[Q]How To Launch An App From The Drop-Down Notifications Screen? - Android

I'm trying to find a way to launch an app from my pull-down notifications screen. I'm on ICS and I can already start the settings app from there so I should, in theory, be able to start anything else.
The trouble is, I'm a bit lost as to how to do it. I've found lots of tutorials about launching an app from one you've made yourself but I'm trying to launch one from SystemUI.apk so I don't have any java code available to play around with. And I don't really understand smali yet.
This is the code for my status_bar_expanded.xml if it helps:

Why don't you just do it the easy way and install 1Tap quick bar?

Have you tried androidnClick setting in xml?
And have you tried using the pendingIntent when using NotificationBuilder?

Thanks, but that's not quite what I'm after. There are lots of apps that can let me start launch apps from the notifications list..but I want to be able to launch an app from the top part of the notifications screen, next to the clear button perhaps.

See, this doesn't mean a lot to me. My New Years resolution is to get to grips with Eclipse so I'm sure it'll mean something soon. But at the moment I just know the xml side of Android.

Android actions are defined in Java, Compiled Java=Smali.
Android layouts are defined in XML.
In short, it can't be done in XML. You'll have to wait till new year I guess

Are you sure it also cannot be done with the onClick set?
I think, that if you set androidnClick="actionF",
And you inflate the layout in MainActivity.java
And then put the inflated layout into an expanded notification, it should work.
I'm not sure though

Inside of status_bar_expanded.xml add another line by the settings_button line.
This like, copy it and replace items with your own code. play with the layout, padding, ect ect. That is on you.

Inside of PhoneStatusBar.java there is a call to create the button from the layout view. Basically copy that and point it to your new id while changing the name of the delegates as well.
Replace this code with your code and put in under the settings button code in the java file.
