is where the issues can occur.
I have also used RSD Lite to flash back to stock (a few times) but always use caution. So, for @scarbutt11, do you happen to remember what build you were on before you unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom ROM?

Yeah, I was running stock 4.5.91/2.3.4. I'm on a cm9 build now. I'm not sure if that will matter at all for flashing back to GB? I know I tried cm7 to see if it was just cm9 causing the problems, but it seems it is hardware related.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Yeah, it depends on what "Official" build you were last on. Since you were on "4.5.91" then I would just use that SBF. Like someone else mentioned, it is possible to use RSD Lite, just use caution.

Took a little pulling of my hair while I waited but fastboot wipe and then flashing the stock sbf worked like a charm. I am back on stock GB, the unlocked text is gone and now I can hopefully get my phone fixed or replaced.
Thank you so much @live4nyy and @LeroyVold!!! Without you guys I would have been still scratching my head. I owe you both big time
No problem man, i need to do the same.
my touchscreen is more and more often unresponsive, so i'm flashing my stock sbf as i write.
Finally got a chance to swing by the AT&T store. They replaced the phone no problem thanks again guys!

Freaking Motorola phones, they break without you even touching them. I gotta figure out how to send mine to att as well.
u need to do a write up in here of how u did it. it might be redudant to some but to others like myself, it will be like having my hand held doing a scary process...your guidance as having it done yourself would help...with a how to..

For free, I bought the phone through them less than a year ago. All I said was that the screen was unresponsive and they looked at it for less than 10 minutes and then said they would replace it for me.

Thats not a bad idea. I have never done one before but now that I'm thinking about it I am sure there are others that need to do what I just did. I will try to write one up in the next few days. Thanks for the idea!

thanks
I was selected to participate in this latest SOAK pre-release from Motorola. All I can say is that I am not happy with the performance and want to revert back to an earlier version and unlock and go back to flashing custom ROMs that perform much better. I just tried to SBF back using 198_7, but it fails. A battery pull later and I am still on the SOAK..all is working...didn't brick it at least.
Is there anyway to SBF back and get back to flashing or am I now stuck on this till its made an official OTA update and someone comes up with a way to unlock it?
TIA
not at the moment...your stuck

It would stall out while waiting for enumeration or something and eventually just have FAIL as the status.
I need to send my Razr back to Vzw.
I'm rooted with Clockwork recovery installed (phone boots to cwm on every reboot)
What is the fastest and easiest way to roll this thing back to shipped specs? I don't need to back anything up.

I would use RSD lite it returns u back to as stock as u can get. Make sure u have the correct files for flashing and get 80%+ charge.
