"Messaging has stopped" and keyboard issue - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I restored to stock firmware (i tried two different versions, WITH wipe), first azerty keyboard is not working (when pressing a it's q, etc... it's not qwerty though, really strange) and after each reboot i get "Messaging has stopped" quite annoying for a phone, isn't it? How do i fix all that?
Thanks!

It happened once with me also, i did:
1. full wipe
2. re-restore
3. another full wipe (after re-restore)
After that my messaging and keyboard working again

What should i use to restore? I used Mobile Odin Pro & selected wipe, i restore twice as you say but it didn't change anything..

[Q] Hardware Keyboard sudenly stopped working! Please Help!

Hi!
I own my Xperia mini pro x10 about 3 month.
Tried more ROM-s, and stopped at CyanoComb v1.2.
Everything was OK till yesterday, when suddenly my hardware keyboard stoped working. Neither of buttion won't responding. I CAN navigate with 3 buttion on face side of phone (back home..) and with volumen up and down.
I tried to make factory restart, then wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache throught recovery, but the situaition is same.
Then I tried to install stock ROM (few of them) and the hardware keyboard problem is still out of function.
Then I tried to format /system partition and installed again stock ROM (again few od them) and same
Whats happend?
Phone wasn't used so frequently that this would happen..
Is really my hardware keyboard died or it is a software problem?
Please help!

[Q] Sony Ericsson Screen

ROM - MiniCM7 Pro - V18
I was using v7 previously, was planning on doing a reset but instead i decided to upgrade to v18
wiped davlik cache
did factory reset
installed new rom
Since then any apps i've tried to install from markey, from apk, and through adb cause the phone to reboot...
any ideas?
Looking like it may be a hardware issue... just tried to install GingerDX pro 17 and EVERYTHING force closes... I can't even get through the setup process.
Edit:
Rebbote and got the lock screen, once I unlocked it the first thing that pops up is "complete action using: launcher pro or zeam launcher". both force closes. Screen goes black, and comes back up with "the process cm.google.process.gapps has stopped...."
Firmware update fixed it kind of, got amazon and pandora installed. Amazon Appstore failed at first, however a reboot fixed the install, but force closing every time i open it
Uninstall and Reinstall fixed that... Guess it's just trial and error from this point on
New Update on the issue...
All of a sudden after a reboot, the market and all of the apps I installed since getting MiniCM7 Pro - V18 back have disappeared. Tried to reinstall the ROM and market is still gone
I can attempt to get the market back, just curious if anyone else has had issues similar to this
Wiped davlik cache
factory reset
reinstalled rom
factory reset again
And its working again
I got everything working as intended... then my battery died, and I'm stuck on the Sony Ericsson Screen. At work so I can't do much to fix it, and can't get to the recovery menu.

S2 stuck in call mode

I've searched around the forums and so far, most of the results were people having trouble with their phone getting stuck in recovery/boot/download mode.
My phone, however, is stuck in the call mode where the keypad takes up most of the screen. Everything else is working fine with the phone, as I can see unread text messages and other programs that running and notifying me of updates in the background. Wifi and data work fine as well.
The problem is, I can't get out of the call keypad mode and into my home screen with all my apps. I've tried restarting, turning it on/off, taking out the battery, and charging it via USB to the computer. Nothing is working! Please help :crying:
Clear data on phone & if that doesn't work maybe try a factory reset ?
Do the following steps below:
- Boot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
- reboot system now
This issue sounds familiar......like a launcher problem. I have 3 fixes:
Clear data of your launcher
or download another launcher, by trying to get to your play store app by universal search or from the playstore on the pc
if strangely none of the above works, flash another rom or reflash your rom if you like it that much
Note that this message should have been the 1st, cause if im right the two solutions you recieved above should work. The problem is if your running stock ics 4.0.4, you may end up with the emmc brick bug if you use recovery or do a factory reset. We dont know what your using since you never told us.

[Q] DSC 2.0/2.3 Start system keep crashing and I cant access the ROM

Hey guys!
Im a first time rooter but somehow managed to root my Dell, flash Streakmod on it and install the DSC 2.0 ROM and then upgrade it to 2.3.
My problem is that the moment I unlock the screen after rebooting the phone I get a wall of notifications telling me that googlewhateversystem stopped working along with other applications. It seems that somewhow the whole introduction part of the phone went to ****.
Help?
Did you do both resets for DSC, namely Option 1 from the main menu and the reset option in StreakMod?

Click to collapse
Yes. I installed DSC and after that made a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik etc... then I rebooted and did another factory reset on the dell standard recovery.
EDIT: I restored a backup and installed DSC again but this time I didnt do a factory reset and just wiped the cache. I managed to get on the phone but now I get constant notifications that android.phone has crashed. Any ideas?
EDIT2: I removed my sim card and restarted the phone. Everything works fine now. Seems like the Rom doesnt like my simcard. Well I guess I wont use it then. The keyboard is way to small anyway. I just wish that there would be a good ROM for me to use.
Pardon my english im from germany
It's odd that you're having such issues. I use DSC myself and have not had any problems using it. In fact, switching back to DSC solved a pair of annoyances that appear in the CM7 ROMs for the Streak: no camera zoom and the dialpad buttons being too small. If you're willing to put up with those annoyances, try using CM7 with _n0p_'s Phoenix kernel or one of the CM7 derivatives like Longhorn. Just be aware that other than DSC none of the Gingerbread ROMs are being actively maintained.
I honestly dont know what the problem is myself... I flashed it with ams and dps and then the recovery, installed the zip, wiped everything, fixed permissions and rebooted.
I tried this several times and everytime it has these crashes that make it unable to use the phone. Also after restoring my backup after the install the buttons on the bottom of the phones flash every minute or so.
Geez... why does it have to be so complicated xD?
EDIT: I decided to take a deep breath and try the whole procedure again. Flashed the phone, installed the zip, installed the update, wiped everything, rebooted, after the boot waited 10 mins and voila! It works like a charm!
If you Strephon now would be able to tell me how to change the keyboard to the default one then I'll gladly give you my thanks!
If you mean the Swype Keyboard...
Settings > Language & Keyboard. Make sure Swype is checked. Tap OK on any popups that appear and exit settings.
When you go to type something, e.g. a response to this post, press and hold the input area (the spot where you type). The menu that pops up should have an option labeled "Input Method". Tap on Input Method to change keyboards.
No I mean the standard big fat keyboard from the original Dell Streak 5 Rom. The DSC one is way to small for my fingers to type fast AND accurate.
The "big fat keyboard" is the Swype keyboard. The only other option is the default Android keyboard, with much smaller keys.

Back & Menu buttons not working, nor keyboard

I'm really hoping someone can help me. My back and menu buttons stopped working today, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with a failed Swype install.
I'm running AOKP 4.4.2 (1/25 build) on my VZW Galaxy S4 (jfltevzw). The phone has been running great, but I can't stand the new kitkat keyboard. I decided to try Swype again, after dumping it a few years back.
I installed the free Swype (which obnoxiously comes with Dragon also), but I couldn't get past step two (select default keyboard). The wizard just wouldn't progress further. I went into the menu to try switch manually, but I trying to type would just bring up the installer again. I tried switching back to the stock keyboard via Settings>Language, but nothing would happen when I tried to type. The only thing I could do was reboot.
When I booted back up, the menu and back buttons would no longer work. I tried clearing dalvik and cache, resetting permissions, reinstalling AOKP and Gapps, and so on and so forth. I'm backing everything up to do a hard wipe, but I'm not holding my breath.
Has anyone seen this problem before? Is it failing during the Swype install just coincidence? I can't see how it could be....
After a hard-reset / factory wipe, everything is working again.
I will not be installing Swype on AOKP/KitKat again, hehe.
