This has been happening for a couple of days now, my Amaze keeps unlocking itself. I'm not sure why, it's hard to go to sleep with it coming on, and illuminating my room. Does anyone know why?
Also, I tried searching, and if someone already posted this, then I am really sorry.

First of all, you should have posted this in the correct thread, the Q&A thread. But since this thread is already here, might as well try to help you.
Do you have a case? Because I know that some cases can sometimes unintentionally press the camera shutter button or the power button. Remove any cases and see if the problem occurs without the case.

Yes, I do have a case. But I took the case off, it still unlocks. I'm running stock ICS from Wind Mobile. And also, I'm sorry about putting it in the wrong thread. I'll remember that from now on. Thanks .
Thread moved to Q&A.

Most likely because:
1) You wanted an answer on New Years
2) An answer within 8 hours (goes with #1)
3) The fact you're not rooted makes what you are experiencing something that should not happen and really few options to fix it.
4) The rootzwiki thunderbolt forums are generally more active, but if you need instant answers and "OMG I CANT WAITTTT IT'LLL KILLL MEEEEEE," then I suggest going on IRC
I would root and install something else (another ROM) or return the phone and complain to verizon about it.
yeah, it just seems like your best option is to root or return it, considering it's brand new and you already tried a factory reset. I would probably return it...who knows what's causing that issue on the stock firmware, or what issues it might cause on other ROMs.
are you able to download to the phone from other sources, or is it definitely just the Market?

Fine answers.
1) just got phone
2) was 700 miles from home
3) this was second post
4) this is the q n a section, is it not?
5) ive been with xda for a long time, if you look at my past, you see helpful posts, not smartass answers like yours.
If you didnt have a decent solution, then dont reply.

Not to start a war but your 2nd post seemed smart ass to me. Also sounded like a slight knock to the forum as well.
Sorry no one could be at your hands and feet groveling with answers, but as pointed out to you, its the holidays and people have things going on.
more patience and maybe asking the second time in a nicer tone might have helped...

So i didnt ask nice the first time? Also, this was not my first post, the other got no answer also, so when i post 2 questions, nicely, and get nothing, well it makes you wonder. Ive been around these forums longer than some of the mods, ive never seen that in all my time here. If my post offended anyone, i do apologize, but as far as people doing things, well it wasnt like i was just sitting at my phone, i was taking the wife and kids across 3 states to visit family and traveling in a car 1500 miles. Actually, he did not search at all from my understanding. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just saying. From his OP, he states that he accidently found out how to take screen shots with the stock, none rooted rom when trying to turn off his device. Right away he posted the method up and I can bet without any search if that was a known feature for the amaze.
I'm pretty sure if you search Google, it will let you know thats a known stock feature for the amaze. But I guess you can give him credit for trying to help.
And actually, here it is. First result when I searched google

But now I'm just just busting the ops balls.

Yuck! I've always considered myself to be a Google whiz, but apparently not. So what you're saying is if the OP would have typed this into Google, the thread wouldn't be needed? You seem to be typing out of both sides of your fingers. Not to mention, if the OP is new, I wonder what seperates him from other new noobs I see ripped for the same thing.
If my first post was "how to root amaze 4g" I'm sure it would be frowned upon for posting common knowledge that we could have searched and found the same info on.

No I'm not hating at all, I was actually commending the OP, just like I mentioned previously. I was merely pointing out the fact that with a little google search things can be found very easily...this is in no way against what the op did, trying to share what he thought was usefull information for many, and probably is for many who are new to android!!

I am on Energy 4/27 ROM. I noticed (on many occasions) that my screen will come on by itself and stay on (which is a huge battery drain of course). Has anybody experienced the same thing? If so any word of advice on cause and resolution.
I noticed this even when the phone is just sitting on the desk without being touched (so it is NOT like it was in my pocket where I can accidentally hit the power button to wake it
One thing in my setup that may have anything to do with it (though I doubt it) is the fact that I do not use lock screen at all. I installed "No Lock" app to disable lock screen all together.
I am suspecting I have some app that is misbehaving but how would I go about tracking it down?
Thanks for any insight or ideas on this issue in advance.
P.S.
I tried to search for this but did not find any similar problem postings (though it is a difficult one to search for due to too general words in description).
I noticed the same problem, haven't had it since I have started using different roms.

I just received 2 batteries for the I-777 that I bought on eBay. However, they do not have NFC. For the hell of it, I double checked and tried turning on NFC in the settings and it said "error occurred". So I'm like yeah okay, figures. So I pop in the original battery (NFC capable) I was using and tried turning it on, and it was still not working. I'm on ICScrewed 2.1 with Siyah's last up-to-date GB kernel. Re-flashing didn't work. Help?
Stuff I've tried:
Wiping/Re-flashing
Back to stock, re-rooting, reflashing (was sure this would have fixed it...)

Labeling people as "trolls" won't get you help around here. Especially when they are the guys with most of the answers!
Keep searching, Google, xda forums, everywhere. Sometimes the answers are in obscure places. It's a pain in the ass, especially xda's search function, but it's worth the time. You may or may not find your solution but learn something helpful in the process. Right now I've screwed up supercharging my phone... Now im frantically looking for ways to fix without flashing. Keep kissing ass to your friends. Phalanx doesn't help. Look at his answer. Absolutely nothing to do with the OP. Instead, he's insulting me by saying I haven't searched, when I have. Not to mention, he does that in every thread I made. I'm pretty sure such behavior is trolling.
Anyway, like I said. I did search. All people have said is: pull battery out and put it back in, reflash (wiping of course too), and going back to complete stock and re-rooting and flashing. None of those have worked. See, you people assume I haven't searched, but I have...
Apparently, there was a flashable zip to fix this, but it was for a different phone when I was looking on Google.
All I can say is include everything you've tried in the OP. If you come across anything, make an update in the thread or an edit to the post, whichever is easier for you.
It took 2 people asking a question to get that you had tried two other possible fixes and they failed. Do you go to the doctor and tell him your head hurts but leave out the part where you damn near knocked yourself out working under the sink? No, you tell him everything you can think if that may have caused the issue in the first place.
No trolling, no judgment and for damn sure no kissing ass (see the thread where I pissed of Shoman). Just a normal guy trying to help ya out a bit.

I don't know why some people insist on calling n00bs out for everything. They too were once a noob. Your question is fair- there are two things you can do:
1. Turn on GPS and try to navigate somewhere, then go into Settings/More Settings under Wireless and Network/Mobile Networks/ and change the Network mode to CDMA/LTE to Global or vice versa. See if that works.
OR
2. Reflash back to Stock or whatever ROM you have had a GPS lock on and establish a lock. Then nandroid flash back to whatever ROM you want (i.e. JediROM). Try to navigate- most likely it will work.
I would advise though, hitting the Crtl F key... :highfive:

Really the way some noobs are treated they are turned away from the community. I have been guilty of *****ing out noobs before as have most of us. It gets very old to answer these questions every day when people could have used the search function to find the answer.
On the same hand the reason some of the noobs dont even come to XDA and screw up their phones by using roms and rooting methods is because of the attitude here at XDA and the way noobs get treated. Im not saying every noob gets treated badly but when the first post tells them to search without trying to answer the question that gives a initial impression of an assholish community.

And add the fact that there are millions of posts to sort through, you sort for one question and it pops back 30 threads. Lol

Very true, but you can choose to sort thru one sub forum at a time and that geta rid of the majority of the posts that dont apply to you. Of course most noobs are confused by the way XDA is set up, I was confused by it a bit when I joined but it was a bit more disorganized then than it is now.
The reason most of us get a little annoyed with noobs and repetitive posts is when there are 3 posts that are the same thing one right after another and there is an answer in one but they didnt bother to even look at the Q&A section before posting.
The worst part though is when there are posts in thr Development sections, when I joined there was no Q&A sub forums and I still had enough sense to not post in Development.
Those of us who do try to donate our time and answer questions for new members need to leave our attitudes at the door when we start helping them unless it is warranted, and there most definitely are times that attitude is warranted. They are there asking for help because they honestly dont know what to do or don't understand a process and they asked for help not attitudes for posting a question in the Help and Q&A Thread. Its really giving the sitenas a whole a bad name because of the attitudes that some members have towards noobs even when they follow all the rules and have legitimate questions. I hate saying that about XDA because I love the site so much but it's the honest truth.
