[Q] Does Wi-Fi Sync apps work on a P2P basis - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One quick question
Does Wi-Fi Sync apps like WiFi explorer, AirDroid sync like a P2P(Wi-Fi Direct) or does it actually transfer data through the internet???

Solution
Apparently the Wi Fi Sync works on a P2P basic and doesnt use the bandwidth..
Problem solved..

[Q] Atrix 4G Slow Sync Speed With my Dropbox!

I just got my Atrix and also bought Titanium Media Sync. I was trying to synchronize my Titanium Backup data to Dropbox However, the Atrix upload sync speed is extremely slow at 165kB/s to 250kB/s over WiFi connection. May I know what's causing the problem? I'm not even at HSUPA or 3G/4G network.
Go to the settings in Titanium Media Sync and enable the LEGACY sync option at the bottom.
Should solve that problem.

Anyway to force a wifi only app to use 3g

I rely a lot on 3g data more so than WiFi and was wondering if there is any way to make apps that use only WiFi like 4od to stream over 3g instead of wifi, I think it can be done on iPhone(jail broken) but can't find something similar on android ?????

WiFi Tether but... Without Internet?

This may seem like a dumb question but... is there a way or an app to essentially turn on WiFi hotspot feature so that I can make an ad-hoc LAN but NOT let all the devices connected access the internet?
Example: I enable WiFi hotspot on my phone. I still have a cellular data connection so I can browse the web, stream music, etc. but any other device that connect to my phone's hotspot does NOT get my data connection, they are just on the LAN the built in android hotspot creates.
I don't want to let other users "run up" my data usage but I want the other users when they connect to my hotspot to be all on one network.
I have a bootloader unlocked Motorola Moto X (original, 2013) and rooted and I use Tasker. Maybe after I enable the hotspot feature I could modify some IP tables via a Tasker app to "enable/disable" internet blocking.
Or maybe there's an app out there for this? I suppose another alternative would be disable mobile data and then enable hotspot (if that's even allowed) but the pitfall there is then my phone doesn't have internet either.
Thanks,
Mike

Why won't WiFi hotspot feature work in a more logical fashion?

Specifically, why is it that some features which only like to work over Wi-Fi, such as screen mirroring from my phone to my PC, will not use the Wi-Fi hotspot connection from the same device? I noticed similar issues trying to set up a Chromecast without a router. I do not have home internet, only my phone. It seems to me that the programming for something like this should be incredibly easy. Have the hotspot treated as a Wi-Fi network with an API, so apps that specifically need to use a Wi-Fi connection can just use that. Why wouldn't this work?

L2TP and PPTP VPN not working

hey guys
there is an issue i'm encountering with since i bought pocophone.
whenever i enable a L2TP or PPTP VPN in the setting of the phone,it will connect but just lets data to get transfered for 2,3 mins and then the data transfer stops and not even a web page gets loaded but when i check it to see if the vpn is still connected or not,i see it's connected but no data transfer.
by the way any third party vpn app works properly and well, this problem is just for manual vpn settings.
and i have checked this problem with other pocophone users and in all other devices there's the same problem, but in other devices except pocophone the same settings for vpn works well and without any issues.
i think there's some firewall settings hidden in pocophone devices
anybody have any suggestions or solutions?
