3D games on jazzed up p500

well i just wanted to hear your opinions boys and girls
since im still lacking some funds for a new handset ,i just wanted to know how is it in those flashy looking 3d games with p500 when its with hw acceleration/ jit /oc /custom ROM - you name it.
tell the name of the game and what u experience please
***edit : what are the experiences in games that require multitouch ? less lag (i figure that it should be less since cpu gets kinda boosted, but thats only theory, what about in practice ? )
With one exception (Pocket Legends), the 3D experience is "meh" at best. The REALLY good ones need a larger screen to be usable.
With just JIT and HW accel enabled I can play NFS Shift just fine. Pretty fun for a cell racing game too.
It really all depends on how well the game is coded. Once we get gingerbread, it will be better as well. Touch slows down some 2D games, while other 3d games are fine. Don't try Q3android....
In the 3d realm I currently play Pocket Legends, NFS Shift, Lava Ball 3D, Ride Pinball, and Prism. Starting to toy with Psx4droid as well
This is with the beta kernel drellisdee installed, but not OCd, as well as the above mentioned JIT and HW accel, and 32MB heap.
ride pinball is a sweet game.. one of my top picks.
what about games like raging thunder 2 etc ? and do u guys use the virtual joystic in pocket legends ?
and na, the screen is fine lol im used to my mini w880 screen (lol u should see it )
NFS Shift
I used play NFS Shift. but not found it in market apps and it's better you will find to NFS.apk.
you can find almost anything in the internet just gotta look for it.
cmon guys, more feedback :X ?
assasins creed HD - screen is off
HAwkx -- playable but loads slow
NFS shift --smooth
Mini Gore -smooth
Legends - smooth
My paper Airplane 3D - smooth
all tested and played on stocked rom before i mod
sweet
hawx is a cool game btw

[Help] Should I buy the Xperia S?

Hey guys/girls! So basically i had the Galaxy Note for some time now and really enjoyed the experience, however sold the Note in order to start saving up for a new phone. So i got around $475 and will be able to save up some more for a new phone. Here is what i want to know:
Should i go for the Xperia S or Galaxy Nexus? [Note: Looking for good lag free performance and good gaming performance]
If you recommend this please give your insight on the outdated hardware and whether the Adreno 220 GPU and the Snapdragon S3 CPU are will be able to cope up with the new demands of the future. If you own an Xperia S then please tell me how games like NOVA 3 work and wheter you face any lag or hicups in usage? Also please tell me about the ICS performance and does it make a large difference?
I have tested many games on my Xperia S and before starting anything, I just alert you that I have never played games on mobile phones before; so this is my first experience with mobile games. I always played PS3 and 360 so I am fond of console type performance maybe which is not available on ANY other mobile phone, I dont know.
HD Games which run very smooth on my device is: Asphalt 6 (I don't feel great graphics as in videos though, is it only me?), Shadowgun, Need for speed Hot Pursuit, Virtua Tennis, Adventure of Tintin, Samurai Vengeance, Battlefield 2, PES 2012(Haven't tested fifa 12) and Max Payne.
Now games which I feel does not work good: Modern combat 3 - I feel it lags or maybe low framerate, Ultimate Spiderman - not good graphics, Dead Trigger (This game only has problem with some Xperia S - probably will be fixed soon), GTA 3 - Lags sometimes.
The most interesting point is recently I downloaded Dark Knight Rises which is not available in play store, and made by same Gameloft as Ultimate Spiderman and it works VERY great. High graphics and good gameplay. Then why did they don't enable high graphics for Ultimate Spiderman ? - If we try to do this manually to enable high graphics on Spiderman, it does not work smooth
The point is I don't think our device is not capable of these games, but how developer make it compatible. When I was purchasing this mobile I know I would find some problems with the device in terms of gaming but I want a better phone overall i.e Unique Design, performance.
You won't get THD games, like Shadowgun THD, Fruit Ninja THD, in Dead Trigger some effects would be disabled. Some game devs make games high definition games for Tegra Devices only - you can search play store for THD.
Also you can see Youtube, players playing THD games with THD graphics on there adreno phones. You need to search on google for finding THD games for all devices apk though. See this video, Dead Trigger works with Tegra graphics on Xperia S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDZN0dV-RJU (Game dev will not gurantee smoothness for this if you play THD games on Xperia S lol)
So in conclusion, if you only want Gaming Device get Galaxy S3, S2 or maybe HTC One X. S2 was most popular phone so most probably games are already tested on S2. But If you are willing to play games on your console and PC and in spare time on Mobile then I would recommend Xperia S - No Phone can compete with our LED Bar

Poor Performance 3D Games

hey guys..
Well i was wondering how is the 3d performance of games on your devices?
I am quite unsatisfied with the performance of S2..mainly in 3d gaming..
Though most of the games run flawlessly.. but the open world games lag quite a lot on s2..
I have seen considerable fps drops at few places in open world 3d games like :
1. Gangstar rio city
2. The dark knight rises
3. amazing spiderman
4. gta3
5 backstab etc..
So i would just like to know that the others are facing this problem too? or is it my phone only? or could be my rom/kernel combination reducing my 3d performance?
Currently i am on neatrom lite with siyah 3.2
Again i want to mention that the games usually work good with proper fps..but at many places like when lots of builidings and stuff are there...there is quite a big fps drop while rotating camera or moving ..
Please guys do mention about your 3d performances..i am quite FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED at my phone's behaviour..such a hyped phone and not givin satisfactory performance..
thanks
The games in your list i tried is gangstar rio and gta 3. In gta3 it doesn't lag at all while in gangstar rio, it lags alot because as someone posted (forgot where it was) the game was not optimized for our device. Bdw, running stock XWLPO with siyah 3.5.2.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
well i am a bit bothered..even in case of mutant roadkill..the starting scene (where the car jumps out ) is also slightly slow..
Plus the open world games like dark knight, spiderman etc lag a lot.. :|

[Q] Gameloft and other Games with HOX+

I was wondering which phone to buy and I am currently debating between this and the SGS3. I have AT&T, but I was wondering (I am leaning very heavily on the HOX+) do Gameloft Games work with this device and are they fluid (ie at least 30 FPS)? I will primarily game on this device and I spent many hours on NFL Pro 13 before my ipod got stolen, and I need to play that game.
Anyway, long-story short, I need to know how well GL games work with the HOX+, specifically NFL Pro 13, and other games such as Angry Birds, Modern Combat, etc.
Please and Thank you
P.S. I read the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969840 and I need to know if this issue got fixed.

I played the NFL game, and it ran fine on my HOX+
I would recommend the HOX+ over the SGS3, especially if you are going to Flash a custom rom.

Is there an app that shows FPS? I will kindly test games out for you if there is something to measure FPS. From what I can tell though is that there is little to no lag.

I am a proud owner of the HTC One X+ but i must say that the galaxy siii is better for gaming in general especially gameloft games. The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores. With gaming boost most games will run very smoothly without full effects however if you wish to mod the games to gain gsiii grade graphical effects most of the games will run around 25-60fps with gaming boost of course. The One X+ is better than the siii for emulators, running fpse with opengl at full speed without frameskip. The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems. Overall i believe that the One X+ is a better device than the gsiii due to the great matte finish and screen also THD games are a pleasure to play.
Hi, I am a n00b, this will be my first android/smartphone and I need some clarification.
"The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores."
What is gaming boost? Is it an app that I can find on the Play Store?
" The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems."
Could you define 'tweaking', I jailbroke my iPod touch, so is it similair to jailbreaking an ios device?
" especially if you are going to Flash a custom rom."
What is a custom rom?
Also, if someone knows how to add actual quotes it would be much appreciated.

Could you post a youtube video please. Pretty please with a strawberry on top
A custom ROM is a modification tha you can do to your phone's software. The HTC one x plus comes with jelly bean 4.1 and htc sense as its default software. You can change how your phone works when you install or flash a custom ROM. ROMs vary from device to device so you have to pick the right one for your phone. ROMs can change settings, user interface, remove bloat ware, and much more.

The gpu is linked to the cpu to save battery, for example if a thd game like shadowgun is played all four cpu cores will be used and the gpu will scale up to 512mhz, however if you run a gameloft game only one or two cores are used and the gpu throttles down to 50% making the game stutter. Gaming boost optimizes the cpu governor and unlinks the gpu from the cpu. By tweaks i mean scripts, roms and kernels, all that recquire rooting. Rooting is actually much simpler than jailbreaking an ios device, just download the noobproof tool box in the development section. As far a battery life and heat, better than the original One X but a tad worse than a gsiii. This is mainly due to the bright display and HTC`s poor software but is easily fixed with the insertcoin rom which has the option to reduce autobrightness and drastically increase batterylife.

So, which ROM do you recommend? Or, is it possible to root and still have sense 4+? I really like the interface. Is there also a "How to" root page somewhere? and like jailbreaking, does rooting void the warranty?
So only thd games run smooth and others wont? Im going to buy a new phone soon and i also wanna play some games on it.

Sure, my phone dont replaces my PC or console, anyway i play sometimes games on it and my one V is to small and to weak

So, what I am getting at is if I want to be able to play gameloft games (Really, only NFL Pro) and other games (ie Angry Birds, Solipskier, etc) I need to root my device. What about SGS3? Can I just "pick up and play", or do I have to root as well. I have heard that rooting voids the warranty, and I kinda need the warranty just in case something happens.
However, would it be possible to show a video on what gaming is like with and without the boost. I would really appreciate it.
Lastly, which phone, HTC One X+ or Samsung Galaxy SIII is more "future-proof"?
Again, sorry for my many questions, but I am a n00b, and I need to know if I am making the right decision.
I think the sgs3 dont need to be rooted, it runs everything itselfs

No, only gameloft games and some ea games will lag and that is only on stock, if you use gaming boost they will run almost as well as on an siii or iphone, games from other devs should all run well and emulators run better than on any other phone except maybe the new s4 pro phones however they have reduced performance due to heat throttling.

Okay, so I should try out the gameloft games first, and if they are laggy then root or upgrade to SGS3. My follow up question is that I heard that some GL games do not support HOX/HOX+, and I was wondering which games are not compatible, or did they fix that issue?

NDS4DROID working games list on the Note 2

So i was trying out the NDS emulator nds4droid on my note 2, and tried Zelda Spirit Tracks on it. Of course gameplay was bad and so most of the game but then i wondered if there were other any playable games that could be loaded on the emulator with the Note 2.
What about a list of games that work correctly?
Ill start with my two cents
##NOT WORKING##
-Zelda Spirit Tracks (horrible frame rate,SLOW, bad sound)
You test juste this game ? ^^

Well, you'll be amazed to see that a lot of games are working. But only some of them are fast enough to be really played.
Here is what I've tried so far
-Mario Kart DS=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Harvest Moon=> 2D game so not too slow, playable
-New super Mario=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Nintendogs=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 30 fps?)
-Mario&Luigi partners in time=> fully playable, 60fps can be reached just swap the screens to play comfortably. Cheat codes working
-Dr Kawashima's Brain Training=> good speed, but using the S-pen for some of the trainings remains too slow + some gfx glitches
-Cocoto Racer=>=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Simpsons game=> fully playable at full speed (60fps can be reached). Sadly the Simpsons' voices are laggy but that's not a real problem
-Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story: strange, it's really way slower than Partners in time, so for me, not really playable
I'm about half wat at Mario&Luigi partners in time now
I'm sure this is common knowledge, but Pokemon Black/White and Black2/White2 run while patched, but run incredibly slow as well. I think the highest in-game framerate i got was 21fps. I haven't tried, but I've heard that the Pokemon Platinum and below games work well enough to play.
Spirit Tracks does run quite choppy, however I will argue that it is playable with a moderate amount of frame-skip.
I got through the first dungeon before I got distracted by something else.
Im happy to report that Okamiden works like a charm!
