I have bricked my Friend's phone while trying to install Clockwork Recovery through heimdall 1.3.2 in windows 7. My phone was not detected in download mode as reported by heimdall. Stupid me pulled the battery from phone while in download mode. Now i see only two things & nothing else
1. When I Power on phone, I see ---> Phone ! PC icon
2. Vol Up + Vol Down + USB ---> Download Mode
Here's the output :
Code:
C:\Heimdall Suite>heimdall flash --kernel zImage

Can you still get into download mode? If so go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 and Odin back to stock JFD(2.1 ), then follow the instructions to install clockwork recovery with the update.zip method in section B. After that's done, you can upgrade through cwr.

Now I Got Sleep Bug
I got the phone working. Strange solution !
1. Tried with Heimdall in Windows ----> Not Detected
2. Tried with Heimdall in Linux ----> Not Detected
3. Tried with Heimdall in Linux using virtual box in Windows ----> Not Detected
4. Tried with Heimdall in Linux with following command
Code:
heimdall flash
voila it worked, isn't it strange. This command put the phone back to normal mode. Then I installed clockwork and CM 7.2 RC2.
I have one probably last Problem
"The infamous sleep Bug"
Tried CM 7.2 RC1, RC2. The problem is still there. Any possible workarounds ??

Please help- I soft bricked, and have read up on the process to fix, that I need to fix via ODIN. I installed ODIN, Kies, Samsung USB drivers (from an XDA thread link that says they are 'KNOWN' to work), have uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. and the problem I'm having is that my computer will not recognize the phone when it's in download mode no matter what I do.
SO frustrating- any advice?? Much appreciated
Try unplugging the usb and plugging back in

That worked for me. Along with starting with a fresh boot of ODIN after every flash.
I had the Odin TMO 2.2 on and then I tried to flash back to 2.1 but totally forgot about probably needing a different kernel. Now my phone can restart but gets stuck at the locked screen on boot-up but I can't slide the screen to get onto the device. It just sits there and vibrates randomly (like it does when an app force closes). I am able to get into Download mode while plugged into the computer and Odin open but Odin does not pick up my device (I have tried to open/close Odin many times too). My PC(win7 x64) does not recognize the device while in DL mode either saying "Gadget Serial" and can't find drivers. I have re-downloaded all the drivers and tried to point the device to them but still no go.
I need some help to get my phone back before the wife kills me for messing with "something that is not broken in the first place"!!!!
Sometimes it just doesn't work on win7, personally I have had success with the pc recognizing dl mode on some win7 systems and failure on others. If you can get to dl mode you haven't lost it, its only a soft brick. What you need is a different pc, preferrably windows xp, load up drivers, odin, hit dl mode and you should be good to go.

Yes!!! I got odin to recognize the phone. I tried to use a pc with xp but still wasnt able to at first. I then installed the latest version of kies and that had the driver to recognize the "gadget serial" device. Then odin and back a live!!

Have you tried flashing with Heimdall instead of Odin?
Try this....

If you can get into recovery try clicking delete user data, that might work. Also, you could install samsung kies which will install proper drivers so that your phone will be recognized by odin.

Do you have the latest drivers from SDK installed or available on your system? When you get dl mode and plug into your computer, does your machine recognize the device and load the drivers?
I would try either the latest sdk drivers (nexus s drivers basically), or the sgs4g drivers when in dl mode, since thats what you were flashing/porting.
Heimdall which uses its own drivers may be a good option too, as mentioned by crazy above.
Hope this helps
Hey people I am in a kind of panic situation my phone is showing
A phone and a computer sign is coming when I switch on my phone
I have tryed flashing in some other firmware thro ODIN but it says failed ...

Open kies if you have it installed, then plug your phone and turn it on, it will try to fix it.
Second option, kill kies completely, get a stock GB ROM download using checkfus or Sammobile and flash using Odin.
Download the stock ROM again, what you have now might be corrupt.

Did you install the Samsung USB Driver? I hope you are using Windows...
are you stuck in setup connection............
if yes uninstall Kies
try the following if you are stuck on kies
1. run odin as administrator.
2.try using different usb ports.
3. uninstall kies and use the samsung drivers alone.
Well was trying mobile odin on my p7500
were trying P7500XWLPD_P7500DBTLP3_P7500XXLQ8_HOME.tar
pressed start and its just keeps rebooting mobile odin shows 0.3 sec a cache.ing done thing and the download mode now not recognizes USB (Tried 3-4USB) so it is not in the USB , or USB driver
Yeah I tried go to recovery mode but it shows the mobile odin 0.3 thing and reboots again
What should I do?
Any help ? Anyway to do this without otg or gtag . Noone experienced this kind of problem ?
It is not the mobile odin that made usb useless thats the cm 10.1 .

My head hurts from trying to understand the above.
Let me see if I can make some sense of it:
You installed Mobile ODIN on your P7500, downloaded the ICS ROM, and tried to install it.
Apparently Mobile ODIN failed and immediately rebooted.
Now the tablet displays something about cache.img during restarts. That means that it's not totally dead, though.
You need to boot it into download mode and use PC ODIN to flash your ROM.
However, while you can get into download mode, your computer doesn't recognize the tablet.
You've tried several USB ports with no change.
You can't boot into recovery since that just gets you Mobile ODIN.
If you boot it into download mode and your PC doesn't recognize the tablet - especially if it doesn't see anything in device manager when you connect it, your cable is bad. Replace it. Then use PC ODIN to flash your ROM.
