Well, today I tried to download a file on my 2g network and when it was 52% complete, suddenly my 2g network signal has disappeared and download interrupted and failed.
So now, I need suggestions from my dear xda friends for a browser or a download manager where the downloads gets paused when suddenly network signal disappears and I should be able to resume it.
Thanks.

I used maxthon in the above case.
If we tap restart it starts downloading from beginning.

When download gets interrupted, it gets started from the beginning when we resume it again.
But blazer and Crystal download are so fast.

I was thinking the possibility of those app to replace the stock download manager apk in system/app and make it flashable cwm. Which of these app will able to do the job?

Whether the file resumes from where it was interrupted or from the beginning totally depends on whether the file is resumable or not. Download managers don't have any scope here. Download Blazer works pretty good for me.

Hi. I'm running the BiWinning 2.2.1 ROM. I'm downloading a large file (0.97GB) from fileserve, so I just set up the download and put my phone aside. The first few times I got a message saying the download failed, and I thought this is fine since reception is spotty in my area at times. So after a couple of tries, the download is now just disappearing; no download failed message, nothing at all :S. I thought maybe I'm out of space, but I have enough space on my internal SD card and on my external. The download is going to the internal SD by default. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
obvious question... can you not download it to a pc and move it via usb cable?
do you not have wifi?
if you have astro, go to preferences and select to download internet files.. that helps me with downloads.
I'm downloading using my phone because I have a limit to the amount I can download per month on my home's internet connection, so I want to use my phone's unlimited plan. I know you use Astro to enable downloading files when you get the "File type unsupported" error, but I don't think it'll help with my problem. The download starts, but when I check later on it disappears.
have you tried any other browser not just stock

Either that or your rom default task killer might be.
I've downloaded several gigs on my phone so I know it's possible.
Try the Miren browser on the market.
Edited. Sorry, i read it wrong.

Oh dang that's right, I forgot about that!
Settings, wifi, manage wifi, press menu button , advanced, wifi policy.
Edit...you're still right though, because my wifi sometimes turns off even if my screen is on while wifi policy was to turn off
I'm downloading using 3G, so it's not the wifi cutting out.
It might be the ROM's task killer, I can't tell though. I tried downloading with firefox, but my connection cut out both times after a while. I was at 0.9GB/1GB in my download through the normal browser right now and it disappeared
The ROM I'm using is Bi-Winning V1. Is there anyway I can fix this?
Hi! I bought these two amazing games (racing & getaway) over the market 10 billion offers for 10cents, but I'm having problems installing them: Neither of them will download the data files!
I thought maybe it was the polarbit servers were being hammered by the downloads, but it's been 3 days and I'm still unable to even start the download. So I attempted using my mobile network. Which is something most of you would have attempted already. But in my case...my network is limited to EDGE/GPRS connection. Which means the fastest speed I can get is around 90~100kbps on the good days. Just to make it clear, that is somewhat 11KB/s. VERY slow.
So today I tried this network to see how that worked. And it works! Its just, that at this pace, I might need a whole uninterrupted week to download the data files, and I'm afraid as soon as for some reason the download stops (changing window, for example?), I will have to restart it.
So...Do you know of any possible reason for the game to ONLY download under the mobile network? I'm using my home WIFI, and as far as I know there shouldn't be any problem.
Thank you!

Do you get some error saying that? Doesn't make any sense, i downloaded it just fine over wifi.
Yeah I know it sounds weird. Now I've left the game downloading for half hour on my super slow connection, but I think the red progress bar didn't even reach 5%.
Also, today when I attempt to download over wifi, after somewhat 30 seconds or one minute, I get an error message "Download Failed, please verify you have a working wifi connection", or something like that. Wifi works perfectly for anything else, and as far as I know, there's no kind of cap or limit.
I have the View and will never use the cell network. When checking battery status it shows Cell Standby using 67% battery. I've searched for this, but many of the sol'ns could brick the device as they suggest renaming services. Anyone find a sol'n to disabling the cell Standby?

I do the same. Battery life went through the roof after I started using airplane mode.
I tried this but Cell Standby was still showing @ 67%. Is it just a matter of turning airplane mode on and then starting WiFi again.

Yes. Turn airplane mode on, and then turn WiFi on/off as you need it. It will take a little while (possibly a few days depending on how often you charge) for Cell Standby to completely disappear from battery use since the system calculates that based on usage since a full charge. Cell Standby doesn't even show up on mine at all since airplane mode completely turns off the cellular radios.
Just turning off mobile data isn't enough for the View. Even with mobile data off, you can still see signal bars in the notification bar/navigation bar. It's designed to be able to receive text messages as well, so short of tinkering with some of the system files or installing a custom rom, airplane mode is the easiest way of making sure there are no cellular radios active at all.
If you're rooted, flash this from recovery:

anycut to turn off radio.
Download anycut from the market. Run it and choose "new shortcut" then "activity". Scroll way down and choose "testing". This is a debugging app.
You now have a shortcut to "testing" on your home screen. Launch it and press the "turn off radio" button.
you have to turn off the radio after every reboot since rebooting turns the radio on again... but once you have the shortcut.. its easy.

I finished the GB to HC S-Off and rooted etc. Will this kill the 3G/4G radios completely so we don't have to run airplane mode? I will be only using WiFi period for my Evo View.

Yes, more info please!
This disables cellular radios without needing airplane mode?
is it reversable?
I would guess it is, likely either a new flashable file or restore your backup. Oh well this is perfect for my needs. Thanks Globaltron.
The method regarding Anycut is PERFECT! After a few hours, I can already see the improvement in battery life. Thanks again!

What with megaupload and it's brethren blasted off the internet, this link is dead...as are so many other valuable assets to the modding community... can it get re-uploaded somewhere?
And, peripherally, isn't there a better place for hacks like this than file locker sites? recipes for gadget tweaking seem un-assailably non-infringing enough, and it seems like stashing such items in github or dropbox would be a better means of sharing and collaborating...

Incidentally, if I'm not subscribed to a data plan, is there ever *ANY* reason to not have the radio turned off?
Like, for instance, does being able to see cell towers improve GPS fix time, or do you need data service to get the tower locations?

If you are using the OTA, I found that the cell modem had to be on to see the updates.
Also, the cell towers will provide location information to Google Maps & Etc. I turn it on for this purpose only, otherwise I'm on WiFi.

Time to smile...I have a solution.
U have to use select 3G/4G sim for use of internet...
Must important is you must use data sim which is configure at the first run when you installed the game.
Eg. After installing MC5 I use sim card 1 for data and it's working but if I use sim 2 for data than the game shows "please check your internet connection" and than back to sim 1 data...it's working.
Still not working. Uninstall the game and format your phone. After installing choose your permanent Data sim you want to play mc5 with data connection.
Only mc5 work in first run configuration sim card, doesn't matter sim 1 or sim 2
Modern combat 5 100% fix
Hey everyone
I stopped playing MC5 because of the no internet connection error. It's been months since I've played.
Easy fix below.
Open settings
Go to network
Disable mobile network
Turn on Wi-Fi
Disable Wi-Fi calling
Open the app
Once the app is open it will ask you to login to Google play. Click the user name you have or add one. After that you will receive three emails in the app. All the emails will let you know the your profile has been update and the last level you played has been downloaded. Then your done:
I found a solution of this finally. I was laughing after the trick??
Hey everybody, i got the same problem. Whenever i tried to play the game, After loading for more than a minute it said check your internet connection. I read every solution including removing sim cards but none of them worked because I was using a Wifi Connection. And just a minute ago, I solved the problem by myself. After doing the trick, i opened the game and i worked. I was really laughing after it. After wasting more than an hour on browsing google for answers. It was a simple trick posted nowhere on internet. Here's the trick:
In return of the trick, I want all of you guys to please subscribe my YouTube Channel. Name Usama Hashmi with about 600 subscribers and my pic in a school uniform . So go to the settings < Apps < Modern Combat 5 . And clear the cache. Don't clear data. Only clear cache. Then, open the game, check it, close it , subscribe my Channel, and continue your game. Don't laugh in the whole process. Just smile.

I simply removed all the VPN saved. It helped. But now I won't be able to connect to the internet at all. That's fine with me. You can try what the above user has suggested ...try to shut Location. See if it works.
Thanks.
I had this issue, turns out it was an app from the carrier that forces to connect through mobile data connection to check for status or something.
I just uninstall the app and use their mobile web instead, it's been fine since

thank u so much all of your suggestion i've done and successfull blocking any mobile data internet from my phone
and i added restriction app background data each running apps that consume internet through mobile data,:victory::victory:
During set up you are asked if you would like to allow apps to access to data even when turned off you need to un-check that option.
