Why everyone said JB faster than Ice? - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried JB CM10 test version by Mujeni but every thing slower than CM9 ice, so i don't understand why people said that JB faster?

Keep in mind that you have an older device, and that you tried it with a ROM that is not ready for daily use

try JB from winsuk
BLAZING FAST

I agree, while there are issues with storage space, it is very smooth compared to cm7 and cm9.

Delete as many extras as you can part wit before you flash the ROM. I get rid of all the ringtones and LiveWallpapers since I just use my own from the SD card.

you can use winsuk , S2E in the CM 10 thread

I use winsuk's CM10, but can't say that cm10 faster than cm9, but cm10 is really comfortable than cm9

i'm using winsuk CM10 alpha 4. it's definitely nice, and feels a bit smoother/more stable than munjeni CM9 so far. thumbs up!

Just wait until the layering issues are fixed on MDP composition it gets much better (CM9 uses MDP composition I believe)

Yes, jellybean is a tiny bit faster. But it consumes more battery. That's what I noticed

Why is MIUI smoother than Cyanogen?

MIUI is based off CM yet It runs smoother. With MIUI there is no need for project butter. I understand that MIUI took CMs hard work and made it closed source, and this makes me want to support CM. But I've always noticed MIUI runs way nicer. Everything works faster too. I spent today comparing MIUI to CM9 and it everything works far better, like downloading from market is faster, getting location for BeWeather and stuff like that.
Live wallpapers are smoother too. There's slight lag and stalls on CM which I just don't see on MIUI.
I just want someone to explain to me why this is, if they can. Is it the way MIUI is built? Is it faster because it has no app draw?
and I think CM9 has a problem with autobrightness whereas MIUI controls brightness very well
First of all MIUI is no more based on CM source. Now they use stock roms

i9300 not at all smooth? :/

Good morning.
Ive been using my i9300 for about two months now. Im a former iPhone 4 user. I have noticed that the i9300 despite the fact that it has quad-core and 1GB RAM, is not at all smooth :/ I always get lag in the Homescreen and in the settings etc etc. I've tried like 20 ROMS or so :/ am i doing something wrong here? E.g. scrolling between homepages can get laggy! That wasnt supposed to happen right?\
Im currently at MIUI 2.9.14 ROM. Maybe im doing something wrong when i flash a new ROM?
What are the steps?
I delete the whole internalSD, i perform a data/factory reset via CWM, i delete cache and Dalvik Cache. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Yeah try that combo. Wanam or Omega Jelly Bean XXDLI8 leaks are very smooth.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
there are plenty of custom roms out there,
most of the JB leaks are much smoother than the ICS roms i have been using.( i am sure there are ICs roms that are smooth as well , just that i have not tested before. )
currently on Omega v23 and happy with it, no lags. you may just have to spend some time experimenting which one is to your preference.
Sir, I suggest you try out Omega ROM (ICS or JB) doesn't really matter, cause Omega is really really stable. I'm not prompting whatsoever because I'm on MIUI 2.9.14 too with hardcore speed mod kernel and it is perfectly great.
One advice, try not flashing so many ROMs at one go because it might cause system error such as connectivity to wifi or packet data. Stick to one you really like.
Edit: Do a full wipe, flash back stock firmware on PC Odin and root again to remove any bad 'history' and the lag too.
Hope I did manage to help!
Great day

If you want a rapid ICS rom then use Foxhound 1.4.3, it is quite simply the best ICS rom there is, and believe me i've tried them all.
Couple it with Galaxsih kernel @normal and apex launcher not much comes close to it.
As for Jelly bean, take your pick but just know that there are no final builds as of yet and all of them are leaks, meaning that kernel support is limited.
Thanks everyone ive never flashed back to stock before i used custom rom and i think that May be it like one of you suggested. About that miui rom and hardcore speed mod. It works on any MIUI rom or only on specific ones? If it does work on every miui where can i find it? I really like miui
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
You are welcome mate hmm what do you mean?? I'm using hardcore speed mod on my MIUI rom and I don't experience any lag (Provided you use apex launcher PRO too) I even have great battery life (8 hrs of hardcore using; with wifi or packet data On). You can definitely flash speedmod on your MIUI 2.9.14 and you will know what I mean.
Omega ICS on the other hand, is really stable and having that 'stock-ish' feel. But on MIUI, you know we rule the game.
Edit: If you wanna try out Omega, do a full wipe, flash back stock firmware (It will unroot device) then root again then try out Omega. It is really your decision.
But again, you know who rule the game with MIUI. Haha.
Great day ahead.

To get rid of the memory leak, go to ES Explorer, give it root and write permissions (in its options), then go to system/bin/ and delete kiesexe. You won't be able to use Kies anymore, but it'll kill the leak because it's caused by that process.
you should use the stock TW without scrolling wallpaper mod =p
I just prefer you to flash DLI18 stock JB from sammobile, wipe everything before flash, and I would prefer you to change animation scale and duration scale from 1 to 0.5,

Just a suggestion.... If you really like MIUI, but want a smoother and more stable ROM, why don't you flash the latest CM10 build, and then install MiHome Launcher? MiHome Launcher is the default launcher used in MIUI and it comes with an optional MIUI lockscreen as well. Once both are installed, it's virtually indistinguishable from a full MIUI ROM. Plus, it'll have the speed and smoothness of Jelly Bean with the stability of CyanogenMod (or as stable as a pre-release build can be).
Anyway, it was just a thought. Good luck to ya'!

can any just tell me which is the best rom?
im thinking between superleggera, jellysandwhich, iced bean and flylight....
and again sorry for asking but i need just some advice

Nothing against the devs of ICS ROMs but ICS can never be as good as JB. Tried PACman and it's amazing. Btw I've tried every single ROM and I say this one's the best. But try all of them, it's worth it.

I've been using flylight for a while now and can strongly recommend it. As a base Rom it's clean and fast and it has coped with all the mods I've layered on top
The other approach is to choose something like jelly sandwich; with its aroma installer you have your choice of all the best mods out there.
As far as I can tell all of the 587 roms are pretty tight so it really is a choice between a stripped Rom like fly light or s fully featured one like jelly sandwich.
Don't discount CM either the ics build is excellent imo.

+1 for flylight. everything works lightning fast
also can try SuperleggeraV3 !
PAC alpha 11.2. Best for daily use. Lots of customization! Go for it
My favorites are JellySandwich and Aires repacked by 4pda.ru rom (gb).
Miui if you want customization... or flylight or jellyswandwich for performance!!!

which version of PAC did you try?
i'm verry happy with PAC alpha 11 +1st patch.
verry responsive, fast (3200 antutu @ 806/134mhz) many many options and good battery life
(in alpha 10 battery life was bad, 11 is very good).
Hey guys I really appreciate for this advice thank you
I'm on jellysandwich now 6.2 and it still has bugs and I feel that its slow don't know why but whatever. I'm going to try superleggera now than flylight and than ill make my choice. Pac and fxp don't work since they are cm based don't why but both of them give me fc android.phone.process I believe its sim related because I can't get a single bar of reception. If I put it on airplane mod I don't get fc

for me i like FXP CM 9.1 and MIUI ROM
since other ROM ROM just a stock ROM has been strip down and tweaked...
The AOKP on its own gave me really bad graphical errors, though PAC worked fine. BUT for MMS problems......
Tried a few of the other ICS roms.. Jelly, Opti, MIUI(liked the least), Pureness, HD......
I really like Opti and Jelly Sandwich6.2(not tried the newer one) For now I have settled on CM9.1

Most stable touchpad ROM today?

I am wondering what the most stable touchpad ROM for android is? I was trying out the CM9 nightlies and was on the 10/14 nightly but it was not working real well for me. I also have the latest TWRP recovery. I am not sure what the issue was, but the wifi would frequently cut out and when I would reboot it would skip Moboot.
I changed to AOKP&CM9 Remix 9/24 with WebOS Style Switcher.
Awesome, no lag, no random reboot at all or wifi issues.
I've overclocked to 1.78GHz and changed the scaling governer to performance. Brilliant, so fast, so snappy etc. No noticeable effect on battery life either as it uses deep sleep well.
I am using the 0930 nightlie and I'm not having any issues.I've actually never had any issues with any of the nightlies.I am very satisfied with all of them. They (the devs) do a great job. That is the only reason why I bought the TP.
I have been using RandomROM Falcon 1.x for a few weeks. Very stable, great battery life. To be honest, the recent CM night lies were pretty stable for me but just felt like a change.

Well, it's tough to go back to GB after you've used ICS for a while. That said, it's really up to you and your preferences whether you want to use GB or ICS.
Personally, I would prefer CM9, because it is more customizable than stock GB. But don't let my words make the decision for you.
Try out both the ROMs, see which one you like and make your decision.
Good luck. :good:
In my opinion sony ics is absolutely poo. Is cm9 really that much better tho?

gb rocks pros: more free ram, loud volume, really stable
cm9 pros: ics features, better camera, smoother
also, if i remember correctly, there's a rom that combines a cm9 core with some features from cm10 and cm10.1. you may want to give it a shot!
Why? I used ics with sliding kernel, the best you can get from sola. I just removed some apps and it run couple of months without hiccups.
No mods except cyber shot and fidelity. Fluid, stable and awesome battery life and the best, fully featured, everything working fine.
