I am having trouble finding and how to make a startup script for my SGP 5. I have multiple Android devices in my network: HTC Vivid, Dell Streak 7, and two SGPs. I want to change my hostname on startup so I don't need to insert it every time.

My phone freezes on any games I play. Once I play for about
5 minutes, everything freezes up except the music. What can I do to fix this?

If your rooted and have a custom kernel, try "voltage control" app to change governor and scheduler.

I'm not rooted, what should I do? Root my phone?

Are the games file stored on your sdcard? What class is your card? Maybe your games aren't designed for dual core?
Check your sdcard is not corrupted.

Sounds to me like you're experiencing problems related to Issue 17623 SoundPool HeapDump on DualCore
If that is the case, you've got a few choices:
1). Disable sound effects (not just mute).
2). Use a kernel with 2nd Core support and disable one core.
3). Update to a newer ROM. I first noticed the problem being resolved in the XXKL1 ROM, but it's possible it was resolved prior to that.
Recently, Voice S, a siri like app of the Samsung Galaxy SIII, was ported to several devices. I can confirm that it does work on the Atrix, It works like a charm for me. The only known problem i know of is that if you try and set up a customized wake up command, you will get FC until you wipe app data in settings.
this works for ICS only.
Let me know how it works for you guys!
If you long press the search key, you can set it up to automatically launch instead of opening the actual app.

Working version, props to fellow xda member for finding this out. Here is the link!

works for me but is extremely novel, not much functionality that couldn't be done faster manually.

I'm trying to help out a friend, she is thinking about giving her grandfather an old android based phone. Her plan is so that he can use it to only access internet radio stations across wifi, he won't need the phone side of it.
In order to simplify his usage, is it possible to make it so that the radio app is front and centre the whole time? Ideally, pressing the home button would have no effect meaning that he would stay in the radio app the whole time.
I realise that I'm probably looking for some kind of parental controls for kids app but I would like to have a few pointers to narrow the list down a bit.
Thanks for any help given
Based on my memory, I remembered that there is an app that can modify the buttons. The only problem is that the app requires a rooted android

That's ok, the phone itself is already rooted, courtesy of XDA
Can you remember the name of the app?
If I'm not wrong, it's a tweak that came with the rom

So I recently installed the Paranoid Android rom on my Sam S4. This rom allows hybrid properties. I can pick between tablet ui, phablet, ui and of course the normal phone ui. Eventually I started getting a failure message that said System Interface has stopped working... The problem disappeared by setting my phone on tablet ui mode. This means that the statusbar is on the bottom of the screen and some system related layouts is tinytiny..
Now I'm tired of tablet ui and want to go back, but then I start getting the fail message again. It pops up every 5 seconds so it's pretty annoying. Any idea on how to fix this? Without doing a hard reset?
