[Q] Google Wallet? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Just curious if there was a workaround to get Google wallet to work on the Note. I'm currently running Flapjaxxx Aospxx. Not sure if this has been asked already but I searched and didn't see anything in the Note forums about it.

Kind of suck at searching... There are numerous threads on this. It's pretty much up to ATT to get Google wallet working, and with their payment system thats never going to happen, we don't be stopping at 7-11 with our phones anytime soon. And it probably won't happen with this phone at all.

Google Wallet

is there any way we can get google wallet on our amaze? from what ive read around simply installing the apk does not work :\
I'm no dev, but I would guess it needs libs. FWIW
Now that we have root I wonder if any of the devs well cook it in their roms. Google wallet was only suppose to go to sprints nexus s but they managed to make it work for the tmo version.
Well if someone would stop messing around with Sense and build an ASOP we'd have it but the "devs" are working on Sense Roms for some reason...

...since you like using quotes in an obnoxious way, why can't that "someone" be "you" who "devs" us an "AOSP" rom? there's no "reason" you can't "do" it.
Except I have a job I do for a living nor the skills to do it. Thats why. I don't pretend to do something I can't do.

Not quite sure what half what you said is but yes. I'm on his now and actually like it because he kept the Sense camera and all. Except should bring the library over for Google Wallet to work since it wouldn't need the framework unless thats how it communicates with the NFC...
Just noticed this guys I will take a look

Before i even saw this I sent you a logcat of the error I get when I try and install it... Thinking it has to do with no ASOP build yet...
Hey xboarder, I know you are all busy with the Beast and 1000 other things you are working on, but any luck with Wallet on BeastMOD?

Bump. Wondering if anyone has had any success or heard any updates about google wallet.
Aye, any luck on this? A working Google Wallet would be AMAZING on these phones.
When it comes down to it...what are we missing/what do we need to get this working on the Amaze? Is there anything us n00bs can help out with?
Hey is there any chance the apk from here http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...nfcrel-2.apk&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13242366848021 can be used to help make GW work on our phone? The apk installs and the app runs but crashes when NFC is turned on.
im working on adding it to my ics build

I'm looking forward to that. I've yet to see an actual use for NFC apart from Google Wallet

ICS uses it to share data between 2 devices. But ya, mostly wallet lol.
Can't wait to try it out .

[Q] Is carrier IQ installed on our phones?

See here for info: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/the-rootkit-of-all-evil-ciq/
It sounds like there is a high chance this is installed in the fascinate. Does anyone know any more info regarding our phones? Do any of our roms besides the AOSP/MTD ROMS have it removed?
I think ported roms from the mesmerize have it removed. Though I could be wrong

This is actually a very good question I would love for somebody with the know how aka jt or the glitch guys to let us know. I'm willing to bet aosp roms have it removed while touchwiz roms have it

hard to say of even aosp has it removed. The article states that it resides in the ram itself and is almost undetectable. Someone should bring this to jt's attention. I would but am driving and mostly using speech to text. :0.. If no one has later i will

I am using the Touchwiz Superclean ROM and I don't think it's there. I looked through "All applications" in the settings menu and there was no mention of iq anywhere. TrevE also wrote an app to detect it and it didn't appear to find CIQ on my ROM. Let me know what you all find.

I just ran this on CM7.1 with Glitch v13 and no CIQ files were detected fwiw
"I didn't say that...my Fascinate has a tiny troll inside it."
The app that TrevE wrote was meant for the Evo 3D and other HTC phones, so I wouldn't trust the results.
The bottom line here, fellas, is that without doing a butt-ton of work to find the traces of these files, we have no idea if this program is there or not. This article seems to make me think that Carrier IQ was included, even in previous AOSP Roms.
I personally am not going to worry about it too much. I know people want their privacy and all, but there is so much of this going on that privacy is just an idea now-a-days.
Just my 2 cents.
The following was just tweeted by droid_life:
"Oh lord. So today's rumor is that the Galaxy Nexus is delayed on Verizon because of Carrier IQ? #massivefacepalm"
"And when I say facepalm, that's because Verizon doesn't use Carrier IQ and no way in hell would a Nexus have it. Come on folks"
Also, this was posted...
So, in short, no. Carrier IQ is not on our phones.
Just an additional +1, I ran TrevE's Logging Test App (link) on my stock ED05 Fascinate today and the CIQ Check turned up nothing.

Has anyone seen John Connor?

[Q] Google Wallet on UCLD3

I've seen a few posts from people that claim to have gotten Google Wallet running on UCLD3, but there seems to be a mixed bag of reactions.
Can I get a conformation from someone that has actually gotten it working?
By working, I don't just mean installed, I mean they've actually made a successful transaction with it.
Thanks in advance.
Not working for me. I'm running UCLD3 and I'm not rooted.

NFC HowTo

Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to use NFC on my note? I thought I was trying something simple by attempting to share a photo from my note to another but I am apparently just not Getting It Right(tm).
I'm running a rooted stock OS with cruft disabled/removed. NFC transfers are enabled on both devices and they both indicate 'ready to transmit app content'. Now what?

always tried to figure out how to use the NFC lol
Never used it ....
I guess I'd better read up ....g

At this point it would take to long to transfer 8 mp photos via nfc. The transfer rate is just not even close

Interesting, I never looked into the detailed specs of what NFC was capable of. Wi-Fi direct transfers work well enough, but are disruptive to general Wi-Fi use. I guess I'll stick with that.
Ugh. I used NFC daily while on stock ICS. Installed cm10 and now NFC will not turn on. Tried flashing the "fox" file from that article from April 2012. I was hoping this thread would give me a new light. I suppose it is back to stock ICS.

I tried it today, I have JB, other phone had ICS, the only time it work is when the other phone got a text message while we were trying it. He uses gosms, my phone came up with a play store link for gosms. It doesn't seem to work across different platforms. Probably would work between two phones using the same platform. It also says it relies on bluetooth.

NFC will not fully check on in the wireless settings. The Samsung tectile app says NFC not turned on and will not let me read any tiles. I am going to try a clean install of cm10 and not do a Google restore of app and settings. Maybe this will work for me

Google Wallet?

Has anyone had luck with Google Wallet? I tried downloading direct from Google Play and sideloading but it still says it can't be used. I'm sure this one will just require a little patience but wanted to check =)

Yes but it works on the Nexus so there should be a fix soon.
A few other things to note:
1. No blocking mode (that I could find)
2. Fewer apps on the multi-task bar

I've been with vzw for years but WTF is it with them lately?
First they remove the headphones seen with other versions of the same device.
No blocking mode? Why I really wanted that. I thought this was a jelly bean feature and not a phone feature?
Stupid Wifi constant notifier? WTF for?
Fewer apps on tasker...serious? again why?
I realize alot of this will probably be rectified with Root but it shouldn't be necessary.

Not really. They made it unavailable from the Play Store. You can side load it and it will still work... trick is finding the right APK.

I was able to get it on the s3 from the play store by simply editing the build.prop on the phone. That should still work once root is achieved.

I would absolutely love to have Google Wallet working on the Verizon N2; but honestly, I don't want to dive into messing with things in some of the other Google Wallet threads. Waiting for a nice, easy, and somewhat stable flashable zip .

There won't be a flashable zip because you have to change versions to get it working. The best you will get is an executable script that pushes the files and then you have to do stuff yourself and then it will push more files. Viperboy (I believe is his name) has one on Sprint N2 forum.
