Hi
I ran out of battery while using my lumia 800. I tried connecting to both PC and Laptop and it just vibrates without booting. Kept it charging for hours , but still it wont boot up. If I press and hold power button it just vibrates. Just the black screen and no Nokia or the battery symbol.... Tried soft as well as hard reset but it wont work too. If I plug in the device it gets detected as some Qualcomm CDMA device. Tried this guide but the phone wont get detected in Nokia Care suite as well... and I dont have the original Lumia charger with me as well.. so charging only from the original USB cable
Any help / pointers would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Send it for service if its in warranty they may repair it.
I guess its a problem with your screen. But you should give it to the store.

it is a developer device and I really doubt I will get any replacement... Thanks for the help though
Though I strongly feel , it is not a screen issue. Any other ideas?
Thanks

I searched on Nokia's website and found out many people had the same problems. Turns out that you will have to use an original wall charger by Nokia for Lumia 800 to charge it as it has a higher ampere rating than most wall chargers.
As you have completely drained your battery you will have to charge it without trying to boot it for maximum two hours. Most peoples phones started working after this.
Hope for the best.

The Lumia 800's charger is 1A. Most modern smart phone chargers are the same so just make sure you are using one of that rating or maybe even higher (I think the 710 charger is 1.2A).

It could also be a cable problem. Be sure you get the charger together with an original usb-cable.

This is because emptying the battery you must remain connected to the PC and try from time to time on appuier volume down + camera button + power button getting started one reinitialization of the factory default
Warning: the method of the buttons will cause the loss of all data
Try this!
Quoted from discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/My-Lumia-800-won-t-turn-on-anymore/td-p/1282979
You can connect the Lumia to the original charger or connect it to a PC using the supplied USB cable. In that case make sure Zune is running on the PC.

Does it turn on in Qualcomm mode? If not you should visit the store where you bought it for a replacement or contact Nokia for a repair.

Is it charged? You can leave it on the Default charger included with the Lumia (and the correct cable) for a few hours. If this wont work you have to ask for a replacement device/repair. Keep in mind that you have to do a hard reset after flashing.

If it doesn't react at all when plugging into computer och wall socket, then it sounds like You're in big sh*t
However: Read somewhere that someones 800 was bricked, but left into the charger overnight and suddenly revived.
That was before the interop unlock days though, and of course there's a big risk in bricking the phone when modding and flashing.

Connect the phone to a wall outlet and leave it for 2-3 hrs to charge, then, try to connect it to ur computer. If u can, do a reflash process, and hopefully that will help.
Well I plugged it in. It looked like it was charging for a moment then after a couple of minutes, it went to the black nokia screen...

This Phone requires a charger that is capable of putting out 2 amps. Standard generic chargers do one amp at best. You must use the wall charger that came with the phone if the phone completely dies. The wireless charger will not work if you allow the battery to completely die at which time you must use the provided charger the phone came with.
Solution Found!
You need the Nokia Software Updater for Retail to flash the latest firmware to your Nokia phone. There are many website that advertise this software but all of the ones I have found require registration or the downloading some additional software.
You can download the working retail version 2.0.6 (I am not allowed to post the link, but try jkorondy period com forward slash Lumia920) -- without registration and without any additional garbage software. It will update itself to 3.0.4 (or the most current version). I have run it on Windows 8 and Windows 7, connected to my unlocked Lumia 920 (RM-821_apac_philippines_388) and it works great. Firmware updated and it hasn't shut down since!
Same problem with Lumia 620
Hi my Nokia Lumia 620 too has died. I used to charge the phone with PC by connecting via USB cable provided by Nokia. One day it simply went dead. It would switch on show the Nokia Logo and the low battery sign after that blank. I went to Nokia care the same day and after 1-2 Hours they said its IC has to be repaired which costs about half the price of the phone. I refused it for the time being till I get a better solution than that and also now it wont even show the Nokia logo.It just vibrates when press the power button. The only thing I could think of that would have caused the problem is voltage fluctuations at my location. But still didn't think it would be much of an issue since I used to charge via PC only. Any kind of help would be great!! Else will be dropping it by the Nokia Recycle center.

Use the wall charger that came with the phone... If it is completely dead it requires 2 amps to charge and the PC cannot supply that kind of current nor can the wireless charger.

Maybe the only thing to try at the moment would be the old battery drain technique... Usual means is to tape down the power button and wait days and days until it is dead, really dead ( shows nothing when connected to computer), then connect to wall charger and reboot and see what you get. This is really the ultimate "hard reset" but same result can be obtained far more quickly by removing the back and disconnecting the battery for a while to remove residual charge... Not as frightening or difficult as it might seem, have done it loads of times for various faults and to replace batteries in several tabs.

If you're trying to discharge by taping down power button just leave the tab on it's own not plugged into anything... Plugging into something that charges rather defeats the object of the exercise

In some cases it takes more than a day, be patient... Unless you are prepared to remove the back and unplug battery... The aim of the game is to completely power down the tab and remove residual charge in components, the "hardest" reset available.... So, two ways to achieve that is drain battery or disconnect battery... If you drain battery you must be sure it's empty to achieve desired effect then you obviously cannot restart it without charging a bit as the battery is empty, so you connect charger then try to boot, but the tricky bit is being sure the battery is completely drained otherwise you are just wasting your time... That is why battery disconnect is preferable

Many Thanks to You stinky73
I had to purchase an iFixIt repair kit to get the correct driver to remove the two screws. I disconnected the battery, waited ten minutes and when I reconnected I was SO HAPPY to see the battery charging icon. I charged for a while a fired up the tablet. Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

It took me longer to remove the screws then anything. I stripped them and will need to replace them. I tried a regular screwdriver before the tri-wing screw driver and paid dearly in time. Once the two screws were removed, use a plastic pry tool starting on the bottom where the screws are because once the bottom and sides are pried lose, the top will slide over the extended audio jack.
1.5 hours to remove stripped screws
10 minutes to pry open
1 minute to disconnect battery (did not remove battery or three data cables on top of battery)
10 minutes wait for discharge
3 minutes to re-connect battery cable (it slides forward and snap down)
2 minutes to replace case

Forgive the gravedigging, but I am unable to find anything regarding my situation, and the original poster has a problem that is similar to mine (my thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52931715 ). I hope someone is able to give me a hand here!
I am wondering, it has been over 15 minutes since I disconnected the battery completely, but connecting the P7500 to my laptop still shows an APX device being connected. Could there be some hardware issue preventing the device from being fully discharged?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I've got the same issue as Lightside and the original poster. Mine is a GT-P7500, which had CM10 nightly ROM with CWM recovery. I sold it on eBay, but before selling, I wiped the tablet and got it back to the Clockworkmod main screen. I turned it off completely and shipped it to the buyer, ready for it to be registered by the new user.
The buyer received the tablet and from the e-mails I received from him in the first couple of days, all was going well. Then, a couple of days later, he sent me an e-mail saying that the screen shows the android lying on its back with "Odin download" mode showing. A day later, he sends me a messaging saying that he can't turn the tablet on at all. The guy who bought it is an old man and didn't know much about fixing the issue. I asked him whether he powered the tablet off while still plugged in to the wall charger and he confirmed that he did. I asked him to return it to me and I can try and fix it, so now, I have the tablet back and it won't turn on. Here's what is happening:
1. I drained the battery using the cellotape method
2. Installed the NVflash drivers
3. Waited for the battery to drain (almost 9 days and the LED flash stopped blinking, so assumed it was completely drained)
4. Plugged it in to the PC and it immediately showed up again as a device under the USB controllers within Device Manager
5. I then unplugged the battery by opening the back of the tab, left it for 15 mins, then tried the wall charger again, but nothing. No charging icon on the screen.
When I try to press the power button, I can see the LED light up, but the screen is still blank.
Could this be a hardware issue and if so, what do you think could have caused it?
Could really do with some help here, folks! I don't want to have to give the buyer a refund because technically, he got it when it was in working condition and he probably did something to screw it up, but since he's an old man, I thought I'd try and help him, if I can.

i have a GT-7500 ,i used the original firmeware,it's the same issue,drain battery method not working,somebody help?
Hi all.
I have a Nokia Lumia 800 which one evening I was powering off. The next moment I tried to turn it on, it appeard to be stuck in a boot loop or something. It vibrates for two seconds, then after a few seconds, a short vibration comes. This will go on in some kind of loop.
Don't know if the bootloader is trying to get the main FW up and running, without succeeding.
The local smartphone repair centre was trying a new battery and a new screen without getting it on. They simply wrote in their report "mainboard dead".
They did not have the possibility of flashing the FW.
Obviously the phone has some corrupt firmware and it needs to be reflashed.
Here is what I've tried:
I downloaded the Nokia care suite but it seems it does not support flashing a dead Lumia.
I also tried Nokia Software recovery tool, but it cannot connect to the phone - sometimes reporting "cannot read device" and sometimes "the phone is not supported"
I'm running Windows 7 and my PC. Does it perhaps require WinXP?
What can I do?
Thanks in advance, really appreciate it!
EDIT: I tried to follow the guide in this forum how to flash it with Nokia Care Suite, using RM-817 instead of RM-801.
But it seems I don't have the productfolders in this guide containing RM-801. Please help!!

Okay, check this out:
First alternative, try a soft reset:
1. Turn off your Lumia, and press Volume Down + Power button until the phones vibrates and restart
Second alternative (you will lose all your content on the Lumia), try a hard reset:
1. Press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Camera key simultaneously until you feel your phone vibrates, then release the Power key and continue to hold the Volume Down and Camera key for a further 5 seconds.
Now your phone should start to return to the factory default settings
Last alternative (you will lose all your content on the Lumia), Chimeratool:
1. Try to install Chimeratool (https://chimeratool.com/downloads) on your computer, and make a trail account
2. Turn off your Lumia, then connect via USB, while pressing Volume Up
3. Try to click on "Factory reset modem"
Good luck!
Would you believe it, the chimeratool fixed my Lumia 800 !!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH Youngboy.
I didn't thought it was possible to save the Lumia without a J-TAG gadget or something.
Doing this by pure USB connection is pure magic.
And the phone kept all my personal stuff, pictures, contacts and so on. Great!
Again, thank you very much!!
My phone has the exact same symptoms, but even after doing anything you suggested it still does not turn on.
Is there anything else I could try or should I consider it gone for good?
hi guys, i installed the Rainbowmod on my lumia 800, it seems to work properly but one week ago i forgot to charge the phone.... and when i tried to charge again whit charger plug in, no battery red icon appear on display...so i decided to start the phone and it begin with this strange loop... i pressed start button on the phone and it vibrates for 2 second then after a few second a short vibration come but the phone not boot..

I have exactly the same problem on my Lumia 800 (RM-801), that my Lumia won´t start when my battery is completely discarge by putting it in the charging cable. My solution is to first put the charging cable in the Lumia, and lett it charge for around 45 minutes. Then take the chargingcable out. Hold the power for around 15 second. Then release it. And hold it again.

in my case when the battery is completely discharge i put the phone in charge (when i plug the cable charges phone vibrates for 2 sec and 1 sec), no display battery red icon appear on it so i leave it charge usually for 5/10 Min then after i disconnect charger, press start for 2 sec and the phone boot... note: with official firmware WP 7.8 the boot sequence is ok but i think that little problem is a good compromise for have installed rainbowmod on my lumia ;D
Hi all,
My phone cut out at about 10% battery charge earlier and wouldn't turn back on. I thought it was probably just bad battery stats. But now I'm home, even after an hour on charge (and 30 mins on another charger) the phone won't turn on. It also shows up as an unrecognised device in device manager.
Whats weird is that when I first plug the charger in, rather than seeing the blue battery logo, I see an unfamiliar green battery logo as attached.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? (Tried booting with the volume up and volume down buttons held)
It's also come at quite a frustrating time, I may not be able to reply until Sunday night as I'm off camping in the sticks for the weekend.
Thanks
Plug your charger and Try to keep holding the power button for 1 min.....maybe start

Sadly that didn't work.
The battery appears to now be taking a charge (300mA/h according to a USB multimeter), but I haven't been able to even get SP flash tools to recognise the handset sadly.

That is the conclusion I'm coming to, sadly there doesn't seem to be a UK stockist of the battery yet, but I guess in the mean time I can see if the seller will honour any form of warranty on the product. For now, I'm back on my old G3 and it doesn't even begin to compare. I loved my Elephone.
Bad luck my friend.....I have a samsung galaxy 2 and one day run out of battery and never awake again....weird things
I think it should be cover with warranty.....Is one year in China
Type a email to Elephone support and they must be assist you because the phone is less than one year in the marketing.
I hope you will have a possitive news from Elephone
Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on.
I have the same problem a while ago with the green thing logo while charging , I even try it on wireless charger but it has the same thing with the green logo of battery ...but luckily it charge normally with blue logo
I have seen this on my screen a few times when I ****ed my bootloader during flashing. Device ended up being semi-bricked. I could not flash via SPtools because my device didn't get recognized. I was able to fix it luckily!
Hi all, sorry for the delay in responding.
So, the first problem was the battery. You need to charge it beyond 3.8v I think to get the phone to turn on, probably better to get it to 4v so you have enough charge stored to use the phone. The phone can't charge the battery below a certain threshold (around 3.7v) so you have to remove the battery and use a lithium-ion battery charger (any phone battery charger), these are available for about £2 on ebay.
In my phone the USB port had also stopped working for data transfer. I tried changing the board with the USB port on to no avail.
I replaced everything but the screen in the end to get it working.
Are/were you on stock OS or had you replaced it with another rom? Just for a bit more clarity of the problem.
