From Leaked ICS Rom to Official OTA ICS - Motorola Droid RAZR

I bought a phone from craigslist a few weeks ago, and it came rooted with the ICS leak from Motorola.
Now that the official OTA ICS from Motorola is being released today, how do I get to this? I honestly don't care about root at this time. I just want to be on the official one.
Unless there is absolutely NO different AT ALL, then I will stay. Thanks for the help!

Download the utility and use option 2 to upgrade to ICS build. 211 which is the same as the OTA. That's your only option. Follow the instructions carefully.

[Q] Any differences between leaked ICS and the official ICS?

I flashed the following awhile back:

Now that the official ICS is being released, is there any difference from the version I flashed?
Thanks

Official ICS isn't being released yet...
...what?
Official leak is still a leak. It comes from a source inside Samsung, it includes official AT&T software and tweaks, the ROM just hasn't been released to general public and may undergo further changes before being released.
The versions posted by Task have been edited by him, to include root and deodexing, as well as a stock kernel with CWM Recovery added (links were pulled recently due to some users reporting hard bricks).

There is no official ICS for I777. There is for I9100, which can be run on I777 with a custom kernel and a few small tweaks (see Hellraiser).
So the difference between leaked and official is that leaked exists.

I said it was official "leak"
Never said it was official release. Could be one day but in no way official release
But I'm going to say with no bearing that official ics will come in november.
Officially the non official release of official firmware was released by a official source of DG. Unofficially released from Samsung.

While a high majority of Galaxy S II variants in the United States have yet to receive Ice Cream Sandwich, users of the unlocked GSM version will be happy to know that they”re among the first owners in the country to be graced with the sweet upgrade. http://phandroid.com/2012/04/20/unl...e-united-states-receiving-ice-cream-sandwich/
I wonder how this will affect those that are running the variants of the "Official" leak? Will we have to do anything special to our phones before doing the real official OTA ICS?
That's for people who bought I9100 units in the USA.
NOTHING to do with AT&T I777 units.

[Q] Help upgrading to KitKat + re-rooting?

Hey guys! So, just a quick recap of my life with my Verizon Galaxy S4: I got it back in June and rooted it (using "I545ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL") within a couple hours of having it up and running. It is my first Android phone. I then disabled the service that persistently alerted me of Android updates (so that I would keep my root). I now would like to update to KitKat.
Currently, here are my phone's software specifications (I apologize if I include unnecessary information!):
Model number: SCH-I545
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I545VRUAMDK
Kernel version: 3.4.0-562219
Build number: JDQ39.I545VRUAMDK
I am just kind of lost as to how I would go about updating to KitKat. I would like to keep TouchWiz, because I use the IR and Camera features, as well as a few other things here and there that I would miss if I lost.
Finally, once I'm up to TouchWiz KitKat, I would like to root it, so I could disable/remove some bloaty parts of TouchWiz and just the general perks of rooting.
I have tried to look through the stickies a few times to find out how to do it on my own, but I kinda got confused.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if any further information is needed.

Since you have an original MDK S4 you should just root it , install a custom recovery, then you can flash all sorts of ROMs Touchwiz or AOSP.
Is your phone rooted? If so do you have a custom recovery?
Root your phone using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290796
Then since you appear to be new at this I'd suggest just using Goo or Flashify to install your custom recovery
Here's Flashify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify
Then learn how to make a backup in recovery and do that.
Then look around these forums for whatever ROM best suits you.
There are KitKat Touchwiz ROMs that you can install that come from the International S4.

Anyways here is the link to a patch we use to enable us to run international S4 Touchwiz 4.4 ROMs .

jrkruse has made a flashable version of the verizon leak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721118
So that's probably the best option now for stock-kitkat. If you don't have a custom recovery, the easiest way would be to use goomanager and simply use 'install openrecoveryscript' from the options menu.

[Q] Stable Version Of ROM?

I got a HTC one M8, which was rooted and has a custom ROM with the following specs
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband Version: 1.12.21331931.LA21G_20.28A.4145.00L
Kernel Version: [email protected] #11 Sun Jun 29 11:47:06 PDT 2014
Build Number SkyDragon GPE V3.0.1
Questions are:
1. Is this a stable version of Skydragon ROM?
2. At times the camera app crashes. is this a known issue? Do i need to update this ROM to a newer version? (Is there a newer version available?)
3. Launching the OTA updater app gives me a "Error Fetching update info: Invalid ROM (SkyDragonGpe-3.0.1) and device(htc_m8) combo. Is this a known issue as well?
I am not able to find the details regarding the build elsewhere. The phone was rooted, (I was unaware of this when i bought the phone). Any insights would be appreciated.

Didn't mean to thank the post. If you don't like how the rom is performing then try another. That's the beauty of being rooted. If you want to keep a Google play edition rom, try sinless. There are several versions depending on what you want. Or you could flash a RUU and return to stock unrooted.

Do you mean you can't find the ROM thread? If so, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706391
You can search the thread to see if there is any mention of camera issues (I did a quick look, and didn't see anything jump out at me). Or just flash another ROM as previously suggested, to see if that fixes the camera issue.

I would complain to the seller, even if you are okay with it being modded, rooted, etc. I would also mention the camera issue, in the event you can't fix it in software and its a hardware issue (in which you should seek to get a refund, exchange, etc.).
The seller not informing you the phone is modded, rooted, etc. is at a minimum a breach of common sense; at most its deceptive.
Also, this thread should have been posted in Q&A, so I've notified the mods to move it.

[Q] Just bought a used G3, several questions?

I need some info about a used Verizon g3 I purchased. Everything works fine, but I can't see where to check if the latest software is updated?
When I go to the phone info area, there's no tab to touch to check.
Does that mean this phone has been rooted? Excuse me.... I'm a newbie.... don't really know how to distinguish between rooted and non rooted.
How would I ever update the phone? Does Verizon do it automatically?
I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data and can tether freely with this phone, a surprise to me.
Would I compromise this with any Verizon updates?
Thx
To check to see if your phone is rooted I suggest downloading a root checker. Here is a link to one on the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck as far as checking to see if there are update go to your settings app scroll down to the bottom and and click on system update then check for new system update
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Free mobile app
Unlike all of my other Verizon smartphones, there's no where to click for system update on my g3
I would check to see if it's rooted then using the app I linked earlier. If it isn't then I'm honestly not sure. That's how my stock phone was. I'm honestly new to this phone as well. Hopefully someone else can be of some more assistance but I will check back to see if there are any questions I can answer
