HTC One X worth buying? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in need of a new phone and my eye caught the One X  Is it really worth buying?
I will be basically needing a phone for shooting photos (also in dark), shootings videos, video calls, texting, a little of gaming and surfing the web.
How long does the battery of the One X last? I know this battery is not replaceable, is it a problem?
In my opinion I don't like the SIII much So overall is the One X worth buying? how long will the battery last if I did the basic thing I do with a phone?
And what is the current price of the One X now? will the price drop in the future?
Thank you :good:

Goto phone shop. Hold one x in your hand. It hits all the rights notes.
Seriously though its a awesome phone with great battery life, and even better when u root it and add a custom Rom.

No the price will not drop even when HTC brings a new flagship phone out. HTC One X will the same price for years to come.

hox and great battery life? only if you use another phone instead and let it idle...
i think good feedback comes mostly from guys trying to actually sell it

It works fine if used not very often.

things i don't like:
kind of on heavier end
can run pretty hot
but both are probably as a result of great specs, so yeah. overall great phone!
Awesome... I recently won a Samsung Captivate Glide, Galaxy Tab 7, a Jukebox Jambox(which is awesome) , and $25 gift card from androidandme.com . Winning them automatically make then much better than buying them yourself.
It's an awesome phone, the camera is amazing, and its nice and sturdy.

Getting hot is the 4g known issue with the amaze. Awesome phone though if your gonna root and custom rom let me recommend speedrom6.0. Awesome fast smooth all around great rom. Best rom available by far in my opinion.

If you wanna learn all about the amaze click the bible link in my signature.. I think the best feature on the phone is the camera, not a single device out there takes pictures as good unless it is JUST a camera.. but newer phones like the htc one can't compete. I was geeking out at my local tmobile, comparing pictures with my amaze to their htc one.. they all agreed, my amaze won(when projected on a 60" hdtv).
Overall, the phone is still top in its class, there isn't anything BETTER, just slightly different form factors and shapes. The second reply to this thread said he thought the phone was too heavy.. I like the weight, I feel like I am holding something real, rather than some plastic toy when I hold any galaxy S(1,2, or 3). So quite a bit is just going to be personal preference.
Best camera I've ever seen on a phone (haven't seen the HTC titan... but that's a windows phone )
Enjoy the new phone

Meh, battery isn't a big issue as is, hopefully with a custom kernel battery life will improve. I was getting deadly battery life with GB and faux kernel, way better then now
Buy extra battery. Problem solved.
Great phone, my wife is finally thinking about upgrading her g2x.
She really liked my amaze when I had it, mostly for the camera and great reception and data speeds.
"Just don't do anything like 'rotting the phone' (she's polish lol) or or putting any rams on it" she's so cute with her accent.....
"Sure honey no problem!"
Muwahaha ...
Phone is great if u aren't big on development, also the camera is Jesus!!! Battery life is about on par to my G1 back in 2008 lol worst I've ever dealt with.

Engadget Review of One X+

Hi all. Engadget has just released their review of One X+. Just wanted to share.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/htc-one-x-plus-review/
They basically say;
- Sense has improved and runs a bit smoother.
- Front camera has drastically improved.
- Battery life is same as One X.
- There is only one color option which is black matte.
- Photo and video quality is same as One X and they think it lags behind the competition.
- The processor is faster and it shows itself in real world usage.
- Camera lens is still prone to scratch.
- Taking photos is even faster.
- Volume is significantly higher with Beats Audio enabled.
and so on...
So basically not really worth upgrading once the one x receives jelly bean?

It's a personal preference. It brings faster performance, 64 GB storage, probably less problematic hardware than One X (remember wifi, screen problems of One X) and more.. They just say if it was using S4 Pro it would have had better battery life but still it's a lovely phone.

I would buy One X or One X+ only if I like Sense. Well, I do but I couldn't buy One X since it had hardware issues when I was looking for. Maybe HTC solved these issues, we will see but right now if I had a solid One X without problems, I wouldn't buy One X+. If I had GS3, I would still buy it because missed Sense as I'm using GN right now.

Deciding what phone to get

I'm thinking about changing phones I'm on T-Mobile with my amaze no longer under contract. I was looking at what they have to offer and had 4 thoughts. I'm looking for input.
1. Get the iPhone 5 and sell it to make a profit and keep using my amaze
2. Get the HTC one the processor isn't much faster than the amaze and the camera isn't as good and it also lacks SD card slot
3 get the nexus 4 16gb looks pretty nice quad core processor and is aosp but still lacks an SD card slot
4 keep my amaze and wait till it craps out.
What do you guys think? And I checked out the HTC one forums and saw sports on there so I personally ask you sports how's the HTC one

Just went through this. New HTC one is very fast, don't let mhz ratings fool you. Go use the phones until the sales guy kicks you out.
I tried new htc one. Old htc one, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g cousin, s3 and note 2. All much faster than amaze. All great phones.
In the end because I didn't want to lock into contract, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g were hundreds less than the rest. Went with Optimus for LTE. Arrives this week.
Hoping when s4 is finally on display in my area I don't regret it. Based on reviews like trusted tech heads at arstecnica the new LG Optimus g pro phablet is the benchmark king. Out shortly if you like the size.
Keeping my amaze as my ORD phone.

No regrets on not waiting for s4. Tried one out for an hour yesterday. Great phone. Just not hundreds of dollars greater than others I looked at. Happy I went with unlocked lg.

I've been using a HTC One for the past couple days and it's really fast. The front speakers sound clear and pictures are all right. The phone has no grip though so you might want to pick up a case on Amazon. The profiting from an iPhone sounds like too much work for not enough money. The Amaze is still quick for most things so unless you hate it I think you should keep it.
Go with the HTC one. It's great and development is amazing! Battery is also awesome. I get 4hrs screen on time! Sense 5 is also very fast and minimalistic making it an aosp like Rom that just tons of extra features!
I upgraded from my amaze.
You can also use the HTC logo as a Menu button so you won't lose screen realestate from an on screen menu button.

No it is actually rock stable for stock, and still stable for AOSP. You will be stuck on GB and ICS until we get a developer to build us a kernel for JB Sense. Unless you want Cyanogenmod or AOKP.
Everything performs fast, it's not a HTC One but 1.5ghz is more than fast enough.
Try and get the phone for <180$ if you buy it.
Battery life is ok not bad but not excellent. My custom roms and other people's roms can help with that.
As for dev support we don't have as much as other phones but we are still going somewhere. Sorta.
Hope I helped.

To be honest I wouldn't buy this phone any more, it's too old, and if you look through the forums many people have had bad luck with this phone (bad battery, random reboots, backlight bleed, squeaky back) not saying you will have all these issues, but odds are at least one of these issues will plague you. I was lucky and only had the back light bleed, but my cousin also got this phone on my suggestion and he was plagued with reboots no matter what Rom I tried putting on it, and after a while his started to charge extremely slowly (to the point that it was unusable while charging, as the phone lost charge faster). He ended up selling it and got a sensation. I would recommend you get an HTC one x, which you can get for around 200-210 dollars off swappa and even eBay (I just ordered 3 of them all mint condition with boxes and they costed me 200 on average, one was 175 (but without box), one was 210 and one was 217 but they had the original box. Good luck
I got my girlfriend an HTC one x about 7 months ago (found a great deal on craigslist for 130 dollars, the phone was complete mint with the original box also in mint condition, guess the guy didn't know what his phone was worth) and it truly is a very nice phone. Only gripe would be the storage but if you don't play a lot of games I find 16gb is enough storage for most needs (people argue about their 100gb music library but with Google play music their arguments fail, and who needs to really carry a year's worth of music with them every day...)
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I loved my Amaze but I have moved on from it.
The negatives: Button Back light bleed, randon reboots (caused by a bad battery), battery life is not too great, not much accessory support, no JB Kernel, odd ball 11pin micro usb port (still able to use a regular micro usb tho)
Everything else is nice... screen quality, camera, speed, sound... dev support is little but its still kicking.
As for cons only the battery life sucks other than that the phone is great for me well hardware specs wise the phone is really good for the ongoing price comparing to some high priced low spec devices out there, but software wise it's not that good cuz we got stuck in ics, I mean officially.. But we have custom roms so yay

I find it to be a rather pleasing phone honestly. I came from an HTC One V with Virgin Mobile and wanted to try T-Mobile because it was $5 and actually had support for 4G where I live. I looked on Craigslist for a decent T-Mobile phone. I looked at Sensations and almost bought one, but then I stumbled on the Amaze. The way I looked at it, it looked like a Sensation 2.0; faster processor, more RAM, support for 42.2 HSPA+, and more storage. I was originally gonna buy it from a guy for $140, but he dropped it to $120 because his kid threw the case away. I've been using it since about March or April and haven't had a single issue with it, except for the button bleed, but it doesn't really bother me. I can't really say anything on battery since he gave it to me with a 1900 mAH Anker batter, but its been decent. So I guess there's my story of how my Amaze came to be. It's a great phone that I've never even heard of prior to buying it, and my hobby is watching reviews of phones just because. I think these days, you can probably get it for less than $150 easy. I'd say if you care about massive dev support then go with the Sensation, at the expense of a less powerful phone, if not, then go with the Amaze. We may not have the most devs, but the ones we do have are amazing (no pun intended) and extremely dedicated. I hope this helps with your decision.

NOTE 2 user thinking about htc one

as the title says, currently i have the samsung note 2 but thinking about getting the htc one but, i'd like to get some your feelings on the phone. what are the things YOU DONT LIKE about the phone. can you stream movies from your phone to your samsung or LG tv? thank you for your feedback.
u need a htc toggle or something similiar to stream, cant stream direct from phone. not fair to compare note 2 to htc 1 so will just list the pros
pros of htc
nice body
fast ultrapixel camera and zoe. nice gallary interface
cons of htc
medicore battery
shortchange you with 720p screen instead of 1080p
sense 5 interface is slow and sluggish after a few mths of usage, badly written.
please try the phone first if you can. open up simple things you usually do on your phone and see if you can get use to it.
if you wanna try a htc phone,i rather you consider the butterfly S. otherwise wait for sony honami or lg g2. samsung is getting so boring for me and their strategy to launch s4 in so many version pisses consumers off.

IMHO, the only thing "better" about the Note 2, is the screen size. Yesterday with moderate to heavy use, I was out of the house for almost 18hrs....got home with 20% battery remaining.
Being a previous Note 2 user, I can tell you that the battery life is miles ahead of the One. That and the screen size are the only two things that I would say the Note has over the One.

Well bro your experience was an uneducated one, because there were several things wrong with your post like the previous user stated.
1080p screen (not 720p like you said), easily stream your media to your TV directly from your phone (it's in settings > more), Sense 5 is easily the smoothest experience I've ever had (and I owned the Nexus 4 prior to this phone) so what experience are you talking about? lol
Sick with note two for now and wait for the HTC one maxx

I came from tmobile galaxy s3, iPhone 5, note 2, and Sony Xperia z.
Finally I bought the HTC one.
I felt like I made a good decision.
Sure, note 2 had amazing battery life, but I thought that the phone was too big and heavy for me.
If you're strickly for battery life, note 2 is the best. Hands down.
Now for HTC one, this might have worse battery life compare to note 2. But you can buy battery pack to charge it when you need it.
Also, there are excellent Roms out, like android revolution HD. Gives better battery life and tweaks added.
If you have extra cash to spend, HTC one is a great choice. But note 2 is still good and not lacking tech. That's until note 3 comes out.

All speculation at this point. Sure, it might be close as far as hardware goes but software is a total guessing game.
