If you have not backed up your EFS folder than not many will be able to help you..
I am afraid SC is the next best option..

no option to rebuild my efs ?!?
this method couldnt help me ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997&page=24
i just need to find this CSC drivers to use QPST but cant find them

This is why you should keep your phone stock if you don't no what your doing if you get your phone sorted leave it stock or back-up

im still hope that maybe someone could help with that
im belive there is a way to rebuild again EFS somehow :crying:

If you dont mind me asking, can you explain what did you do or what ROM did you install ?

Looks like there's nothing you can do if you don't have a backup of the EFS folder, next step would be taking it to a Samsung repair centre. :good:

Which Rom ? I think this happening when a developer build its Rom from branded version.
Also some developers build Rom without device ...very unsafe

That cannot be true as IMEI has been a problem for some users since stock SGS1 .
That is why back up your EFS folder was a headline sticky .
Their is no difference in branded version OS and i doubt if branded has ever been used as its never released until some time after stock .
Show me a firmware built on a branded rom please .

Since its trying to install the CDC driver, it sounds like you have an Exynos based i9300 not Qualcomm, so that method will not work for you.

people that build Roms without the device nearly always use beta testers to test the software, and if a particular Rom was causing efs problems it would quickly be locked down, so I think your statement is misguided and disrespectful to Rom creators to imply what you did, just my humble opinion

i cant be sure on what i really did ...
and from what or which roms , i've download 10+ tyoes of roms , play little bit , after all those chances , just tried to return stock , and relize that im not connected to my mobile operator.

BS!! Since you're not providing us any useful information about your phone, model, location or operator, we cannot help you. In addition I think your phone is stolen, and this kind of post risks getting closed really damn fast! Your IMEI should be on your box and inside your phone... You should also know exactly what model you have, before posting here...given that you have several years of experience with smart phones! If you did indeed obtain your phone in a legal way, you should be able to just return it to your service center and they should be able to fix it for you, for a small sum of money, that I'm sure you'd be willing to spend if you indeed already spent hundreds of Euro-equivalents on your phone!
In any case, if you are on a US carrier, here and here are the instructions on how to properly "backup" and fix your IMEI...

If you dont have any EFS backup than NOTHING ON XDA forum will work. I have tried ALL of them... Sorry for negative reply but it is my experience, which might not be same for you... There is always a hope...

[Q] [Help] Phone is showing No Service!

Hi there,
problem as follows: I got a I9300 (pre-rootet and with some kind of chinese custom rom based on 4.0.4). I did not put in my simcard, but flashed it straight away with a 4.1.1 custom rom, and did the efs backup.
However, once I put in my simcard it shows no service. I have tried several roms and just restored stock recovery and stock firmware 4.1.1 but nothing has changed.
i have checked this threat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080076 and others, but still my phone is not having service.
I don't think that my efs partition is corrupted since when I type in those keycodes it still shows my imei. also I did a restore of my backed up efs.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

It looks like what I am looking for. However, I cannot find the files they are using
I'll keep looking... thanks
Update:
I have asked the person who gave the phone to me, and apparently it was a parallel import to china. However, I have no idea where it is from originally.
I have tried flashing a couple of different stock roms, but without success.
I have also tried to flash the chinese rom from the suggested thread, but it keeps failing when it comes to the part where it wants to install the modem.
Does anyone have an idea how to find out the origin of the phone?
I have tried Kies, entering the model number and serial, but kies does not accept the serial.
My last hope would be that I can find out which market it is from, then flash back the original stock firmware?
Any other ideas why it might show no service?
IMEI is shown, so I think efs partiotion should be still ok, right?
I'd really appreciate any help and suggestions. I am out of ideas...
Thanks

IMEI is shown as on sticker.
I have no idea where the phone is originally from - I have contacted Samsung but they were not willing to help- they say it has not been bought in NZ so they cannot help me here. Hence I dont know which modem would be the correct one. I have tried a couple of different ones, but none seems to be working.
Sim is ok, also tried like 5 other sim cards.

That's what I read in other forums now as well.
The error seems to be common after unlocking with boxes.
So I suspect that someone unlocked the phone, which messed up the efs folder. The backup I made when I received phone, must already be faulty.
I also noticed that the SN in the phone settings shows up as a different number than the one on the sticker.
I guess I have to find someone with those 'boxes" who knows what he is doing Any suggestions for Auckland, NZ?
I have been to like 5 shops but noone could help so far... THANKS

Thanks, I had tried that. Kies doesn't recognize the SN. Strangely enough SN in settings and SN on sticker are not the same. I really think seller screwed with the efs partition.
Was it working with the original Rom?
From my reading of your posts you have not changed the modem or csc that it came with?
Perhaps if you tried a 4.0.4 Rom again you might have some luck given it was probably working when you received it.
The different serial numbers are suspicious though. Presumably the one on the sticker is the correct one. Would Samsung not be able to identify the phone by the SN and tell you what the original firmware is?

When I received the phone it was not working. Hence I installed stock rom. I also tried flashing different modems, but nothing helped.
I contacted Samsung service and they said they wouldn't be able to help me because I did not purchase the phone in the country where I live in, and also cannot give me any information about where the phone was originally from.
It possible that is an imei block. If the phone is sold with a subscription and the owner sell it to an other prson without paying anymore the taxes for the phone the operator is able to block your phone using the imei.

As bought origins unknown .
Non working may be faulty and not fixable .
May have been as said blocked as its a stolen phone .
If it is I9300 then i would be flashing stock ICS firmware with modem and CSC for the country/network you are trying to use the phone on .At least then after a successful flash their can only be two reasons for not working phone hardware or IMEI .

IMEI is ok. I also called my network provider to check if IMEI is blacklisted in my country, but say also say it's not blacklisted.
Someone told me (and I also read it on other forums) that this often happens after unlocks, which are actually not successfully finished.
I will meet him tomorrow and will post an update.
Thanks for the suggestions and help so far.
Ok last update:
Indeed the phone is unlocked and something went wrong with it. Apparently, it is a common thing that the IMEI changes during unlock and then has to be restored, which often causes that problem.
The guy who helped me got it fixed. Only problem is now that I cannot flash the modem file. So have to stick with roms which come without modem. Also it seems that some are incompatible with the 'old'modem
Right now I am using AOKP and everything is working.
Thanks again for all the help and suggestions!

hi can someone close this thread issue has been sorted flashed ee stock rom and got imei back lol
thanks though
wait a minute thats not a good sign, So your saying that you lost your Imei and that QCN backup did not work?
The only thing that worked was flashing a stock rom back... this is not in the guide lol HMMmmmmm
I am just thinking why that QPST tool would not work when it should of or shouldnt it, did you use it correctly??? Can you try do the same thing as you did before and see if it you are able to restore it over your imei now? If it works now then maybe it wont work if theres no IMEI when thats the time we really need it to work.....Maybe Lyriquidperfection can comment?
ChwadKs can you try that QPST tool again and do EXACTLY what you did when you lost your imei. If it doesnt work AGAIN then thats a good sign for us as then it must be something wrong on your end or Hopefully you did it wrong which is why it didnt work. But if you do the exact same thing again but this time it works, then it may be a bad sign for us

Messing up partitions can cause adverse effects like phone not being detected in QPST. Don't worry backups do work.

Try looking at the RIL. I9300 uses the Samsung RIL but the I9305 uses the Qualcomm RIL. So you will need to alter the Rom to reflect this and you will get baseband back!

No rom should ever mess with the IMEI. Also with the proper backups you should not have to worry about it.
You can share ways to trouble shoot it happening but no, no tools or how to will be allowed.

Sir, this "should" is a very interesting word. Yes, no ROM should.. but there are ROMS and I am a victim of such a problem. Forget everything else when I myself am victim of XOLO Q800 Stock ROM which fails to recognise my IMEIs every single time as that needs to be pushed by SP Flash Tool.
The more interesting part is - so far as I have tried my luck - Backup in CWM also fails every-single-time whenever I tried to recover. However, this has helped me build a practice of backing up my ROM every Sunday (but for what?).
Now please tell me how can a noob user like me benefit from such a great resource like XDA in a case like this? For everything else, Yes, I do love XDA since 2008 ever since I joined as it is indeed an unparalleled resource.
I wish 'admin' gets my point, if not what I said in words. Please accept my sincere thanks for that in advance.

See here is the issue. Editing the IMEI in any way is illegal in most of the world and in so such, no threads about editing the imei are allowed on xda. My advise would be to search other forums on this. Other then formatting the whole device and flashing a stock ROM. That is the only advise I can give you. After reading this I researched it a bit my self and seems devices with this chipset are known to have this issue.

[Solved]IMEI has changed, No Network, No Phone Calls (Any Suggestions?)

My IMEI was 353************** and changed to 0499901********. So I am not able to make any phone calls right now.
I have no idea how it happened. I am flashing ROMS for 8 months. I have no EFS backup because i didn't know how much important it was [I AM REALLY STUPID ]
I know 049999**** is a test imei. In every forum there is a solution for SGS / SGSII. There are things for SGS3 but threads are very old like 5-6 months ago and they don't work...
I've tried installing softwares called NsPro or Samsung Tools. But I know they need some special stuffs and they are not free..
I've tried stock roms, modified Roms, kernels, modems after this happened.(Yesterday i was on 4.2.2 now 4.0.4)
So i gave up
Is there any suggestions? Any help way ? Because if I can't find any solution until tomorrow, I'll give the phone to technical service and i don't like it.
Last time I gave my phone to the service it took 25 days and they changed the motherboard with new IMEI (Nokia C7)
And the most important question : Can I update my phone if technical service fixes it? Android 4.2.2 original firmware or 4.3 , 5.0 in the future?
Sorry for bad English.I live in Turkey,Istanbul if there is anyone who can contact me.
Thanks!

If you have no backup there is nothing you can do. Return to stock. If still an issue, needs sending for repair.

Get your phone's mother board replaced.
That's the only way out

Good your issue was resolved. It is always bettwe to keep a back up of efs folder. nv_data_bin would have corrupted which restored on another flash of ROM and you are lucky. Most of the time flashing an unsuitable kernel would lead to this problem.
