Hey,
My i9300 seems to be slightly laggy. Especially things like scrolling through the launcher etc. My friend (SGS2 stock user) noticed it instantly that the phone is sluggish. :/ It looks like its dropping some frames during the scrolling.
I'm currently on OMEGA 8.1 with stock kernel, but I've tried 7.0, 7.1 and Siyah kernels before. I've tried underclocking, overclocking (1500), undervolting. I did a wipe data/factory reset yesterday and again today, but the issue remains. Although, even after the wipe, most of the files (photos, apps) stay on the SD card. How and should I clean it completely? Can it be caused by some cracked apps? I have literally installed like two which I don't use anymore. It is okay after rebooting for some time, I guess. It was lag-free after installing jelly bean animations on 7.1.
I think I'm going to try out CM9 or paranoidandroid.
Stock launcher works fine by me, no lags.. With apex I have lags to. So now I use Nova launcher, I think its perfect.. No more lags over here.. Hope this works for you..

- I tried both enabling and disabling cache from omega kitchen files
- Im currently on default 8.1 OMEGA kernel. I was using 1.3.5, 1.3.6 and 1.3.7 before
I was using the PARANOID rom paired with Siyah 1.3.8 for the last two days and I enjoyed it. No animations issues anymore, tablet-like UI was pretty cool too. On the other hand, battery life wasn't as good, GTA3 was stuttering sometimes too. Really cool rom anyway.
I installed the OMEGA9 + Siyah 1.3.8a today. I did a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset -> wipe cache -> wipe dalvik -> format /system) but the laggy animations issue persists. Everything works fine besides the animations in the launcher (both nova and twiz)
Should I completely format the SD card? All the applications data etc. are still there, maybe that's the issue?
Seems like it was an OMEGA issue. PARANOID was lag-free and so is the FoxHound ROM. Going to stick with this one - great performance, battery life and looks really good.
Try turkbey or checkrom 3.5 runs quite good..
if u wanna go for cm9,then try insanity rom. Only 86mb and insanely fast and stable
Edit:Ooh as u can see in my sig i recommend siyah
Does anyone have an SGS3 that's actually faster than an SGS2? I'm itching to ugprade but everytime I demo someone's SGS3 it sucks big time. Nothing but lag and stuttering EVERYWHERE.

Well, I'm having a frame drop or some kind of lag when im scrolling in application list too fast, sometimes it happens when im scrolling slow. And the same goes for homescreen, sometimes i get like 1 second lag which is very noticeable i don't know if this is normal or Galaxy S2 shouldn't lag like this at all.
I've tried Factory Reset, Change firmware, Data/Cache Wipe.
Im currently running 2.3.4 XXKG2 i got this lag in KF7 and KG1 too
I don't know if everyone is having this problem or only me, even ADW Launcher and Launcher PRO lags a little .. I don't have any heavy application open that can cause this i only have Facebook and eBuddy open.
Do you guys think if i tick Partition and load a .pit file will fix this? Or mabe a Dalvik Cache wipe? :/ Im sad even the iPhone has smoother scrolling u_u
iOS is all about it's interface. You can't compete to it with Android. Never tick partition, why would you think that'd fix it? Are you running a lot of widgets or anything? Because I cannot reproduce this lag you have.
If you do all those clean installs and wipes and flashes, the cause just can't be your phone itself. After the flashing, do you restore your apps using some titanium backup or something? Maybe the settings or apps are a little faulty.
Try using a CPU monitor to see if anything sucks up CPU power, because I can't imagine the phone lagging from nothing.

You're not going crazy buddy. My HTC Sensation 4G exhibits the same problem when scrolling through lists. This is annoying as hell while my friends Nexus S flies all over the damn place!
Note to HTC: You don't know how to code. Stop with it! You can make merry in your wet dreams but give us the option, as users paying $500, to kick sense to the curb like the dirt it is.
PS I am using GO Launcher EX which is awesome.
I was in stock KF3 --> NO LAG Installed KH3----->LAG when scrolling between homescreens Went back to KF3--->NO LAG Installed KH4----> LAG when scrolling between homescreens. BUT this LAG goes away if i choose Live Wallpaper! I had the same issue. Went from original 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 and Lag'd, so went back, now on 2.3.6 and still lagging.
The live wallpaper fix does actually fix the issue as well, which is weird. I only run 2 widgets on my desktop.
If anyone has any ideas it'd be much appreciated.
EDIT: Just had a quick play around with it. It seems if I remove the Program Monitor widget that samsung use initially, it removes any lack. Stupid TouchWiz.

thank!!
i just upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6.
i was wondering why is the home screen scrolling so choppy, its like 3 fps only.
i did a full wipe and clear cache, but its still the same.
after reading your post, i tried to remove the program monitor widget and my scrolling is back to normal.
why program monitor widget cause lag in this 2.3.6 version?
it was smooth in 2.3.3, unbelievable, samsungs own widget causing lag.
on my hero, after loading something like google maps and then pressing the home button... my screen is blank, then the dock, iconless, redraws. eventually icons and widgets appear.
going into the app drawer then, that too builds itself out as apps get discovered during what seems like a full launcher reboot.
how can i prevent this?

Oh omg, didn't notice the thread title
Have you tried reflashing Rom with cache and dalvik wipe? Or check keep launcher in memory in cm settings -> performance?

i have yes. still get the problem.
Yeah i had the same issue with this rom, i also had difficulty signing in to my google account, it kept asking me for the details every time i restarted my phone.
Switched to CM_hero_full-230, which is a nightly build, no problems so far
for the record i have given up on this. i am trying a nightly or just another rom.
I bought a Samsung galaxy tab a few weeks ago, I love everything bout it except the lag, scrolling is choppy, interface is laggy etc... is there anyway of fixing this without rooting?

Probably not. From what I've read and seen personally myself, rooting it and installing a new ROM will get you better results. It'll still be slightly choppy until we get to an Android version that has hardware acceleration (from what I understand).

Rooting the tab and installing a custom rom (like In Paris v5) with a custom kernel (like pershoots kernel) reduces the lag drastically.
However to get fully rid of lag, the UI needs to be hardware accelerated as well which is one of the features of android 4.0 ice cream sandwich which should be out in the coming months.
are you on the latest touchwiz update? Samsung made some good improvements in that one. Though for me rooting and installing custom stuff is a lot of fun
Using a replacement launcher can help a lot. ADW EX launcher works great on the tab and drastically reduces lag scrolling through home screens.
ADW launcher crashes too often for me. When I press the "home" icon to exit an app, I would get a blank screen for a couple of minutes, until it force close the launcher. I don't get this with stock browser.

I use adw since two mouths now and I never had this problem maybe it is related to your custom rom?
? .
Oooooohhhh you never learn, do you?????
Just try them both and then decide........

cm9
I tried both many times but at the end I chose cm9 with pershoots kernal. It had way better sound output for my car system but seems his touchscreen drivers make the screen unresponsive at times need to force reboot . It seemed aokp was more responsive on scrolling but the UI had a few quirks battery and wifi icons were interconnected widgets didn't show correctly, games seemed laggy at times. They are both great roms from great developers. Try cm9 first if u don't like it try aokp. I always use per shoots kernals seems he is very talented. Been using them since the view sonic gtab days..and they never failed me. Make sure to data, cache, dalvik cache, batterystat wipes before flashing any big from jump. Like hc to ics, aokp to cm9!!
ICS CM9 by pershoot: there are fairly regular nightlies, I feel this is the best ROM as of now, Temple run works- which shows that touch sensitivity is pretty good. I found this to be the smoothest of the lot. Very less stagger. I flashed 0515 recently, and am happy with it. You can find the links in the development section.

AOKP: There are more customization options, but the screen keeps getting stuck. Also, there are times when I try to put an app on the home screen, and all that happens is the screen rotates, twice. I really liked the option to put 5 buttons in the combined task bar though. and you can also assign specific actions for long press.

I just did a clean flash of the pre-rooted stock Jellybean ROM found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37735669&postcount=297. Everything works fine so far with the exception of the Nova and Apex Launcher (tested both).
Whenever I tried to pull down the notification bar at the top, there was a 2-3 second delay and there wasn't any animation of the menu being pulled down. When I hold my finger mid-way on the screen, the screen keeps on flashing between the notification bar and the Nova (or Apex) Launcher. It was very glitchy till the extent I went back to the stock launcher.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem too. I tried clean install and it was fine at first then it went all glitchy again. Since it has been a while since you posted, have you came up with a solution or figured out what causing it?
Nova/apex laucher was installed as a system app?

Ya, I managed to find a solution. Go to Settings > Developers options > Check or Uncheck (can't remember which) the "Disable hardware overlays" option. This worked for me.
