I have an Evo 3D CDMA
S-off Hboot 1.40
ICS OTA Firmware bits.
I tried ICS OTA Radio, then 2.17 Radios.
Tried the ##3282# and edit the WiMAX from -82 to -110
Can anybody help me? It says Scanning..

I would imagine it's the network in your area. I've had situations where 4g wouldn't work at my house for weeks at a time, but worked fine in other areas of my city. Then it would just start working again and be back to normal. Have you tried on sense roms as well as cm9?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
Knowing Sprint, I would say it's the network as well. Give them a quick call to make sure it's not the network. Also, make sure you still have your wimax keys, there's a wimax key checker app in the market.

How do I fix it? It was working fine a week ago, I'm running eternity, 1x is too slow, i thought it was just displaying wrong icon but it is not. I've updated profile, tried different PRLs even 00001 and still no luck. 4g works great.

I have this issue for a while now just figured out my 3g has not been working for a while. Any answers to this?
I'm am not sure on whether either of you guys are cdma or gsm but it sounds like you guys flashed a outdated prl. you could try flashing a latest prl or perform a prl update to see if that works. Also, another problem could be you have older firmware that isnt playing very nicely with prl's. Upgrading your radios might solve your problems. Again, hardly any imformation on your ends have justified the current attempts at formulating an adequate solution. Usually these methods will cure you of that dreaded 1x signal.
If you're on a stock sense ROM with working epst. Do ##data#, enter your msl, then hit menu and select restore profile. I did this when stuck on 1x. You'll go through a hands on activation and should have 3g back again.

I have rooted my EVO LTE using HTC Dev and S-OFF with Lazy Panda. I applied the De-odexed STOCK 1.22.651.3 ROM and 1.05.11.0606 radio. When I toggle LTE off, I have no 3G data, but with LTE on data works fine. With LTE enabled, "Network Signal Info" reports net type as EHRPD. With LTE toggled off, net type is listed as EVDO Rev A, with a data state of disconnected.
Can anyone help me here?
How are you even able to toggle LTE off?

I DO realize that leaving the phone in LTE/CDMA mode will solve my problem. But for battery life reasons, I prefer to leave my phone in CDMA mode only until LTE is "switched on".

HTC has already said there would be no difference with lte/cdma being on. It's not like there's two different radios on at the same time. Cdma and lte are both built in the same chip. Just leave it alone...no need for the tinkering.

Something tells me the "fix" for my 3G data problem will be wiping my phone and reloading the 1.13.651.1 RUU and waiting for the bugs to be worked out.
Call Sprint and have them reset your data connection.

There's no difference in battery UNLESS you have LTE connection. LTE will drain the battery a lot faster.
OP, if you don't have LTE, just keep it on. As long as you aren't using it, you won't drain any faster.

I suppose I COULD leave the data connection to CDMA/LTE, but that kind of defeats my initial question. I think I might go for a drive and see if it's perhaps just the local tower causing me issues, or if this "bug" persists outside my home turf.

After profile update switch Moble Network mode.

Did you find a fix?
I have found that after I update my profile this happens to me also. Same thing 2 phones rooted. or not rooted, s-off or not s-off. Don't matter.
Just switch to CDMA only if you updated on LTE/CDMA. Or switch to LTE/CDMA if you updated on CDMA only. This works for me, don't know why but it does. Every time! Also have found that after some time I can switch back and all is well.
Hope this helps

Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one with problems. As the saying goes, misery loves company.
As for now, I'm thinking I might just run run the RUU and go back to stock 1.13.651.1 (unrooted) for a while and see how things fare. I can "deal" without root access for a few weeks, and who knows, maybe by then the DEV community will have found a way to S-OFF the new 1.22.651.3 OTA update. I'm in the greater Boston market and we're due to have LTE switched on VERY soon. I'll save a Nandroid backup of my current s-off/rooted 1.22.651.3 in case I want to visit this in the future.

Ok so with my CDMA only & LTE/CDMA dilemma behind me, my phone is now switching the 3G on to send and receive MMS messages. This is the first time I've seen this with my EVO LTE. Previously my MMS messages were sent and received via WiFi, which was noticeably faster. DO you have any tips to help me in this scenario?
Justin
I have had the same issue and haven't been able to resolve it.
I had 3G up until last Tuesday in Minnesota and talked with Sprint. They tried to reset my phone and then tried to do the hands free activation and it failed. I flew to Dallas for vacation, turned on the phone and it activated in less than 30 seconds.
Returned back from Dallas and still no 3G in Minnesota (Minneapolis and Central MN).
I do have my MSL, but any tips on how to get 3G data back again?
Hi, so this month my 3G seemed extremely slow with pings in the 1000+, as well as less than 0.10mbps download/upload speeds. Today I noticed it's only connecting to 1X. This is even with full bars.
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Sprint who tried refreshing everything to no avail. They had me reset the settings within ##DATA# also.
It started some time, this month, after the last update. I am rooted, S-OFF, etc. running Stock With Goodies and even reverted back to the regular stock ROM and nothing is changed. I have the latest radios and firmwares also.
I don't have LTE in my area, but 3G is usually pretty decent. I have 3 other phones (EVO 3D's) in my home, all on 3G fine. I had Sprint activate my 3D to my line and it worked fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sprint is undergoing a major network overhaul. If your device connects to 3g fine in other areas than its a sprint issue and nothing you can do except wait for the work to be completed.

have you try doing the service reset? ##SCRTN# (##72786#) that is better then doing the ##3282# when you do the ##72786# that is going to redo the hands-free activation and do the prl update and at the same time it's going to be refreshing the service
HTC EVO LTE
It you can't get 3g any where you may need to replace the phone. That's what happened to me... And I couldn't fix it no matter what I did.

That's what they ended up saying when nothing worked. I'm trying to not do that, if possible, because I don't want to get a refurbished phone, as I had a bad experience with the last one I got from them.
have you tried a full ##786# reset? (it will get your phone to factory fresh condition, and erase all data)
I had the same issue, and no amount of profile updates, ##3282# resets or ##72786# resets helped, final suggestion was a factory reset which did work, be sure to Nandroid before trying it
Hopefully you don't have the same problem, I tried factory restarting it four different ways, all kinds of other resets and dialer things and settings... Nothing worked.

Sadly, I think I do.
So, as I was around town, I noticed it does connect to 3G, but only for maybe 10-30 seconds then drops back to 1X. It even has trouble holding a 1X data connection now.
So, my last option is to return it to Sprint. I have it rooted and also have S-OFF. To return it for warranty replacement, I need to remove root (I will flash the RUU, etc.) Do I also have to get S-ON, if so how is that accomplished?
Thank you all for your help.
You will need to relock it. There is a fastboot command for it somewhere.

Before you do all this... how is development in your area? Is Network Vision currently being implemented? I ask this because I am having similar issues and have for a few weeks. The reason? It was Network Vision being put into place and towers being set up with eHRPD protocol for the lte <-> cdma handoff. After doing a large search on it, it seems any areas that are getting LTE especially, and soon at that (like mine) are having the same problems you're describing. Seemingly because Sprint is locking phones out of connecting to the towers as they continue work with NV and LTE. Have you tried setting the phone to CDMA/EVDO only? This is the only option that works for me until this development is finished.

Hello. I recently used an app called 4G LTE Switch to try and toggle my LTE and I accidentally changed the radio band. Now the phone is stuck in roaming mode only and never switches back to sprint. I have tried factory resetting and switching roms. I am currently running HTC EVO 4G LTE SharkieRom 3.17 S-ON. The device is rooted and S-ON as I can't get it to S-OFF but thats a different problem. I would just like to get my radios working properly again.
I've been back and forth with roms trying to fix this. I started in GpE and I could turn lte on but never had signal. I tried a newer radio and still no go. So I went to stock AT&T sense 6 with ruu and now I can not even enable lte. It immediately switches back to wcdma preferred. I am s-off if I need to use that, I just have the boot loader relocked right now. Any ideas?
EDIT: Just tried HBOOT 1.56.0000, multiple radios, and still does not work. I can use LTE, CDMA but haven't been able to test to see if that connects to LTE yet. I am completely baffled by this.
