Terminal Emulator Error please help - Android

I tried to download the eclipse-sdk from android terminal emulator... It went all the way to 98% then said no space left on device. I tried to delete by entering aptitude purge and aptitude autoclean and clean but this is the message I get now
[email protected]: /# aptitude purge
[ ERR] Reading task descriptions
E: Write error - write (28: No space left on device)
E: Couldn't write state file
[email protected]: /#
If anyone knows how to fix this can you guys please help me. I would be really grateful.
Oh I forgot. On my storage settings it says I have 411mb left. The eclipse-sdk is only 300mb. My sdcard has 6.82GB left on it to if this helps
?¿? its a mystery ¿?¿

You don't have enough space left on your device to run a purge, you are going to have to manually delete with the "rm" command. Seriously man the phone is not meant for this stuff.

Sure you can. There are ways for most things. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5haWRlLnVpIl0.
Even the link above gives you some abilities to do that.
I would think it would work better on a tablet though.

Working recovery with UI glitches

Hi,
I just realised that I'm going to post this, hopefully to get some help getting the frame buffer issue working. I'm not giving up on it, but it just doesnt seem fair to sit on this any longer since it works, besides the GUI glitches.
As i said before, the S7 kernel does not support framebuffering, which makes the GUI in the recovery a bitt messy. When you move up / down in the menu, it switches between selecting an item on top and an item on the bottom (you'll see 4 menus in total, but the ones on each horizontal line is a mirror).
This means that it starts by using the lower one, and it uses the top one next, then it goes back to the lower one. Boot it up and you'll probably see what I mean. This shouldnt cause any problems with the recoverys operation anyhow.
If you want to enter adb in linux you will have to get a copy of usb_modeswitch and run the following line in order to get adb to recognize the device:
sudo usb_modeswitch -W -v 12d1 -p 1031 -V 12d1 -P 1035 -M "5553424370ab71890600000080010a1106000000000000000 0000000000000" -s 20
This will switch the huawei s7 usb device into adb mode.
Also i take no responsibilites of bricks or other problems caused by using this recovery. Its truly for learning usage only.
My credit list would be to long if I where to include all forums that I've visited to get more information about this device, but if you feel like you deserve credit, let me know and i'll add you, otherwise, thanks to all people posting information about android devices, i could never have done it without you.
Ofcourse i have to thank the creators of clockwork mod, and also the people who wrote the repack-image.pl and unpack-image.pl scripts
Thanks to my wife who put up with me sitting and messing around with this for almost a week, giving her not the attention that she deserved, and thanks to all users of the S7 tablet out there.
h***://rapidshare.com/files/438781673/recovery.img.zip (not allowed to post links yet)
The shortcut key for entering recovery is menu + send, if anyone wonders.
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
Works great. Ill research a bit to see if i can help

Install Fedora on the ATP

Get the rootfs image:
Fedora 15: http://fedora.roving-it.com/rootfs-f15-hfp-alpha1.tar.bz2
Fedora 17: http://fedora.roving-it.com/rootfs-f17-hfp-alpha1.tar.bz2
unpack it to /data/local/fedora
unzip and copy the attached script to /data/local/bin/fedora and run it
If you create /mnt/sdcard inside the fedora root, your sdcard will be bind mounted there.
Wait what is fedora?

This should help.
It's a Linux distribution.. like Ubuntu..
Does this mean we can then VNC into it after turning the server on?
How much has been tested on it?
Sounds cool. Read up ln it a little as I wondered at first what it was also. THEY say it's good but the main drawback is the short lifespan and support of each version. AS they pump out new versions like every 6 months or so n support for it is one of the shortest. SO it makes it hard for developers to use since its not long term.
Plus I never knew there was like a million flavors of Linux..lol. not even funny how many different flavors there was while reading up on Fedora.
Wait, can we actually use fedora on the prime this way through a script? How is functionality? We can simply shut it down again or something...?
More details would be nice Might give it a try later if I know/understand more about it hehe.

Does it require root? What fedora is included, can we just yum update stuff?
I am actually unable to get this to work at all. Nevermind loading the files on the prime was nothing but an issue. IS there a proper method for loading fedora. im getting:
chroot: can't execute 'bin/bash': Permission denied
failed: invalid argument
failed: invalid argument

No matter where the fedora.sh file is i get the above messages in prompt

Im trying to install fedoa on a rooted tf201. Downloaded tar.gz2, attempted to extract to 'data/local/fedora' but i could not extract it. Anyone have any luck with fedora on the prime?
Fedora 17 alpha image: http://fedora.roving-it.com/rootfs-f17-hfp-alpha1.tar.bz2
This is interesting, I nee to RMA mine for a few issues and hold off on unlock/root until I get a satisfactory prime but I'm excited.
One this though I too heard about the short lifespans, is this a bad thing? I only ask because projectors in theaters run fedora so I would assume they must be ultra stable with the shortened lifespan of each release, unless they update after every release. Just interesting to me.
I have a functinal rooted tf201 with root, busybox, xorg (as far as I know) through Linux Installer, VNC Viewer, Terminal Emulator and OTA Rootkeeper. I have a fair amount of root & bash experience, so I'd be delighted to help the OP with writing a walkthrough of the VNC server-client process in the specific case of Yum based distros and Fedora's rootfs structure.

I view it as a bonus. You will find that at any time there are at least 2 versions being supported and although I use Ubuntu/Debian I would think that that Fedora enables users to upgrade from the previous to current version with a mouse click or two and 200Mb of downloads - just as easy as Windows but with more control (and bugs get fixed in hours!).

SOLVED - [Q] Get system info such as CPU, clock speed, GPU, RAM, storage, etc...?

Hi Everyone!
I am pretty new to Android Development but have a great app idea for the Play Store, one small part of it, requires me to get the device info such as CPU Speed, CPU Name, device model number, device manufacturer, RAM, storage on sdcard, and some other stuff like that.
My main concern is how would I get those things? I know some apps out there get that info already like Quadrant or Android System Info, but I don't want to decompile them.
So what is the best way you recommend to get those specs from the system and put it into an app variable.
I can't seem to find the correct forum to post this in so I apologize if it is in the wrong section as this doesn't have to do with ROM Dev.
Thanks!

This forum works fine, we use it for app questions as well. I would suggest you look into the Linux command line commands to perform those functions, and then look at what the /proc interfaces do in a Linux system.
Good luck.

I found online before this command just it doesn't really give me any useful info like cpu speed, it just gives the cpu type (ex: armv7) and the serial number/device ID. Here's the command: adb shell getprop | grep abi
I will look into more specific commands like that one though for RAM, storage, etc...
Also, how would I make the APP ITSELF run the command through Java? I know how to do it with adb shell just not in java...
Thanks!

Please don't use system binaries and run shell commands unless that binary is local to your application. Android has APIs to gather properties use that. Use Java to read files for information in /proc.
Local binaries will always change and will be different. Controlling everything through java logic is the best way to go.

[Q] Where did all my storage go?

Take a look at the screenshot below. If you add up the numbers you see that I'm missing about 15GB of storage space.
For the life of me I don't know where to look to find the missing 15gb. I don't mind missing a gig or two, but FIFTEEN? Wow!
Where do I start the investigation? I've looked and looked using File Manager Pro but can't find anything suspicious.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

The most common space-eater is nandroid backups - they can be quite large.
If you're rooted, you can tell what's eating your space using "du -sh /sdcard/*" from a shell prompt (via Terminal Emulator or "adb shell".

Grab "disk usage" from the market.
I've been pushing this app as if it were my own for the last year and still tons of people don't know about it.
Side note, for the du command to work you have to do "su" first.

Thanks for the tip. Great program. It shows me there's 14 gig in system data which can't be right. I'm thinking that this is a result of either multiple roms or TWRP. Check attached screen shot.
Where do I go from here?
I am having the same issue
month ago when I am using cwm i entered "partition" in "advance " manu .. and the back buttom disabled so i just resturt the SG-p7510 32G
after installin JB rom am surprised that my internal memory now is 28.1G Of 32G !!!!. actully I don't know what it should be but i tried to partition wit pit file and had many trublles like missing the Kernel so can't flash the rom and the other problem that i wasn't able to flash the rom from the odin and also the rom not in the sd so i had to send it using adb push. yesterday i tried to contact with samsung but the punish me and said that the warranty is violate after hacking the gt... tel now i don't know the solution of this or i don't know what is the maximum space, so i hope u can solve such thing and tell us how to doit
When opening disk usage, choose the "root required" option. Then select your storage device from that menu. Done select the first two because they don't ask for root.

I don't, so I wouldn't criticise anything
For those who do, please help and assist in any way
Testing, drivers, kernel, etc
I believe Ubuntu meant well when he is asking for any form of help from the community to help develop this
Whether he has passion for himself or the project or not , that's not appropriate to condemn or expect
Let's work together when we can, where we can
