[Q] mock locations - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 and have an App that I'd like to spoof my location. I've downloaded Location Spoofer and set if for Ireland and then set my phone to allow mock locations. The app tells me it can't get a reliable location for my phone. Does anyone have any ideas. PS.. I had both the app and spoofer running on an Iphone with no hiccups. I'm a newbie to the android world, so please help me.

[Q] Wifi Location Service Force Quit?

So, while I know the NT does not have a GPS receiver, I figured there might be a location setting like the Wi-Fi iPad 2 has where it uses local wi-fi signals to determine it. However, any time I try to activate this feature either through the NT Settings app or the option that Beautiful Widgets offers, it force closes and I get bubkiss. Without this it's tough to get local weather info if I'm not in my house (because I manually set the location in that case). Just wondering if anyone had any insight as to how to get location service working on a rooted NT without it force closing? If not, I can live without it. Hopefully when CM9 comes out, we'll get that in addition to Bluetooth.
You might try these steps to get network location to work.
Yeah unfortunately that doesn't really do what I was looking for, but in any case I have my answer. Real location determination is not available yet via wifi network, you can only fool a rooted NT into believing you're in a certain location by using an app. Fair enough, but disappointing.

[Q] Incorrect Location Without GPS enabled

Hello!
I did try searching the forums on this site and others but haven't found others discussing the exact same problem so here goes.
On my Galaxy S2, if I open Google Maps, my location shows my location incorrectly. I can understand without GPS it won't be exact, but I'm seeing my location as being at least a few blocks away no matter where I am. Same thing if I'm connected to Wifi, should that help or not? I used to own an old Windows Mobile 6.1 phone and before I would turn the GPS on, Google Maps would be off by a few feet, maybe a block or so. I was with Bell (CDMA) and I'm still with Bell (GSM).
"Why don't you just enable GPS and forget about it", you'll say. My problem is that I need more accurrate locations without GPS. I use a Cerberus which will allow me to connect remotely to the phone to get it's location if it's lost or stolen. If the phone is on, no problem, Cerberus will enable GPS in the background and I'll get the location accurately.
If the phone battery has died (which won't take long with the S2), I need to use the "Location History" to find the last known location (which won't have been retreived using GPS since I don't keep it on all day long).
1. Does anyone else have a problem retrieving semi-accurate location without GPS?
2. Why would I have accurate(ish) location with my old Windows phone and not with my Galaxy?
Thanks in advance!

Hey man, I have the WiFi version and I noticed that the stock Navigation app sometimes has problems finding my location compated to my Samsung phone. I was on the road last week traveling between France and Germany and on some occasions I had to use phone to get directions because the tablet would simply not get any GPS signal. On other occasion it would work. It seems to be pretty random. I'll post if I find more about this.
Hi thanks for the info, ive been messing around with it some more since i made this thread and this morning i was finally able to get a GPS signal and get google maps to zoom in on my current location but i had to go into settings > location services and disable Google's location service and turn off my wifi so it was just the GPS running. But after doing so i re-enabled the settings and turned WiFi back on and it worked fine lol.
maybe its just a bug in the software i don't know but your right it does seem spotty at the best of times.

Ive seen this as well. I also noticed the weather widget never updates location despite being set to auto refresh.

App for connections management

Hi everybody. Does anyone know if there is an Android app that ensure to only use Wifi connection when there is a valid connection saved over the dataconnection. I would like that app to also turn on/off only the data connection(2g/3g/4g/5g, etc...) when a wifi connection is connected. I don' t know if it is standardly done on any Android OS above 6.0.
I could not find anyapp on google searchs or google play store. Can anybody suggest me one/many?
Thanks in advance

Need help with geo restricted stream app

I need some help regarding a TV streaming app which is supposed to work only in UK.
It worked well When I was there (for the first time On a college trip). When I try to open it in USA, it gives an error that it is not available in this region.
So I tried Two things,
First, I used VYBR VPN and connected to the servers in UK. However the app continue to give me the same error.
Secondly I use the fake GPS app and set my location to UK. However despite using the fake GPS app as well as the VPN, the app itself somehow gets to know that it is not in UK and it does not run. Although when I have the fake GPS location on, and connected to the VPN, and if I opened the Google maps, it shows that I am in UK. But still somehow the app knows that I am not.
Any ideas?
Thank you very much.
