Don`t download samsung updates when you`re on a custom rom, only on stock and not rooted.

Its pointless make your mind up to stick with stock OTA or join XDA not both .

[Q] Root and Official Software Update

Hi Guys,
I am about to do the rooting of my I9100 , so I wonder, if I do rooting, will I still have option for Official Software Update, or I will lose it?
Thx
If it is a stock rom yes, official Software will still be there.
if it is a custom rom the answer is no.

Just to clarify for the OP, You can use a custom rom but if you wish to then do an official update you must flash a stock rom again via ODIN/Mobile Odin.

If i root my galaxy s3 can i update fw using kies?

Now i have on my international gs3 with stock jb 4.1.2. I want to root it, install cwm and so on because i want to flash a statusbar mod but then does kies still recognise the phone? and can i install updates without problems?

OTA update usually fails to install .
Kies may update if it sees correct codes but as you are modify phone it may not .
You would be beter reading the faqs and guides first .

no, you'll have to decrease the binary counter with Triangle Away (requires root), then you can flash a stock ROM with Odin.
please, before you do anything stupid, read a TUTORIAL, because everything i'm saing is extremely superficial!
Why would you root then throw away all the benefits of being rooted by installing official updates?

You don't have to use big letters on us! We can read! Now, since you shouted at us, I'll be shouting back. No, you can't! You should stop using Kies anyway! It's cr*p!

Which roms is stable and camera fix P7510?

Forwarded from my other thread post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473982 , I have 2 questions.
1. Which thread guide me to flash to custom rom straight way from HC 3.2 stock samsung 10.1 P7510 to JellyBean custom roms ? including Nandroid backup ?
What I know , flashing from 3.2 to 4.1 method must be in a correct step avoiding brick or I Should use the traditional method , 3.2 to ICS then Jelly bean ? such as kernals base issue ?
2. There are so many custom roms avaliable. I would like to know , which rom works the best with compatibility and smooth UI ? Camera fix and etc ?
Appreciate any help

First...to which ROM is the best...depends on you're style and device. All devices aren't equal...even when they are the same variant. But I like the 4.3 ROMs.Look at my SIG to see which one I'm running today...Lol.
Now..on to you're rooting. You most definitely need to update to 4.0.4 ICS..I have a guide after you're on that version so you can root and stay stock or flash a custom ROM.But you need the ICS boot loader to flash almost all of the new jelly bean ROMs, if not all of them.I believe when you do the official update from kies it will install that boot loader.( never had to as my device was on 4.0.4 unrooted ).
Back up you're tab to you're PC before you go updating..The update might wipe sdcard, not sure. And in case the update goes side ways on ya.
Let me know if you need any help.

Getting to the safe side , the best is using traditional flashing to ICS then to JB.
I am currently rooted for HC.The ordering , I need to flash it to samsung ICS first ? which mean , I need to unroot my device ?
Or I can just flash to custom roms ICS ?
Currently , stuck at this point.Which is the correct procedure ?
Flash stock ICS first using Odin first. Then you can flash to any version you want.

No. Just flash it with Odin. Don't use that ROM. That is a modified version. Download the stock ROMs at www.sammobile.com.

Take a look at the One Stop FAQ and I've got links and stuff for flashing stock ICS

Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/backup-lollipop-5-1-soak-test-t3144162
It's really simple, and as you already have TWRP, you don't need anything extra. But still, make a backup of your current rom.
