I have a set a password on Friday while I was drunk, while I was away from home so that no one can use my phone, but karma played a dirty trick on my memory - I forgot a password!
I just tried to restore my phone to previous firmware, but unfortunately I received an error "801812E0".
Is there any way I can unlock the password of my phone?

I guess that is the only thing to do...
Is there any other option?
If I remember right 801812E0 happens when you have a backup with one OS version and you try to restore on top of another OS version. Either way best thing to do is either a factory reset or go back to which ever OS version that backup was originally made from.
Did a hard reset, everything seems fine.

How do I do a full factory wipe of my phone? I know you can go into privacy and do a factory reset but that is for data only isn't it? I want to make the phone how it came in the box. I was rooted and had the lag fix installed but I have undone both in preparation for this. Thanks.

You will have to flash it with odin to get back to full stock. why do you need it back to stock?
You can do a "factory format" not a factory reset, and this will erase all data and restore to factory settings. Download my service menu program in my signature to do this. Otherwise do what the last poster did and reflash with odin.
phone seems slower in general than when I got it a few weeks ago, wondering if I messed something up playing with it. also I have a lot of fails when texting. just want to get it back like it came then start over.

If it was me I would do a Clockwork recovery of the stock rom. Im a little afraid of Odin due to all the bricks I have seen on the forums involving Odin (plus im on a Mac). If you are not returning it to Tmobile you could also try one of the roms that are posted in the forums. I would recomend Bionix or Frankin-twiz. Both devs are spot on with thier roms.
Factory Format Code is *2767*3855#

Just do a factory format, all the other methods listed are complicated
Go to dialer and dial in:
*2767*3855#
thats it, it will format your device and set it back to factory.
you can do a soft reset by dialing in
*#*#7780#*#*

tried that it erases all your data and settings but doesn't restore anything you have removed. will most likely use clockwork then.
Is there a way to reset the phone so to speak (delete all of its data in preperation for a sale) but keep the latest current OS installed?
I have unlocked my Australian Vodafone Galaxy S2, factory reset, then I updated from gingerbread to 4.1.2. I would like to be able to sell it saying it's running 4.1.2, but in performing any kinda factory reset/wipe I'm going to be stuck back at 2.2.0 (or whatever) arn't I?
Basically what is the best way to prepare an android phone for sale whilst maintaining the best OS version?

Nope. I can explain to you the whole logic behind wiping/factory reset but long story short if you do a reset through for example the option in the settings menu it will only erase personal data such as apps contacts etc. Try it yourself the OS will remain the same as before the reset.

Yes sir
ROMNUKECLEANER!!!! :highfive:
is there any way to reset the phone and rollback the OS?
No. If you want to 'rollback' the OS; I.E either go back to stock from custom or go back to earlier stock, you need to flash it. A factory reset won't achieve that.
got my X today and testet some custom roms, but after i tested omni, my phone always ask for a password to encrypt the system partition but i never set one.
is there a "general password" or something to get rid of that?
this is happened when you re flash stock rom and check MASTER RESET but never wipe internal storage.
you will have to reflash / wipe all, there is no other way (at least not that I know of)
all data will be lost and you will get your internal storage back
i do a full wipe now, but i still encounter this problem. cant believe its just about master-reset because even if i dont wipe it, i get questioned about the password wich i dont know. if i enter "default_password" it says "your password is correct but your files are corrupted please go back to your recovery and wipe your system" but in TWRP this password doesnt work and i cant wipe anything besides cache. I cant even set a pasword if i'm on stock .252
never thought it would be such a pain in the ass to flash a custom-rom on the X...
so, after some tests, even if i set a pattern lock, after flashing any custom-rom it says my pattern is wrong. i don't know what to do to get rid of this, i hope some of you guys can help me because at this level i just only can use stock-rom
[Edit]
after more research, i found a tipp on a guide for One+ that data (encryption) can be erased in twrp. So, i did and wow, it works. good to know.

thank you! i didn't know that!
life is diy project!
My phone is encrypted and After I flashed an update of a custom rom it required me to enter a password to start android
I did my screen pin and it won't accept it. I tried default_password it did not work too, also twrp has locked me out of my data
don't tell me to wipe my data its really important and I need it.
And this is why we backup....
The encryption key was unique to the old version of Android, even re-flashing stock is NO guarantee of recovering data...
Sorry...

LOL! Its funny, while Im reading your post, Im clean flashing my phone from bootlegger to xiaomi eu stable rom. Cleared up security pin, flashed DFE magisk v19.3 prior and after flashing the rom, and guess what? Ended up in same situation as you. HAHAHA! I think Im gonna give up with this whole decryption thing. Its really s**ks, sometimes DFE works and sometimes it just wouldnt work. I think I have lost my data and flashed fastboot rom for 10 times since playing with this device.
Anyway, theres no other way to get back the data that we lost. Its just, FRUSTRATING and really wasting our time to decrypt the whole phone back.

exactly the same as you it has happened to me more than one time!!
anyways I managed to make it accept my password by going to the previous build where the password was set up originally.
but the smiles and happiness didn't continue for long, it showed me a message saying that the decryption was unsuccessful and I have to reset my phone to use it again.
I finally gave here I put up a good fight, I did reset my phone and this time I flashed DFE. this phone is so trippie man you have to do a backup before flashing anything!!
also if you are locked up from your phone that means it was encrypted before, id rather my phone be decrypted atleast when I run into issues I can have my data back. this whole encryption thing forces you to wipe your phone, but give what I said a try go back to the previous rom and try unlocking it there. good luck man.
Hi,
I seriously ****ed up big time. So it started with this. I just wanted to upgrade my magisk, clicked on direct install as usual. Something went wrong I guess because after the upgrade my phone won't boot, just into fastboot. Then I've got an idea, reflashing LOS (at that time I was able to access my storage from TWRP but strangely it did not asked for a password, but it always did before) So yeah, I reflashed LOS which went well(? idk) and after that LOS and TWRP started to ask for a password. I've tried my lock screen pin (which was ok every time before this very unfortunate event, but not ok now), I started Googlin and found a few other passwords like: "default_password" or "none" but neither works of coruse.
What is your opinion, is there any way that I can access that encrypted **** or I should just format everything and restart from a blank phone?
Okay kids the moral of the story: do your ****ing backups regularly!
Thanks
Try to delete locksettings.db in root/data/system via twrp using file explorer

Thanks, that'd be good, but apparently I can't see any file in that folder.
Something is wrong then...data must be mounted. Corect location is data/system/locksettings.db

No. There's no way to recover your data. You'll have to format your storage.

Also happened to me when I try rooting my phone using Kingo. I removed the battery, then put it back. Turned on and it worked again.
