Any one else have info on the next OTA? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I tried searching this on xda, so please forgive me if i missed it. I dont think i can post links yet, but when i google "evo lte next ota", i get a hit from s4gru with an article saying its only a few days away. That thread, however, has turned into a completely different discussion about CDMA, with no further info about the OTA. Anyone have new details regarding the inteded topic?

That post was dated for July 27th. The link in the thread leads to this, which indicates that the update is rather simple and will not be the big one we're waiting for.

Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), probably with an updated Sense version (4.1 as well)

I would love that update as well, but thats mot to say a minor one isnt strongly desired. The last OTA did more harm than good to my handset, but i know there's another thread for me to complain about that =] thanks for the reply guys! As a noob, its always nice to feel welcome to share in a community of gangster-ass devs.

seems like everybody is excited about this update including me. so whats best, jump out and do the update or wait until someone have a safe rooted port?
Considering the end of the month is in two days.. this is exciting. We've already heard this might arrive in January. If they think the may possibly have it by the end of the month it feels like we can't be more than a week away from having it. Here's hoping for Monday .
Does anyone know if Sense 3.6 = Sense 4.0? I mean last week there was this thing about Pocketnow.com trying out "Sense 4.0" and praising it a lot. Does anyone know if s that the same version of Sense we should expect when the update hits?

The amaze is getting 3.6 not 4.0 unfortunately but i hope we have some devs that will get this with beats audio with the little notify thingy also getting us 4.0 as well. I mean i would expect us getting 4.0 custom but not stock.
It would be awesome if we get it by end of next week.. Just imagine, sense 3.6 and superbowl..

Right. At this point an OTA would be a downgrade for some. But it will def help perfect the ICS builds.
it's not even that it's the kernel source they release like 2 weeks after the ota that we need.

Fat chance in hell we're receiving a Jellybean OTA. The OG Evo got 1 major lifetime upgrade to GB. So we can expect the same for our 3D's as well.
The differences so far from 4.0.4 (ICS) and 4.1 (Jellybean) are Chrome is now the default browser, and a more sophisticated search widget. That's only what I've seen, there are probably 100's more.

Most likely. And I'm sure a few UI changes. They completely revamped androids UI with 4.0 so I'm sure some tweaking is sure to follow.
And a nice slue of performance increases the likes of which 2.2 brought would be nice one can hope.
What would also be nice is if it consumed less battery. All the new graphics drain more than people tend to know
Also, since the VM evo 3d is launching with ics, with jelly bean just around the corner will it receive the update?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
I'm hoping jelly bean brings group messaging. Since no app can achieve it, native functionality would be nice.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
It's been confirmed with Sprint. They don't sell candy to users.
But seriously, I remember HTC agreeing with some update alliance a long time ago. They agreed to keep all devices updated for 18 months. considering it's been 12 months and Jellybean is coming out soon, we should get the update but I don't know if HTC will folllow through.
Even if they don't, CM9 by then will hopefully have WiMax and 3D so it's just a matter of CM9 getting updated to CM10.

I agree though - when I switched from GB Sense 2.1/3.0 to ICS AOSP the group messaging hit me
the work around was to compose a message with all the recipients and then you have the 'group message' set up and can send to all at once.

Assuming the driver model doesn't change that much (and that we ever get stable ICS drivers), we'll get it from one of the AOSP projects eventually. I highly doubt we'll see an "official" JB release.

hmmm when was our phone released? lol. 18 months.... hmmmm I vote that we sue sprint then HTC if it isn't released to us. If they develop a product, SOMEONE BETTER INSURE THEY SUPPORT that product! Cheaper to finish supporting the phone than it will be if I sue them for 120 Million each. You know that HTC and sprint both read these forums. I wouldn't be surprised if they have someone that is paid just to read these and keep them informed of what we want and say.
haha, jellybean on the 3D.... HIGHLY unlikely.

Custom Jelly Bean Roms For Rezound?

So I've been looking around and from what I can tell, the jelly bean situation for the rezound is looking pretty bleak considering the fact that it hasn't even received ics yet. That doesn't phase me though because I figured I could just install a custom rom and get it now; however, it seems thats not the case because for some reason no one seems confident that a custom jelly bean rom for the rezound is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there already custom jb roms for other phones? So I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me why a custom jb rom for the rezound is not possible? And if it is why hasn't anyone made one?

There are currently no AOSP ROMs available for the rezound - only sense based ROMs. As there are no sense based jelly bean ROMs, there are no jelly bean ROMs period for the rezound.
Now my real advice - read more, wait patiently, and don't ask for etas.

We're in a position to get AOSP, not /about/ to get AOSP. Just because there's a working RIL doesn't mean the kernel or the rom is ready to go. Could be days, could be weeks before we see it. Don't get people's hopes up, you're less likely to be disappointed.

Soooo uhhh hmmm... When's the ETA on when we can start asking bout ETAs? Lol jk.. just yanking or chain. K.. my answer for OP: I can almost certainly promise u that by mid next 2013 we should see jelly bean for Rezound. Reason I say that is because as of recently the RIL (which is what allows the phone to receive 4G LTE) has finally been cracked/resolved. And the official OTA ICS is soon for us. Also ICS-Jelly Bean is not that huge of an update, it is most likely we will be receiving that as well.

Means nothing, 2.2 -> 2.3 wasn't massive either, yet it still took Verizon 6+ months to update some of their phones.

cant be that broken.........its cm9 which has basically all the base code for msm8660 devices.....the kernel is the only thing that might not be ready due to being a 2.6.35 kernel and not 3.0 but 2.6.35 works fine for the most part

Are you serious? Stuck?
Considering that only 0.8% (not event one percent) of Android handsets globally have JB, Rezound owners will now be in the category second only to those with GB on their handsets. Enjoy ICS for now and you know very well that the amazing devs here will generate a JB ROM for the Rezound as soon as they have the "raw materials" to do so.

Yes i am very much serious that I'm stuck. Don't get me wrong, i like ics a lot, but I find it annoying that Google releases New versions of android and i don't get to use them until months later. I know it's not Googles fault, but it is frustrating nonetheless. That is why I'm waiting for the next nexus phone. Until then I'll rely on the awesome devs here at xda.
