I am new to this great phone , and I have been searching information of hellraiser . I went through the steps hellraising a Taiwan version rom yesterday . It works perfectly.
After that , I was confused about the principle of hellraising. Can someone tell me how the hellraiser work ? Fix the original s2's kernal or modem ? There are many kernals for the rom I'm using now . Can I flash them?

It doesn't fix anything except the key layout (which is different than the international version) it replaces the kernel and modem with a compatible one for our phone. So no you can not just flash any kernel, it has to be one for our phone in this section.

Hi
Im new with a sgs2, i can flash my sgs2 with any rom, i have ki4 in this moments

Yes, just make sure it matches your phone model. Most roms are for the international (i9100) version, so don't mix them up. Follow the instructions carefully, and exactly step by step, and you're out of harm's way .
I have i9100 latinamerica, I have rom ki4 rooted, which you can recommend to be stable

Stable? pick one from the original development thread, any that is based of a samsung rom, you can pick and try until you find your favorite flavor.
This roms is for pda flash???

it's just a feeling...
but if you come to here (xda), probably do you don't look for official rom.
In generally the custom roms or beta is working fine.
now you have information a lot to research here.
good luck.
Just test some roms to see what's best for you. I think you have here alot of choices so goodluck mate!
I've searched this question in the forum and couldn't find it.
I want to put a custom rom on my galaxy ace GT-5380L, but all the roms available are for GT-5380. I tested some roms made for GT-5380 and they work, but I don't know if there is any difference beside the modem for south america.
I also tested 3G on this rom I mentioned and worked fine, but I want to know if there is something I'm not finding.

I tested a custom rom and I could use 3g without changing the modem, that means that I don't have to change the modem?

I didn't mean change the modem physically, but to change the driver in the new ROM.
No you don't need to do anything...I have the same " L" version and I was hesitant as well to start flashing ROM's but I've flashed over 10 so far and everything works.
Don't worry about it go crazy

Read the first page of the thread for the kernel you want to try. That will tell you which roms it's compatible with.
No suggestions. Reasons being you use your phone differently to everyone else, have it set up differently & no two phones come out of the factory the same. So you won't have exactly the same experience as me with a given rom or kernel. Also, many people who are users of a particular rom or kernel end up being total fanboys, rendering their opinion on same biased/meaningless.
So...Try out a bunch of roms/kernels until you find one you like. With CWM, it's so easy to backup/restore & flash roms/kernels there's no excuse for you not trying a bunch out for yourself.
Thanks man

So I asked a question like three days ago and I think I wasn't very clear
I have a Mexican SG3 and I want to try one of the European Jelly Bean Roms that have been out for weeks but I haven't really understood how does the builds and basebands work on this phone, I used to have an epic 4g touch from Sprint and I was used to only have one kind of baseband because it's an us phone only, but with this one I don't know what all the XX(insert random letters here) builds mean cause my phone has a build number of UBBLG2 and I'm afraid that if I install one of the jelly bean roms my data service will be lost...could someone please tell me how does this work
Sent from my GT-I9300
since its the international s3, you have no problem.
If you lose your service flash a compatible modem/radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

There is only one modem for JB, much more simple than allthe ics stuff. In the pointed thread download XXDLID baseband if you don't already have it.

Don't worry, just flash the jb rom. If you encounter andyproblem, then you should flash another modem.

I even have 'csc unknown' and no problem at all.
I have this problem: with stock CM 10.1 installation files, sometimes people are not able to call me and I am not able to call others. I only can fix this by restarting my I9100 or turning on and off airplane mode.
I asked about this issue in this forum, and one man recommended to install custom modem. So I would like to ask, what kind of modem should I install in order to fix this problem?
Thanks.
You can try the app Getril, from the play store. However I'm not quite sure what is meant by a custom modem. There is a thread here that has modems matched to RILs but as yet non have been made for 4.2.1. I looked there this morning. All I can suggest is try a fully clean installation or roll back to your previous rom.
All the best

By modem I mean that file which you choose when you install custom rom through download mode in odin's "modem" section.
I see, all the modems I've ever flashed were in zip format done via CMW. Sorry I can't be of further assistance.

Yup. On xda, you'll find that majority prefer the use of CWM recovery over odin since it doesn't increase the binary counter and is much easier. Simply download any modem for your device (which will be in a .zip format) and flash from recovery.
Remember that modems are not rom or android version specific. A gingerbread modem can be used with a jellybean rom.

By custom modem i thought he was referring to the modified modem/ril zip files that are better than those supplied by the Getril app. In that thread it states not use GB or ICS files with JB roms. Thread attached for your reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31416701

Before the release of the leak (XXLSJ), many were on cm10 (4.1.2) with older modems/rils, usually those of ICS. It does work, but maybe its not so optimised to work on JB? I dunno, I'm not that much of a technical expert...
