You can't change the rom until someone finds a way to root that firmware, or unless you downgrade your firmware to a previous version.

Nope.
I had v10n and z4root failed to root it. I flashed my phone with v10b using KDZ updater and then z4root worked. Here you will find the tutorial. Make sure you also have LG drivers installed.
Good luck!

Once you have acquired root via CWM, you can flash any rom you like.

Having a problem- can't seem to root
Hey guys- I have a question/problem.
I updated via Kies as well. I didn't like the stock ROM, so I wanted to go back to "The Unofficial" that I was using before. However I can't find the right thread to get mine rooted for some reason. Can somebody point me to the right one please? I'm still fairly new at this and trying to get the hang of it.
Thanks!

I tried to the Odin root method after upgrading to the official ICS. It wouldn't boot. It got stuck at SAMSUNG logo.

No.
Once you have CWM you can flash any Rom...You would only need root of you wanted to run that firmware....rooting with cwm before you flash a Rom is an exercise in futility...the Rom itself will be rooted one flashed.

That's because you just flashed a gingerbread kernel on an ics Rom.
The gingerbread root .tar is for gingerbread only...
Solved! Thank you,

Hello everyone, i own a xt910 version of droid razr with 2.3.6 gingerbread running on 6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-1-CEE build and so far i have tried 3 rooting methods for gingerbread, but none of them worked after running the run.bat or some other method of running my phone would just reboot after 15second and nothing had happened, but i haven't managed to make AdamOutler's rooting method to run ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1586570 ). more specifically can anyone tell me how to make the ''Motofail-CASUAL-PublicBeta1.jar'' run as a .jar? if i press Right click> open with>(and go to java folder and select the java application) it would just give me an error? thanks for the help and don't flame on me for being a newbie
