Preferred Rom, Top 5 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried most of the ROMs available under Dev Board. Curious to know other users preference. Mine is without doubt AOKP Nightlies. Great features overall and specially the 'hold-back-to-kill'. Cheers!

Hmm I don't have that many apps that regularly freeze to really need a hardware-based kill-button.
Only extweaks and Titanium sometimes hang upon opening.

Without a doubt I like Omega 8.1, since is stock and it let you customized any way you want.

Usually these what is best rom type threads get closed by the Mods as one their is no best mod two a preferred rom list can end up with number one the worst rom posted by users that know no different and three repetitive posting of identical threads day after day asking whats the best rom your best rom etc .

What Custom ROM would you recommend for decent battery life?

I am using Resurrection Remix 1.1 and find it very good. I have tried chicken v6 Lightning ROM and Miui but keep coming back to resurrection remix.
I open to giving others try if recommended.

Whichever one stops you using your phone. I'd therefore suggest picking whichever you consider the ugliest.

In which case I suggest a really old build of CyanogenMod 9, preferably one where the RIL issue hadn't been fixed yet
On the contrary, I am currently using HyDrOG3N ICS and loving it!
So what ugly ones are you using or have tried then?
I meant to say Checkrom v6 not chicken v6 doh

I like Resurrection remix very much as well, but battery life only lasts 20 hours +/-,
with moderate use, but it is the best ics rom out there!!!

Try Simplistic ROM Lite. It has fantastic battery life after a few cycles, and the developer keeps in contact with the users.
Here is the link to the ROM:

xethor what's battery life like on HyDrOGeN is there any stability issues? Do get many force close problems

We don't recommend any custom rom for decent battery life. For the simple reason there is no such thing as the "best custom rom for battery life". You have your phone setup differently to everyone else, you use your phone differently to everyone else and your phone came out of the factory slightly differently to everyone else's.
A rom that runs well for me might not run well for you.
I suggest you go the development sections of the forum & read the first few pages and the the last 10-20 pages of the particular threads devoted to different roms. That way you will get an idea of the features/pluses/minuses of each rom, and also see other users' experiences with that rom.
Then you can test different roms for yourself to find one that works best for you.
I'm tipping this thread gets closed when mods wake up.
In my opinion wanamlite has excellent battery life, certainly better than I got on a stock gingerbread build. The developer seems to take battery issues seriously and fixes them very quickly.

Agree but not if the same question is asked in a new post every day .
Some users mistake this for a help forum its actually XDA Developers forum not some kindergarten forum .

I follow the resurrection remix thread and every fifth or sixth question is the same how do you install ROM why will cwm not work when reboot phone on resurrection v1 the zip had to be but in ad sd card and boot into it every time. That thread is getting to much repeat questions.
apologies to anyone if this question has been asked to much

Best Rom For Battery Life?

Guys...any suggestion best rom for battery life?????
Best rom discussion is banned. Try them all until you get what you want.

Exactly what Arsaw said, each ROM has different functionalities, as well as different tweaks etc, their is no best ROM, the selection of a ROM is entirely based on personal preference dude. Try a few and see how YOU feel.

I think you have to read the corresponding ROM threads deeply, then be confident to check some ROMs on your phone by yourself.
Every user has different needs. So the best for the one might not be the best for the other.
P.S.: And be careful with your question for the best ROM => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881

It's all subjective.. Every single person has a different opinion.
And he's not being "hard", he's pointing out the rules for you, since you obviously didn't read them before you posted

What's the most stable Rom with everything working?

I dont really need sense 4 or best battery life I'm always next to my charger so that's fine I with or without sense is ok not really needed but stable download speeds is a must cuz I do some hardcore torrent downloads thanks and performance is a must to cuz I'm a hardcore gamer so basically I'd like a Rom for gaming and downloads I know the terms about you can't really say what's the best Rom cuz everyone is diff but I just need to know of some that are good for gaming vipersense is out no offense I love the the Rom but shadowgun kept freezing my phone and adownloader wouldn't download anything I left a download on all night it only downloaded 30 mb out of 7 gb this would probably give you an idea of what kind of Rom I'm looking for thanks

Umm from what you are describing as your needs you should just stick to stock experience because you will always run into small random bugs in virtually every custom ROM that most people who are experienced in flashing can easily fix or make workarounds or do relevant searches regarding their problems. Since battery life isn't an issue and complete stability is what you desire stick with stock/rooted debloated ROM or just flash faux kernel on top of stock ROM and over clock it using system tuner pro (for intense gaming if you feel the device is underperforming). Good luck

Since everyone is going to give you a different answer that won't be correct for your phone, we generally close these type of best/fastest/mostest threads whenever we see them. Like now. As stated above, try them all until you find the one you like.
Also, you might benefit from taking some time to read some of the stickied guides. I see you are new here and I understand the excitement and rush to post and ask everything at once, however, I believe that many of your questions have been asked and answered before so a little reading time might be the fastest way to pick it up.
Thank you,

You've been around long enough to know comparing the efforts of developers isn't good form on these boards. We're lucky that we have several devs working on projects that have come a long way. Unfortunately, all of the current JB and KK ROMs have some type of issue, mostly involving Bluetooth and portable hotspot tethering. At the moment I'd say the PACman ROM is closest to being ready. Followed closely by evervolv. I haven't tried MIUI yet, but the reactions in that thread have been very positive. Of course you could also try one of the CM ROMs which many have been using as daily drivers for awhile. Read the threads, see which ones have issues that would negatively affect you the most, then try the one that suits your needs the best.
Well yes I know what you're on about, I know about the developers putting in enormous amounts of efforts in the roms but the point was to highlight ics roms or those based on it seem to be bug free, I could use something like that myself to come up with a rom myself

Your first post asked about JB, this one about ICS. Two different animals. On ICS we have many great fully functioning stable ROMs it boils down to the level of bloat you want removed for you, the theming, and the amount of tweaking and optimization. The leanest one that still maintains a fully functional sense is the one I'm using the Energy ROM, however, it's dated and the dev indicated last week that he'd be updating soon. SuperAfnan has a couple of outstanding ROMs both themed and stock. The ARHD ROM was updated yesterday and is totally stock with tweaks, it's probably the closest to the stock factory ROM. Then if you can live with a few minor bugs involving Bluetooth and tethering, the Viper Amaze is one of the most heavily tweaked, optimized, and full featured ROMs for our device, and it's sense 4 not 3.6 like the rest. I hope this helps.
Yes I'm on the energy one too tried nearly all of them but came back to this one. Somehow the amaze doesn't feel that smooth with either of the jellybean roms, which would you suggest for 4.1.2?

ROM comparison threads are not allowed. You need to test them out and find one that works for you by yourself. Please read the threads instead of asking because ROMS are subjective.
Please do not take developer work for granted.
As @Odysseus1962 stated there's so l many to choose from and he has already provided you with information so please just read the ROM threads. I'll give you a hint, there's a "broken" / "not working" section on the ROM threads so you can find bugs accordingly. Ones without it are usually more-or-less problem free.

Why does it always take until the 2nd or 3rd response before they finally understand this?
Thread closed. The points given above are rather self explanatory reason.
