Yes, this is 100% true. There are ways to go back, which can be found scattered throughout this forum. I have not personally tested any of them.
From my understanding, the ICS .211 changed the signed version number on the bootloader, preventing you from going back.
But it left an official version od ICS for the Razr?
But it left an official version od ICS for the Razr? For in my country (Brazil) does not.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Does Brazil have it?
Here in Brazil has not.
Here in Brazil has not.
But I wonder if it has been officially released elsewhere.

Which is the last android version available for i777? i find only 2.3.4, there's no 2.3.5?
2.3.4 came with the phone and no official updates as of now.
DG has posted a couple leaks that may be or not official.

We can also port I9100 ROMs easily and have 98%+ functionality.
I dont think they will bother with 2.3.5 being that Q1 we will be receiving ICS
Ya, I'm hoping Sammy has moved all developers to ICS and just forget about updating Gingerbread.
The latest ATT specific leak is KJ4 and is 2.3.6.
2.3.6

There is a so-called GB 2.3.6 which for some reason only people here in XDA
are aware of and if you google it all the results come back here to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334412
There are no other references to "GB 2.3.6 I777UCKJ4" anywhere on google
except here in XDA all the google searches point right back here.
With any other firmware we can do a google search and find multiple sources.
I find it very strange indeed, perhaps it's just one big secret.
And of course CM 7.1 nightly is rocking 2.3.7

I am new and have never done any rooting/flashing. I am currently using GTI9100 (bought new and unlocked) in USA. I have a couple of question:
1. I think it should be a Europe version (baseband, XXKI4) . I heard that Europe 9100 has already updated to ICS. SInce I am using it in USA, should my phone update with Europe or USA? I have been checking KIES everyday and still no updates. Anyone knows the projected date of official ICS for my phone?
2. Can someone give me a link of threads for the most current ICS ROM tutorial for my phone if I want to do ICS updates now?
3. For my case, do I root or flash? I am not quite sure of the difference. I just want to use ICS system and have no other needs.

First, this forum doesnt admire lazy people.
There are lots of people that can help you with your problems, but you have to try to do it yourself.
Im not sure if there is an official version of ICS for S 2.
If you want to update it yourself you go to Android development and choose a rom.In the thread you will find what exactly you have to do in order to flash the rom.But before that, you have to flash a CF root kernel for your modem, in order to get a Clockwork mode working, from CWM you can flash your ICS or GB as you wish.
You can find the instructions on how to flash a CF root kernel in here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
Read carefully, everything.
But, to be more specific you arent missing anything by not running ICS.

I'm also using this phone in the US. You will NEVER get a Kies or OTA update, as this phone is not released in the US.

Intratech's official firmware thread. Found quite easily with a search, or in the stickies in the General section. Alternatively, Official Stock ICS Firmwares, courtesy of Faryaab. Stickied in the Original Android section, right at the top.

If you don't know the difference between rooting and flashing, then for the love of all that is holy, don't do ANYthing before reading and learning. Start here, here, and here.

No offense, but if you're not sure of anything, your "answer" to his question will only serve to confuse him more.
There IS an official version of ICS.
You do NOT need to root to update to the official Samsung released ICS.
He COULD flash a CF-root kernel, but that isn't what he asked for, and given that he didn't ask to root, but asked specifically for ICS, this doesn't help him.
Read, read, read.....and for the love of god back up your efs!

I came from the Galaxy S forums where all these ROMs and updates were given to you on a silver platter instructions and all
I'm using a GSM Canadian Droid RAZR purchased from Fido, running on the Virgin Mobile network. (Yeah, its complicated.)
System Version:
651.167.3331.XT910.Fido.en.CA
Android Version
2.3.6
I've been waiting all this time for the Verizon update, but only realized a week ago that Verizon is CDMA, and theres no chance I'll get it on my Fido branded RAZR.
What do I need to do? I downloaded the LATAM 2.3.6 GB as well as the 4.04 ICS. I have RSD Lite but no idea how to use it. My device is complete vanilla. Do I have to root/install CWM in order to install 2.3.6?
And should I do data/cache wipe. If so, how?
Thanks in advance. I really don't know whats going on.
Oops. I thought this would automatically be moved to Q&A after I checked that box. Could a mod move it there please?
Thanks

Hey, I'm actually in the same boat as this guy. I have a Rogers GSM Razr and I'm wondering if I want to install an ICS kernel based ROM, I have to use RSD lite to flash up to an ICS stock rom, and then flash the rom I want, right?
Thanks for the link Pedro.
Does my phone need any modifications (root/CWM) in order for me to flash with RSD?

Not really. Take your phone as a latam device. Any rom for a latam razr will work fine.
Just follow the procedure for ics on latam razr.
You have 4 Langs on ir. Eng. Pt. En. Fr.
And I posted a working 1 click root method today.
Btw, tell the guys about it
Cheers

I got myself an xt910 yesterday and it came with the 2.3.6 version. So should I do the update from about phone section? Will the update take me to ics or jb? And is the update Im gonna be downloading a buggy one? Should I rather stay with my current gb one?
Thanks!
Note: Not planning to root anytime soon

The update will give you ICS 4.0.4. Yes go ahead and update it, no bugs. You can root it using EternityProject EasyRootICS v1.5.
If you want the Jellybean leak... read about it here
It was leaked on the CDMA version, but a hack is included in the instructions to get the GSM band working. That is a choice you have to make, though most have reported a stable and good working JB. Though you need root to do this, so you might want to skip it.
Hope the new phone works good for you!
Hey guys, I've got the MERetail version of the stock ICS ROM on my Razr Maxx which won't be updated to JB and I want to prepare my phone for the official JB update and I'd like to install a stock ICS ROM that will get the OTA, preferably the UK version (or Europe version, if there is one).
Could you guys point me in the right direction? (file to download)
Is this the tutorial I need to follow: MOTOROLA Tools [Specially for Noobs] ?
Thanks a lot!
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php here are the latest ics, and that is the right tutorial, flash the one you want with rsd lite.
but if your razr hasn't been made in germany, france or uk, you will probably not receive the ota update even though you flash a uk retail version. it depends on the imei...
go to motorola website and contact them asking in which country was your razr made, giving them the imei, that way you will know for sure if you will ever receive the update.
Oh, I didn't know that. But anyway, worst case scenario I could flash the JB stock ROM once it comes out, right?
Yes, I don't think I will receive the update either so I will also flash it when it all be out. You don't need to ask this in every thread

I like to have second opinions And for a new user, having the same question and answer in lots of places makes it easier to find. Why is that a bad thing? I've never understood the logic of this rule in online forums...
It's ok ask in every forum I do not make the rules, I gave you my opinion so that a moderator doesn't consider you a spammer

It's just that I haven't heard this before, about the IMEI. Is it just a Motorola thing? I've had HTC's and Samsung's before and they could all have their CID modified (country ID?)...
Oh and I've also seen people mention CID in the Razr forums, I think...
Cid is unique on every phone, read about it also here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078021

no, you can't replace just delete / restore (your own) it. CID = CustomerID.
Oh, rightt. So the trick is to actually delete it completely, not replace it with a good one.. Hmm, it looks very complicated
I think I will wait for the fastboot files for now
Thanks, guys!
