[Q] Clockworkmod Backup Md5 Problem

Hello android lovers!
I have Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. When i bought it, samsung stock rom 2.3.3 was installed. I rooted my phone. Then i backed my samsung stock rom with Clockword. Backed up succesfully! Md5 sum too!
Then i installed miui 1.11.4 for SGS2. Installed succesfully. Then i decided to backup! I entered recovery mode again and tried to backup!
This time i got this message.
CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7
SD Card space free: 6872mb

Error while generating md5 sum!
Backed up but without Md5 sum file! My previous backup had Md5 file too. After installing miui this problem started.
I tried with rom manager too! It booted in to recovery mod automatically. This time there was no any backup with or without md5. Here is the message i got.

Here is my phone details:
Baseband I9100XXKDJ
MIUI 1.11.11
Kernel 2.6.35.14-g2624ecb-dirty
[email protected]
SMP PREEMPT
Rom Manager v4.8.0.2
ClockworkMod 4.0.1.5
How can i fix this?
Thanks for your any help in advance...
Have you tried deleting the previous backup (of the miui rom) and try again via CWM?
i have just deleted all backups inside of clockworkmod backup directory and tried again.
still same problem.
Try a older version of cwm. pre 3.0
Might need to format the sd card again
Is there an installation guide for my device ? First time i installed it with a modified kernel.
thanks for help!
I have found a solution. Thanks to plisk3n from miuiandroid forums...
I have this issue also. I find that you need to generate the MD5 itself using the built in md5sum program. So ADB Shell into your phone, change to the clockworkmod/backup/xx.xxx.xxx folder and then run "md5sum * > nandroid.md5"

[Q] Does CWM really backup my stuff?

I've got a weird problem. I successfully rooted my new HTC Flyer and installed CWM. When I rooted my new device I only had a very small sd card at hand which I replaced a few days later by a fast 32 GB sd card.
After the replacement I reinstalled CWM 4.0.1.4 but every time I try to do a nandroid backup nothing seems to happen. A progress bar is displayed but there doesn't seem to be any progress.
This is what CWM tells me:
Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
SD Card space free: 25496MB
Backing up boot image...
Backing up recovery image...
Backing up system...
Backing up data...
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete! (obviously not!)
Using file expert I can see .android_secure in /sdcard (probably internal "sd card") but not in sdcard2 (probably my 32 Gb sd card). In /sdcard and /sdcard2 there's adirectory clockworkmod. The first one only contains a directory called download and a file .settings. The latter one contains a directory backup and under it directories for each backup attempt.
The question is: Can I trust these backups in case something is going wrong and I need to do a restore? Given the above error message I doubt that. So my next question is: What can I do to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Yes you can trust the backup.
And what about the above error messages?
they just mean that you have no apps on the sd card. They always throw that error at me. It's fine.
I get the same thing when I do it on my thunderbolt. Go to your SD card under cwm/backup and you will find the backups. They should be named with the date you did it.

[Q] 'Error mounting /sdcard/' Help

Hi guys,
My SD card got corrupted before flashing a rom, so I'm a bit stuck (I can access the CWM menu, the kernel is fine).
So I formatted the card to FAT32 (tried other formats) but when I try and flash an update.zip from it I get
E:Can't mount /sdcard/
So I'm thinking, are there some files missing from the SD card that CWM/android need to interact with it? I can imagine these files were wiped when I did a format. Like superuser files or something? You know also, those hidden files beginning with '.'
I've tried all the usual methods like formatting using SDFormatter and stuff - still, CWM can't see it (my computer can if USB is mounted). Am I right in thinking I need some kind of system files on the SD card?
Any help?
Thanks in advance
the best would be paid copy a rom sd card and flash, or flash a rom stock also either ics or gb and see if there cel recognize SD can not think of anything else. :highfive:
Ok, I guess I'll try that if there's nothing else. If I flash an official .ftf with Flashtool will I need to do anything to my bootloader (currently unlocked)?
Edit: I've been reading around and it seems almost certain that my sd card just needs some vital files on it for CWM and android...
Try by simply reflashing any kernel with cwm if your sd card is readable from pc it is not corrupted, it's more likely somethign wrong with cwm, you should be able to fix reflashing kernel which shouldn't be much of a prob since you have unlocked bl

Hey nice idea, but I tried that earlier and multiple kernels give the same error - it can't be CWM, it must be the SD card (or what's not on the SD card).
Edit: I've tried chkdsk and formatting to a variety of systems using a variety of partition managers, nothings works, my phone just can't mount the SD.

First backup your nandroid backup (if you have one) in a secure place (not the sdcard)
Put your sd card on some other android phone with cwm and format it from the cwm mount/storage option.
if you don't have a nandroid backup skip the next two steps.
mount the sdcard in your computer and create two folders in the sdcard (a folder inside a folder) name the parent folder as "clockworkmod" and child as "backup" .
Put your nandroid backup in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Now put the Rom zip file you want to flash in the root of the sd card
Power down your phone.
Put the memory card in your phone
Boot into cwm and try to flash the rom.
If the second step fails with "error mounting sd card" try with another memory card or with another phone.

[Q] Stuck in aman recovery and SD won't mount

I was recently doing a restore when I realized I restored the wrong backup file with aman recovery. When I booted back into recovery and tried restoring the proper backup file I get an error saying "E: Can't mount SDCARD: /nandroid/".
What should I do to fix this?

hmmm ur sdcard partition may be corrupted then
do u have mount/extsd option in cwm?
if u have this option try mount extsd if this doesn't help too,u must unfortunately flash stock rom
What format is the card in? Some CWM versions might not like certain formatting. Have you checked on the thread for CWM for your device to see if others have issues mounting their SD card? Are you able to mount the SD card via PC with other readers? Might need to either try a different version of the recovery if available or to reformat the card via PC (make sure you backup stuff to the PC first as it will wipe everything).
