Unable to root SGP Wifi 5.0 running 2.3.6 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hi guys,
I used SuperOneClick 2.3.3 to try and root the SGP 5.0. However whenever it reaches Step #7, it states mounting operation not permitted. Any ideas?
Thanks!

You MUST flash one of the custom kernels for your version (US or INTL) then you'll be able to root.

[Q] New android user, I have a few questions

Hello everyone!
I have a rooted galaxy s2 (I see the superuser app on my phone) running android 2.3.4. This is a Bell phone. What I would like to do is unroot the phone, then update it to 2.3.6 or wtv update is available through kies (normal update) and then root it again and unlock it using Galaxy_S unlock so I can use it with Fido.
I have a few questions:
Is it even possible to do this?
Can anyone tell me if this is a good method? how to do it properly? or any better alternative methods?
also, if I use this unlock, is it permanent? or do I have to re-unlock the phone every time I loose root/update firmware
ANY help is appreciated, i'm trying to put all of this together and it's not very easy. I bought the phone rooted...but it's not unlocked (as it doesn't work with fido), needeless to say I have no clue how it was rooted and what was used (or if it even matters).
EXTRA infro: (when I press *#1234#, I get:
PDA: I9100XXKG6
Phone:...XXKG2
CSC:...OXAKG
Tell me 2 things, why do you need 2.3.6 and do you have an app called CWM on your phone? The icon looks like a gear
1. first unlock your phone, it is permanent you do not need to unlock if you flash again.
2. you may not be able to use kies to update as the kernal which kies uses to update was changed when it was rooted.
Do you perfer stock or custom firmware ?
you can get the latest stock firmware and installation guide from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
if you want custom search in Android development forum.
3. you will lose your rooting when you update firmware. All you need to do is reroot your phone it is easy. follow instructions in this thread.

Help with rooting Sony Tablet S

I've tried everything but couldn't get my tablet to root. My device was found by adb but kept getting permission denied. I spent 10 hours now trying to root it. I've uninstall, reinstall, any method you can find on the web and still couldn't get it to run. I'm running 3.2 build 10 #1. Please help....

Is it really version 3.2 on your Tab? I heard from an user from Italy with the same combination of FW and kernel. The solution was to update of the latest version 3.2.1R2. He got a lower kernel build (<9) and was able to root his phone afterwards. You can try the same .. and you lose nothing ...
From my personal point of view it makes sense to update to the latest FW version, independent of root problem .

Not able to ROOT 4.1.2

Hi,
I have tried rooting my SGS3 after updating to 4.1.2.
I am flashing CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 via ODIN. It says everything has completing successfully and the square turns green....no errors etc.
When i got to the menu, SuperSU is not present. Apps are not able to get root permissions. CWM is installed however.
Has anyone experience this before? Any suggestions?
Thanks.
try cf-autoroot cos i believe the cf-root is not supported anymore.

It can take multiple attempts for the root to kick in. If you don't see the CF-Root script kick in after using ODIN you need to try again.
The other option is to use the Exynos 4 root exploit APK.
It works for me ive done it 3 times. on 4.1.2 xxelkc
dont try exynos exploit or whatever may break your camera
CF Root 6.4 works .

[Q] LAST RESORT: gt-p1010 2.3.6 root

Hello XDA!
As the name of this thread implies this is the last resort to rooting my GT-p1010 1st gen Galaxy Tab. It is currently running some version of android 2.3.6. I say some version because a while back my father was successful at achieving root access, then something went wrong. Eventually he got some random ROM on it that has the KERNEL VERSION [email protected]#1 I have no experience with dealing with kernels so I would not know if it is stock or not. I have hwo ever rooted and install and custom recovery and ROM on my kindle fire, so I do have experience with this type of thing.Let me get to the point:
I have tried the newest version of Odin and this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386643. I keep getting "Can't open the serial(COM) port" I also am positive that I have all of the correct drivers install for the use of Odin.
I have also tried a manual root and used both GingerBreak and psneuter with no avail.
I have tried installing Z4root and the GingerBreak.apk file as well.
I have tried each method under numerous circumstances and variables!I have also done some extensive homework on each of the failed attempt I have.
I probably should not be posting this thread here, but I want it to get as much attention as possible. I have been working on and off this for 3 weeks and have decided that it is time to come here. ANY REPLY IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

[Q] Unable to root!

A few months ago I upgraded to g33ker's Jelly bean update(e97020j), the official one. Before that I had the official ICS firmware and I had been able to root and unlock the bootloader easily. But after upgrading and trying a number of rooting methods, I have failed to root the phone.
I really want to upgrade to a newer custom firmware but the universal root first and then the app Framaroot failed to root my phone. Both the process showed succesfull at the end of the procedure but the root checker still show my phone to be unrooted and neither can I use the freegee app. It just appears blank. Please help.
