Hello everyone, I'm Italian and I chose to write in this forum because I think is the most complete and efficient web user to write a little English that I learned and google translator, so forgive the many errors!
I have a x10 mini about a month, after a few days I have been upgraded to 2.1 and started to download some applications and understand how it was Android over the world.
I found myself with a perfect machine, root made with flash tools, removed the system applications (those that could be removed without problems, so I've seen and read here) from 8 gb sd with two partitions and to move applications of link2sd sd taking the free internal memory. After a few days the first problem:
- When I got up the next morning found the cell switched off
- Sometimes it was lit, lit only
- Sometimes you do not want to turn more
so having read on the Sony Ericsson site that is a matter of fact I sd "back to the factory data" and everything is back to normal, I reinstalled almost everything that was there before with one difference: I did not remove any application system, I left everything. I can not say if all goes well because I did it again this morning and should definitely spend time
BUT ..... reading around on various forums I realized that you can install an alternative Rom (Rom I do not know what that means but I think the 'operating system')
I would like to know what is! waiting for your explanation and thank you in advance!
All you need is right here.
Read the whole threads and see what others say about each ROM and make you´r own mind up whay you want one and what benefits it has.
thanks so much

At the moment it is completely original, if Roma want an operating system! Why did not really understand what anncora is meant by the term "Roma" ..
I just upgraded to 2.1 via PC companion, then performed with root and xrecovery flashtool finally installed some normal application:
Go launcher
JuiceDefender
dazzle
fancy widgets
copilot
zimply
etc. etc.
In short, applications like normal!
Meanwhile, I continue to have problems installing a ROM or do you think this will stop happening? Or it could be due to the root?
However, I read that formatting the SD because this issue is resolved, or sd is damaged or altered by some application installed above (ops.. I forgot, I also link2sd and the second partition for apk), and each time the format it does not happen more until they began to use the SD!

Have seen this on my previous Xperia S a reboot solved the issue and everything is back looks like a bug
Its to do with the internal mem, if you install to the phone mem the apps wont vanish , if you install the the " SD " some apps vanish . When you restart the system the internal mem fires up last on boot up , hence the phone seams to already allocate its mem to phone.
I hope this is fixed asap , as it bugging me !!
As to what apps get deleted, it seams random . I have 87 apps now on my phone , and don't want to start putting them all in the phone mem!

I have this problem as well i thought it wasn't just me. Sometimes my xperia s crashes randomly when im in an app(wtf) then when i reset the phone an app might be gone. It seems everytime you restart the phone you might lose an app. So try and dont restart till they come out with a fix...
Never had this issue,Maybe a factory reset ot format the sd can solve this problem.
I have this issue constantly with eBay, PayPal, Quickoffice and insider. I now leave these apps on the phone memory. Bloody pain in the arse.

That would explain why I've not seen it then.. Having such a big memory I haven't bothered moving anything off to 'sd' yet.

This will not help.
More to do with the apps not liking the transition over to the internal storage.

Never seen this type of behaviour on my XS, however what I did have on my older Android phones was that after a reboot you can see the app icon, but on clicking it it says "App isn't installed". This is purely for "SD" apps and after a few seconds (depending on the speed of your phone) you should be able to open them, but never had them completely disappearing.

I too have the same issue in my XS..started facing this from last 2 weeks only and my XS is about seven months old! Is there something I can get corrected within warranty period from service center?
Hey all, I've been using Google Play Music for quite some time with no problem whatsoever. My files are OCD-like tagged and organized. Under CM7 and CM9 I had zero problems with the info being correctly read by the app.
But all of a sudden, under CM10 (and once when I rolled back to CM9), random songs (not the same ones every time I wipe and re-copy the music to the MicroSD card) end up under the "Unknown artist" label.
Since I've had this problem in not just CM10, I am posting this as a separate thread, rather than in that ROM's thread.
Any idea what's going on? It's driving me crazy. I've cleared cache and data many times for the app and let it re-scan my music. I've deleted it off my MicroSD multiple times and then re-copied it. No luck.
I've searched XDA Developers and the Internet about this many times to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?
Hate to double-post, but I feel like this is getting buried real quick.
Have you tried, other players to see if they'd do the same exact thing? Kinda like, if its broken, try a new alternative.

+1 I've been running CM9 stable and at one point Apollo stopped picking up my music from my phone all together, it was just blank. I decided to dl double twist and it gather all my track info. After that Apollo started working.
I know you're running cm10 but I thought this might be helpful

Well for some reason those same songs are showing "Unknown artist" in those programs too. But the tags are perfect when I copy them from my PC. I'll try re-writing the tags for those songs and see what happens.
Might be a bit late in responding though, as I just started law school and am swamped with reading.
Does anyone know where I can find the latest version of Music Junk? Mine just keeps saying "Network Error" and all the searches I have done are really old posts. Can someone help me please???
Looks like it might be gone for good since the Facebook and Twitter page has been pulled....
I've been wondering the same, but I guess it really is finally gone for good... which blows because it was the best app for downloading music, hands down.
After posting my last, I installed Music Junk 4.3 on my phone again and opened it immediately to try it out again. I searched for music and it actually worked. I downloaded a couple of songs and everything, but then it stopped working after trying another search. Not sure what this means, but hopefully something positive...
Can you post a link for 4.3? I couldn't find it anywhere. I found other versions, but not that one. Pretty Please?
I have this problem with 4.3 I also tried to uninstall & reinstall. I tried 4.2 as well with no luck. This is typical of them when they change versions, but I haven't seen a 4.4 version out there...

But the more important question is are you getting 4.3 to work? Seems like most of us are getting "network error" on any searches.
I have a 4.3, but it's not like it's doing me any good.

I did last night, randomly... decided to install it again and try it. The first search worked and I was able to download several songs. After that, no such luck. I've been getting network error ever since.
I remember long time back (HTC hero days) music junk used to have some files, that used to pull data from these music websites, that used to get outdated. hence, the new versions would have the new files and we would not get the network errors...
If we can get a developer to look into some recent music junk versions and look into the changes made, we might be able to get it working again.

The thing is that music junk was the only app that showed the bitrate of each song. And it worked! The quality of songs was amazing.
The thing is that there is a very easy fix for this Network error... We just need a developer to look into it.

I agree, with Rolle you are at the mercy of whatever is available bit rate wise. I have had good results so far, sometimes CD 44.1 quality or near, sometimes its complete crap. Just throwing out there for a suggestion to hold you over! I agree and hope a developer can modify music junk as necessary.

My worst nightmares have come true. Music junk hands down the best music app without an overly stupid gui, has bitrate info, and the largest music selection.
I'm seriously debating getting back into java programming to make it work again... but soo much work
Samsung Galaxy S3 // tapatalk
Anybody know of an alternative method of downloading free music, I haven't paid for music in three years thanks to music junk.

I think it's a done deal, guys. Anytime the servers went offline & we waited on a new version,I was still able to download on mj ver3.0.that is the only version that would work all the time even when the newer current ones would come network error. Needless to say, 3 isn't working anymore.
No way 4.3 was working for me this month now i get network error why i love this app. Any one know if there is an update like 4.4 or am alternative app out there?
I'm using v 3.0.4, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The trick is i have to press search a few times, i get the "network error'' the first tries but eventually it loads the search page. I get the error far more times when im using the network than through wi fi. But once it goes through i click on the song and downloads on the first try.
Hi there, proud new owner here, a tiny bit dissapointed with washed out colours /Im coming from an unbeatable amoled screen of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7/ and not being able to sync my Jawbone Up /did anyone manage to find a solution for that?/, but my main problem is facebook messenger crashing. Does that happen to any of you? I¨m C6833 14.2.A.0.290. THANKS!
Oh, I think it actually might be due to a microphone not working properly, I am on UK C6833 with the lates firmware update. Just run the device test and it is showing me that "microphone failed" every time, also attempted some recordings and there's no sound. Does anyone else have a problem with mic? Should I have it replaced?

AFAIK, the device test tests the hardware connection itself as well as drivers etc, so if it's failing I think it's a hardware issue. I'd get it fixed on warranty if I were you. Who's your network?

I'm on Three UK, phone from Ebay...tu du dun duuunnnn...But alas, I've found out now, that it is only the facebook messenger app that messes up the microphone. It goes disconnecte and won't come back up until the reboot only when I attempt a voice recording through facebook messenger. Tried older version of messenger too to no avail. Hmmmm, mindboggling.

Have you tried Skype? I mean, you could try it and see if it works there (do a test call), and if it does, it's clearly something with the messenger app and not the hardware.
And, this thread should be in the Q&A section and not general.

EDIT: Fine, i'll install it and see if it works.

Facebook or more Apps problem with bootloader unlocked Sony Xperia Z Ultra (C6806)
After factory reset my beloved C6806 (Sony Xperia Z Ultra ) and unlocking the bootloader through the Sony official unlocking procedure, I found my Facebook, Gmail, SMS and more apps started failing to run. Especially Facebook app, it just worked once after fresh installation. After restarting the phone, the Facebook app was no longer work. The screen kept flashing several times and then exited. I was never able to make it work again.
The only way to reviving the Facebook app was through clearing data in the app (Settings>Apps>Facebook>Clear Data). However, It required login to Facebook again then worked until the phone restarting. The same symptom repeats again, again and again. I am so frustrated because the problem of instability then extended to more apps. I had also tried to install Messenger or old version of Facebook App but there was no luck at all to solve the problem. The phone started running unstable.
I originally planned to install a custom ROM and root the phone in order to resolve the problems. In that moment, I had an idea and guessed that the problems might be caused by the bootloader. The I use Flashtool and lock the bootloader.
Wow La .................. All the problems are solved and no more problem existed.
If you have the same problem with Sony smartphone and the phone is bootloader unlocked, please try to relock the bootloader again. It may solve most of your problems.
Additional note: Some people have mentioned the problem of Xperia For Facebook. This is the hint for me to think about the source of problem coming from the bootloader. Sony's default apps have a habit to check the bootloader status of the phone before running like FOTA Update. No more update is avail for those unlocked bootloader Xperia smartphones. So do not use Official ROMs if you want to unlock bootloader. (However, many apps will stop running with custom ROMs like bank apps or Google Pay.) Please install custom ROMs with unlocked bootloader Xperia smartphone. Do not keep using the Official Version ROMs because this will be your beginning of nightmare.

........calm down. You can't base your conclusion on that vague investigation.
Stock rom is so old and abandoned sony haven't added anything new to it like blocking facebook.
Yes some app developers are starting to block access to rooted devices is different ways.
There is no signs that facebook ie microsoft is blocking rooted devices yet.
But recently google is implementing only a simple block so you cant download the app from play store. But you can simply install the apk manually.
You should try something else first. Like flashing a stock rom ftf. Wiping the whole phone after the unlock including internal storage and sdcards. Even if unlocking wipes the phone.
