[Q] Face unlock on passion rom - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm new here but I am familiar with roms and all the technical stuff and I just flashed the 13.1 version of the passion build for my vibrant. I was wondering if the face unlock works and how to get it. Also to flash rooms and mods can I just download the said zip and use astro or es file explorer so I can put it at the root of my internal SD card because I don't have a converter for the micro SD and I rooted and flashed with AIO 2.5 for my vibrant.

You need to mod the vibrant to have a front facing camera, then later download the file for it. You can put it at the root of the internal sd, but why not just transfer it from the computer and transfer it there?

[Q] Sd slot problems

Hi, my atrix sd slot just stopped working :S anyone has had this problem?
Also the main problem is the slot stopped working before i even rooted... now i cant find any guides about how to root that doesnt need external sd, or also flashing rom without external sd... i cant even install tenfars recovery since i need to delete some file so it doesnt overwrites the stock one and i cant cause i cant acces root explorer etc etc... its a circle of problems... anyolne has an idea or has same problem? also any idea if the roms ca be flashed on internal sd?
thanks
try a hard reset to see if that fixes it? worked for me on FP reader. Otherwise try to get it replaced.
you can flash roms using the internal storage and you can root without sd-ext. if you plug in using USB for file transfer, when you mount, it should mount your internal anyhow.
if on 2.3.4 use this method to unlock: http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/motorola-atrix-hacks/3039-root-2-3-4-using-fastboot.html
Oh alright tnks i managed to root it finally! one more question so i dont mess up my phone... i was unlocked on .83 but since i thought i wasnt gonna be able to root and install custom roms i went with official .91 of att, so theres anyway to install a custom rom still? or im stuck on this?

[Q] Question about Simplistic RC1.1 ~A SuperLite ROM~

I dl'd the rom today and installed on my SD card. I then extract the boot.img file from the PH98.img and flashed it via fastboot. When I went ot install the rom I got an SD card error (Status 6). I removed the sd card deleted the rom and placed the dl'd copy back on my SD card. I got the same error. Any help out there? Do I need to use the PH98.img?
Also. does anyone know if the MMS works in this app?
Not to put down the work of anyone, but with the number of Sense ICS ROMs out right now that are stable I would be a little leery of this one. Trying to develop a ROM and make it stable without having the device the ROM is for is a tricky proposition. There's only so much you can do in the terminal without being able to account for hardware inconsistencies. Just my two cents. It sounds like the PH is intended to install the boot.img automatically. Have you had any other issues with your SD?
No other issues with the SD card. Am I wrong in thinking that extracting the boot.img and loading via fastboot accomplishes the same as allowing the phone to load the PH img?

[Q] Can't Mount SD Card CleanRom DE 1.2

I hope Scott will see this.
Anyway I updated to CRDE 1.2 and everything was great.
Then I saw the beats audio on all apps mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587168).
I flashed that and now I can't mount my SD Card properly. It will mount it but not show the files that are on it correctly. Then if I try to put any files on it from my computer, it just closes the window and says there is no disk in Drive H.
I can't get to it from ES File Explorer. I tried going to the folder and it shows some files but I can't access anything.
I can't mount via Recovery issue as I get the whole there is no disk in Drive H problem again.
Anyone have any ideas?
I was having the same issue. If you flash the old firmware patch it should clear it up, just flash it right after you flash the rom.
1 flash rom
2 flash old firmware patch
3 in hboot flash the PH98IMG.zip
do it all in that order and you should be good.
Are you sure you didn't have this problem before the beats patch? The beats patch shouldn't have effected your SD card at all. I'd follow the suggestions above ^
same exact thing happened to me, just go to amon ra, and flash from SD card and in the CleanROM folder there should be old patch file,

I'm certain I didn't because I was listening to music early that day on my phone. I'm using the new firmware so should I still flash the old firmware patch?
Thank you everyone for replying.
Well I tried flashing the firmware patch and I'm glad I had a nandroid I lost all ability to read from the SD card. So that didn't work either lol.

Need help recovering photos from bad vibrant

I'm trying to get files (my photos mostly) off the internal storage of my Vibrant. I don't care about getting the Vibrant working again, just getting my files off it. I can get into recovery mode, but mounting usb storage *does not work*, even tried unplugging and replugging the phone but no dice. I can install zips from the sd card (though it takes 5x longer than normal) but any ROM I install, stock, cyanogen, slim, etc. won't actually finish booting.
Because USB mounting doesn't work, I'd like to use CWM to copy all the files on the internal storage to the sd card. Then I can put the sd in another computer and get the files off. In CWM I can do a backup to sd, but that doesn't backup photos, just the rom. Is there a way to generally copy files from internal to the sd using CWM?
Also, the entire time I'm in recovery mode my PC makes the sound for a usb device being connected and then disconnected, assume that has something to do with the Vibrant being generally busted.
In summary:
Trying to recover files from vibrant phone storage
Can't boot any regular ROM
Can get into CWM recovery
USB mount in CWM recovery *does not work*
Can install zip from sd card
Can backup to sd card
Have a spare working vibrant for charging battery
Any ideas?
Okay I'll see if I can help any. First of all, can you successfully use Odin to return to stock firmware? Have you even attempted using Odin?
Can try using recuva or there is another one too but the XDA search is missing right now. Moped_Ryder usually recommends that one that I can't remember right now, but once the search button is back, I'll let you know what it is. Works like a charm. Droid recover or Droid Files, ahh I can't think of it but there is a solution on here somewhere.
Try a program called Android Commander.
Ive transferred files in CWM with it all the time.
Agreed with android commander. It has always worked for me. There are other solutions too with these new kernels these days. You can download Devil kernel or subzero via PC(They both include new file manager in recovery).Put it on your external card, flash, reboot back into recovery. Mount your internal and external cards from mounts and storage menu. Go to file manager and copy/paste away.

[Q] What went wrong accessing the External SD?

Hi there, I have been using Galaxy s2 for 2 years now, and so far i have no problem, but recently a problem comes. It is involving my external SD (this may have been posted, so I apologize should this already been posted).
I was using Biftor ROM 8.2 (4.1.2) until then I upgrade to Biftor Rom 9.0, and when I wanted to access the External SD via My Files, it hang, and the program force-quit by itself, but in Gallery, I can open the files from my External SD such as music, video, pictures, etc2. I also tried unmounting and remounting, but..same result..I cannot browse it through My Files. I have tried using other File Explorer, like ES File Explorer, but it got same result as My Files. I also tried different ROM, like NeatROM, but I got same result also...So i have to reflash official 4.0.3 (is the one I have atm). I tried the 4.0.3, but this time, it can access my external SD via My Files...any solution to solve the external SD issue, since I want to upgrade to 4.1.2 rooted ROM? Thank you

Does ur PC recognises the ext-sdcard, if so then connect phone to PC under USB mass storage mode and run 'Checkdisk' to see for any errors on the same.
If u find any then, BKp the data on it and do a format (fat32) and restore the data and then see if the File managers on the phone can read it
Yes, it does recognize in PC and also in USB storage. I did error checking but no error found. so i presume i have to BKed and then format it?
