[Q] micro hdmi & usb for Lapdock - Motorola Photon 4G

Hey there. So I Lapdock and modded to work with Photon. Problem is that i have Defender case and to use ot, I have to remove it everytime. Bought extention cables: micro usb & hdmi. Now after i connect to lapdock, it does not see the phone, and phone only see hdmi cable connected, and Lapdock works as the monitor only, and notlike it supposed to. If I plug phone without cable, Lapdock sees it and work as designed. So not sure if that problem with cables or something else. Phone is completely stock and unmodded.....thanks.

[Q] Dual micro USB?

Hi together,
ive asked me if it is possible to use an adapter for 1x micro usb (plug) -> 2x micro usb (jack).
Could the phone handle 2 USB devices at the same time?
Maybe then it is possible to use the HDMI output and the USB host parallel?
For example to use an TV as screen and an HDD as the source for a movie.
This would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

When the connector is used for HDMI I doubt it can be used as USB at the same time, I'n sorry.
Maybe in a few months cyanogenmod provides a hack, if there will be an dual adapter soon.
We will see. Thank you.

The hardware needs to allow this if it'd become possible. You need a really smart USB dongle that knows how to split the HDMI output from the USB output.
Sounds a little too difficult to ever happen.
Hmm thats right. I think i still dream xD
But thank you.

it is not possible. because as stated on this forum many times before, the type of usb connection is determined by the resistor between pin 4 and 5 of the micro usb connector. the strength can tell the phone, that there is either a charger, a pc connection, car kit, jig, usb otg or mhl connection present.
and i believe, this is an important thing to keep in mind for so many things:
for instance, why the original car kit triggers car mode and generic car charging cables don't or why not just any micro usb male to usb a female will work as a otg cable or why flashing should be done with the original usb cable...
so if you were to buy or build a micro usb hub, since it has no resistor in the very plug that connects to the phone, it cannot be used for anything but charging and quite frankly, i wouldn't connect more than one charger to the phone.
however, if you want to use your phone for presentations or watching movies and still be able to use it, get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or a bluetooth presenter or do it the other way around and use a usb input device and transfer your media using allshare. everything else is physically impossible, so neither CM nor XDA can do anything about it. the only device that can do what you want is the new motorola. it has a separate micro usb and micro hdmi port and a docking station, so you can use it as a full notebook.
Thats obvious. Thank you.

[Q] See phone on tv + external mouse/keyboard

I was wondering how do you go around to surf the internet on your big screen tv and also use an external usb mouse/keyboard?
I would need a "Micro USB Host Mode Cable" to hook the mouse/keyboard to the phone AND I also have to use a "MHL Adapter Micro USB To HDMI Converter" to see the phone in the tv and both use the one and only usb micro from the phone... Is anyone using a usb hub with usb micro to usb micro connections? Has anyone tried to use a regular usb hub to connect more than one usb device? Do you need to be rooted to do this?
I guess one option is to find a bluetooth keyboard/mouse but that seems to be expensive...
Thanks!
I know that most people us the MHL adapter for hdmi and bluetooth for keyboard and mouse.
Is there a list anywhere as far as which bluetooth mouse/keyboard works fine? I hate to go that route since I will be using the phone this way at both home and work. I dont really want to be hauling the keyboard/mouse back and forth. At least if I could connect using the usb I could use bluetooth on one place and usb in the other....
Anyway, if you can point me out to where there is a list I will appreciate it...
I still like to hear if anyone is doing this just using usb...
Anyone knows a list of proven bluetooth keyboards/mouse?
Guess not.

I bought this keyboard and mouse and it works great. You can buy it for $44 shipped (they will accept your offer).
Multi-touch is a no go, but it is still pretty slick.

[Q] Nebtop

Hi!
Can i use usb mouse or keyboard with my razr via usb otg without dock?
I guess you should be able to since you can use USB drives on the OTG, and since the lapdock contains a USB keyboard with mouse the drivers should be in the phone.
I've successfully used a BT keyboard and mouse with nebtop, but that's different.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
I'll post again to this thread if i ever get myself one of those OTG cables as I'm eager to try
You should be able to do the OTG Hack, i.e. OTG Cable-> Power Y Cable -> Hub (With power plugged in on the y cable) I've Used a mouse/Keyboard/Card Reader and thumb drives this way. But there will be some power drain. The phone says it's charging but it does seem to lose some charge. I may just need a charge adapter that has more current.
There are YouTube videos on bow to get USB otg working on motorola phones, webtop or not.

Razr webtop travel adaptor + OTG

Hi guys,
I've just got Motorola webtop travel adaptor for my Razr, it is working well, webtop mode can be launched.
However, my OTG cable cannot work over this travel adaptor even with Y-usb cables with power supply (not worked with mouse, keyboard, usb drives).
I've tried without the travel adaptor, the OTG cable is working well with Y-usb cables with power supply.
Can anyone help?
I Believe the port on the adapter is for charging only.
In the HD Station I think it internal OTA goes to a 4 port hub with the webtop enabler hooked to one of the ports and the other 3 out the back.
So you'd need to plug your OTA into the phone, have they power y cable and hub. Then'd you'd need to make a cable to plug the adapter into the hub. which would take to much work.
On my setup I bought an attrix dock on amazon for $30 and a microusb extension from usbfirewire.com for around $8-$11 and just plugged the HDMI from the phone directly into the tv.

[Q] Atrix Lapdock with Bluetooth

I searched the forum and could not find this having been asked, but if it already has been, please feel free to point me in the right direction:
I have a Atrix 4G and lapdock and have been experiencing difficulty with the keyboard/trackpad timing out and becoming unresponsive after a few minutes. I have tried different ROMs (Nottatchtrix, Stock, CM7, CM10 [epinter]) and have purchased the adapter cables to see if the USB connector was not sticking out enough (read about that on another thread). None of that worked. Did RMA with Motorola and they returned it saying it works.
My question is: has anyone attempted to use a USB Bluetooth adapter of some sort to make the Atrix recognize the lapdock as a bluetooth keyboard/mouse.
I was hoping to do this as a solution to my current problem with the lapdock since the HDMI still works.
Not sure why you want to put a BT adapter into the lapdock since the phone already has BT inbuilt. Are you thinking that by putting a BT adapter into the lapdock, you can communicate with the phone separately without the phone actually plugged in? If so, then you are out of luck as the Lapdock is a "dumb device" and will only activate when the phone is plugged in. It does not hold any processing or logic outside of it being a USB hub and basically a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse). It will not support BT adapters being used in the way you think it will.
