How to unlock boot loader on LG GT 540.. please help. can also reply to my email [email protected]
First of all ask that in the GT540 forums. Second of all, that device has its bootloader factory unlocked.
Atleast mine has.

My friend had an optimus GT540 which he claimed the boot loader to be locked. Perhaps it was a regional setting? This phone was bought from Sri Lanka.

I am kinda confused about the bootloader. So do you need to have an unlocked phone to unlock the bootloader? Because I'm a little afraid to do it because of the loss of radio signal! Please help
and i checked on that tool thats supposed to check if you can unlock the bootloader and and it said ready. My phone is not unlocked from the carrier.

If your phone isn't unlocked then you can use the SEMC_qd8250.zip to method to unlock your boot loader, but you can always use the SIM certificate check tool in the dev thread to check if what SIM certificate your phone has, post the tool in a second.
I don`t now how must do that, anybody knows step by step?
My X10i is locked by Vodafone.

Yes i know you told me earlier in a pm,
but does anyone now how you unlock network with setool?
x10 stand not in the list, only very old phones.
actually no. you dont have to unlock your phone carrier. i unlocked my bootloader without unlocking the phone carrier. there is a tool to check if you are eligible for unlocking your bootloader
You do NOT need to use setool to unlock your carrier before unlocking bootloader!
I was sim locked to vodafone (And never used setool) and I have unlocked my bootloader by following the steps posted in this thread with the kernel upgrade/downgrade method.
If you have never unlocked the sim then you can use the tool posted the_laser to unlock the bootloader.
Ok thanks mates

Hey everyone
I need a quick phone to last me a few months till my upgrade and the Neo V seems like a good deal, brand new for £70.
Now I never buy an android phone unless the bootloader can be unlocked. I understand that phones made after 12w14 cannot be unlocked or something? If the phone is made after 12w14 is there really no way to unlock it? It will be sim locked and I know it's necessary to unlock it to allow fastboot.
Basically can phones made after 12w14 be sim and bootloader unlocked?
Thanks

If you buy your phone brand new from an 'open' store than your phone should be sim unlocked.

If you want to know whether you can unlock your phone or not, here is an excerpt from Sony's forum.
1.First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
2.In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
The whole page is here: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Thanks but the phone will almost certainly be locked to T-Mobile.
What I need to know is, if the manufacturing date is past 12w14 is there a way for me to sim unlock and then unlock the boot loader ?

If I'm not mistaken, there is but you've to pay for it as your status says :No

the bootloader is easily unlockable in the indian variant!
Try having a P768, nothing seems to be straight forward even though it's supposed to be the same as 760/765 apart from the camera.
Anyway, good luck with your next device.

Just upgrade to JB or flash a JB KDZ. Voila! Your bootloader is now unlockable by typing one line in adb mode: adb reboot oem-unlock.

It doesn't? Then I'm sorry but I know that there's a way to open the boot loader by flashing an P760 kdz then open bootloader then flash back but I think that made the screen mirror all the time.
