Problems after I Flashed I9300XXBLFB - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was running a stock rooted XXLF5 which came on the phone. It was rooted with ODIN and chainfire
Today I used Odin to flash the newest UK stock firmware listed below. After flashing I immediately rooted the phone. Everything seems to be working great except the Samsung keyboard swipe feature. When I swipe around it draws the line like its working but it doesn't write the letters into the chat/email/etc... The normal tapping method works but I liked the Samsung swiping.
Any help would be appreciated. I have tried clear the cache for the Samsung keyboard but that did nothing.

Could it be because i didnt wipe davlik or then other stuff? I wasnt sure if that wasnt necessary since it wasnt a stock firmware being applied over then Stop of another stock firmware

[Q] Question about ROM and Basebands

I have an unbranded and unlocked S3. My original ROM Firmware was
PDA:LE8 PHONE:LE8 CSC:LE4
My baseband isI9300XXLF2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
I loaded a new ROM
I9300XXALF2
Base Firmware: I9300XXALF2 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 5 June 2012
Modem: XXLF2
CSC: OXALF2
Change List: 671647
My firmware has changed but shouldn't the Baseband change as well? I also was surprised that all of my apps and everything were still there. I thought this would be wiped out on a new ROM. Do I need to worry about the Baseband and what is it? I am also curious because I did all this to get the latest OTA. I still am unable to get it. When I sign up for the software updates should I say UK as my country even tho I am in the USA. Will it matter?
LF2 IS the latest OTA.
can you post a link with your stock rom?
Baseband is Modem and like the CSC it is not always upgraded with each firmware revision .
It is also flash able on its own from the stock roms thread as per instructions .
Likewise CSC and also likewise Kernels .

[Q] New Zealand CSC Question

Hey guys,
I have a New Zealand Samsung S3 GT-I9300.
It's got no branding on the phone, no logos, no logos on startup etc and I didn't buy it from a Telecom, 2 Degrees, or Vodafone store so I assume its unlocked. I bought if from an electronic store called **** Smith.
It's on the Telecom network - just chucked in my Telecom SIM.
OS - 4.0.4
AP - 19300XXALF2
CP - 19300XXLF2
CSC - 19300NZCALF1
At the moment when I plug the phone into Kies, it gives me the message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to firmware via Kies".
After doing some research and troubleshooting steps like making sure Kies is up to date, reinstalling drivers etc I saw that some people said that if your CSC is wrong Kies won't upgrade your phone.
I realised that Jellybean hasn't been released for NZ yet but I figure that Kies should be saying something along the line of 'You have the latest firmware..' instead of saying its not supported.
So I was just wondering if my CSC looks fine for an unlocked NZ S3.
Let me know if you need any more information.
Cheers
My S3 is unlocked from Parallel on Vodafone NZ had the same CSC with no problems. I wouldn't worry about it much you can always flash via Odin.
If you are worried about it, flash the stock rom via Odin and use the BTU CSC that's what I've done, I have had no issues with it at all, and it's updated itself all the way up to 4.1.1 OTA with no problem.
Also, have you rooted the phone? If so it can report that you are unable to update via Kies

Thanks for your reply and advice
My phone isn't rooted.
BTU is UK right?
Couldn't I just change the CSC instead of flashing another ROM?
This will void warranty right? Don't really mind but just wondering out of curiosity.
Cheers
Mine isn't rooted either. You don't need to be in order to install the rom through Odin.
BTU is in fact UK
You can try to change the CSC first and see if that works, keep in mind it's going to wipe your phone when you do so.
It should not void the warranty, as you will still be using a default stock official rom, most people load the stock official when sending it in for repair work
By the way, the stock rom I used was the one listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610 from May 13th :
I9300XXALE8 Download (Thanks To SamMobile!)
Base Firmware: I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 13 May 2012
Modem: XXLE8
CSC: OXAALE8
Change List: 554452
I then accepted OTA updates on the phone directly to get it up to the current rom

Thanks for that!
I'll give that a go.
Thanks
Just by coincidence my phone updated to Jellybean 4.1.1 via OTA a few days ago without me having to flash another stock ROM on it.
Also, Kies now reports that I have the latest firmware.
Looks like all I had to do was be a bit more patient.
Everything seems to be in order now.
Cheers for your help anyway guys.

HELP!!!! Firmware troubles

Hi
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as i'm at the end of my tether.
I have the bog standard S3 GT-i9300 Nordic (purchased in Sweden)
Trying to flash back to stock firmware I downloaded the I9300XXBLH3_I9300NEEBLH2_I9300XXLH1_HOME.tar.md5 firmware (4.0.4) Downloaded from Sammobile
Flashed with odin
Restart loop - so I went into recovery mode, cleared cache and reset, restarted fine....
Upon restart phone downloads firmware update.... Updates
The in settings - about device i have Android version 4.1.1 - Baseband version I9300XXDLID Build number JRO03c.I9300XXDLJ2 (French??)
Kernal version 3.0.31 -319653

SMP PREEMT Thu Oct 11 23:43:16 KST 2012
Although this firmware lets me use my Telia Sim card it will not let me use my 02 simcard - Now I know the phone was originaly unbranded & unlocked
I then went into Kies and restored there, entering the phones serial number etc.
The phone was then updated to 4.1.2 (Russia) I9300XXELL4
I have no idea what I have done for the phone not to restore back to stock official Nordic firmware that is unlocked.....
Any help is very much gratefully received.

How can I choose the right firmware? PLEASE GUIDE I HAVE NO IDEA.

You need to do some searching by yourself, that is what the search function is for. EPS Pro for backing up EFS folder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546 Make a backup before flashing Siyah Kernel, and make sure you have root in order for backup to work.
You can just flash Siyah Kernel v4.1.5 via Odin to prevent brickbug in ICS v4.0.4. Look at my rooting guide in my sig, just change the CF-Root file with Siyah Kernel. Refer here: www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v4/Siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar
In case you are unsure what brickbug is, the stock 4.0.4 kernel has MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled which bricks your phone when a wipe data command is used in stock recovery. Siyah kernel deals with this by disabling MMC_CAP_ERASE. This command needs to be enabled for the brick to occur, so don't worry about having to change your ROM.
But if I plan to unroot my phone latter on then I will have to get it back on stock and If I flash the same stock 4.0.4 then I wont be able to wipe data thats why I was asking about LPQ. Will it work for me?

Well if you wished to unroot it and return it to stock 4.0.4 again, you would just be where you are now. Yes, you can flash 4.0.3 if you want, although I struggle to understand why you would return it to stock at a later date anyway.
If your network struggles to pick up a good signal on it, there are many modems out there that you can flash to make your network signal stronger. Refer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950

[Q] S3 i9300 german stock-firm version

Hi all,
I have a question about what version of stock to flash.
- I have rooted and flashed Slimbean on the phone ages ago.
- Back then i runned into a problem where the new modem version was flashed into the phone, and had the IMEI problem etc..
- I could not remember what version modem was installed originally. but i managed to got it working with i9300xxemg4
Now i have some problems with Slimkat or CM11, so i want to flash back to stock, before making the update to kitkat.
- I found the original stock on samsung-updates dot com, but i am not sure if i can safely flas the following version:
Region: MBC (germany)
PDA: I9300XXUGND2 CSC: I9300MBCGND1 MODEM: I9300XXUGNA8 CHANGELIST: 2429075 BUILD DATE: 02.04.2014
My phone being bought in Germany, should logically work with this modem and firware, correct ?
Or should i continue to look for a version that offers the same modem version i have installed currently EMG4 ?
PS: I will be flashing with Mobile ODIN pro, i guess this should be no problem ?
Thanks for any help in advance,
kamaradski
