I'm curious... Do you apply/wanna apply a lag fix because your device is actually lagging or is it just the thing to do nowadays? I ask because I have never found a need for one. The only lag I had on the Vibrant was when I first took it out of the box and even that was kinda tolerable. But as things are right now, I really don't see how my device could get any faster and if it could...why? Quadrant scores? What is the real advantage (if any) to having it? .02¢
Lag fix? Never have, never will!
High quadrant scores. Do you see the first thing most people mention when they install the lag fix?
"My quadrant score went from 200 to 2000!!!!!!!!" as if it was an indicator of actual performance.
No good, controlled tests have been conducted.
I don't use it. The one time I did, when it was included in the kernel with BLN, I had horrible battery life. Most people use it to get higher scores. The N1 would run circles around the Vibrant in terms of scores but when in real world testing, both devices are just as fast.
It's not just scores...
It makes your system a bit faster people nowadays do it without needing to and there's nothing wrong with that.
I run a lagfix and it has improved my speed and response.
Without making me lose any battery

Point taken, but looking at most of the threads in the Q&A section...it seems that the LF's do more harm than good, especially if you aren't too sure about what you're doing.
Lag fix? Never have, never will!
The lag fix circumvents RFS in many areas.
Galaxy S phones have terrible I/O performance. Notably Database Read/Writes and apps that work generally hit the storage often.
Run Touchdown on a Galaxy S phone without a lag fix and you'll see how sluggish that application runs due to RFS. The workaround is to move the database to the external SD Card (which results in frequent corruptions) or install a lag fix.
It also causes the phone to take an inordinate amount of time to boot up (Media Scanning... etc.) and lag randomly when applications sync and access the storage to write data. It lags when Installing and Uninstalling applications from the Android market as well.
If you think a Lag Fix is only to boost Quadrant Scores (those scores are bunk, anyways), then perhaps you're using a different phone in a Vibrant casing.
There are several applications littered with "laggy on my Galaxy S" in the market.
Also, there is a bug in the Samsung Android 2.1 kernel that breaks some applications. That's why there are apps popping up saying you need 2.2 on your Galaxy S phone to run them (Skype, Yahoo Messenger, etc.).
My Vibrant, both before and after JI6, was laggy to the point of not being usable - until I applied RyanZA's OCLF (I removed OCLF and tried voodoo but soft-bricked the phone in the process). I've never run the Quadrant score analysis - all I care about is usability of the phone, and after the OCLF was applied my phone became usable.
I tried Axura 2.0.x with no lag fixes and, while my phone was generally faster than JI6 pre-lag fix, it still suffered from lag in many user interactions (opening apps, launching email, reading individual emails, using gallery, etc.) I went back to stock + JI6 via ODIN, reapplied OCLF, and was happy again.
Are there different hardware revisions of the Vibrant that might account for the differences in user experience? I've seen many posts from users who claim they never had any lag or GPS problems, and many more (like me) who have been plagued with them.
Most of those users are fanboys and wouldn't admit it even if they fot one of those 5+ second lockups while making their post.

It's cause the phone is laggy. I don't usr lag fixes because I don't lile tampering with phones at the system level, regardless, but I have freezes several times a day and have even had my phone completely lock up on me a couple of times - requiring a battery pull.
The less services you have running, and the less apps that sync data runnimg, the less the lag is. The lag happens mostly when the storagr is used (background syncing can cause it, for example).
Yes, people with no twit/fb/reader apps/accounts setup, among other things may be totally fine depending on their usage.

It has made some apps actually usable.
Before the lag fix, the facebook app was basically unusable for me. Any action would have a 5-10 second pause before seeing a result.
Swipe to scroll, wait, click a picture, wait.
I think the facebook app was the worse for me because I did manual updates so every time I launched the app, it would be d/ling and writing while I was trying to scroll around and read stuff.
But in general, it has made my phone usable. Before I did the lag fix, I basically stopped using my phone because it got so annoying having to wait.
I've never run quadrant on my phone actually. I don't even really use root for anything. I did it primarily for the lag fix and the I changed my battery bar so that it's accurate. Everything else I'm happy with.
So, could this just be an issue that only certain phones have? Or, could some of it be mental? Like, if you hear enough ppl say that this is broken or that isn't working...you start to think that yours is broken also? I've never had an issue with gps...and I use foursquare and navigation on a regular basis. But everybody else seems to have broken gps.

hmm... I used a JFS lag fix for awhile, and it still hung slightly when syncing.
it did not seem better or worse really.
and the same thing happens on my mytouch so I think its just something that happens, lag fix running or not.
its really not that bothersome, but I do the same as you, I manually sync most everything.
I mean if I'm not looking at my facebook widget constantly, why should it be auto syncing?

I have 2 email account, syncmypix, weather apps & news updating every hour and i have never had any lag problems, even running on JI2 stock, much less ever had phone freezes. The ONLY time I had phone freezing was messing with those OC kernels, which I promptly uninstalled.
Let me ask people that run lag fixes this, when playing with the Vibrant at the t-mobile store, why did you choose buy it if you were experiencing this "lag", especially when it was running stock firmware?
edit: I also ran JFS lag fix for a day, but that drained my battery faster than a fat kid ate cake. It was not even noticeably faster either.

Its not mental its on every phone. Unless lagfixed/hacked u have the same fileaystem as us.
The home switchers and unofficial roms are morw mental due to placebo effect - some lag fixes aren't even that good, but people claim tenfold improvements due to placebo effect...

The phone T the store wasn't syncing a google and corp accoumt, plus facebook, plus twitter, and other apps. It simply wadn't prone to lagging, brcausr no user in their righy mind sets their **** up on a display unit just to test it.
Btw, "why didn't you test it for 10 min before you bought it" is getting old.
Their were no other good phones in t-mo when many of us broughy yhis. Couldn't just swap for a g2, mt4g, or hd7.
Many people thought an update would fix it, like the gps.
We were wrong, obviously.

I've done it on pretty much every phone I've owned, but like I said its not really nessicary, if anything its a slight stutter, but either way its not different than other android phones I've used (even my vibrant using a lag fix). its really just my preference to sync manually.
So I followed the instructions in the v6 SuperCharger script thread and the phone is wicked fast now, virtually no lag whatsoever. But I have what appears to be a battery drain issue. Spare Parts and SystemPanel let me zero in on a process called "zygote" which was consuming 30% of the CPU even when the screen was off. I may try disabling the script to see what happens but I'd hate to go back to the stock laggy experience.
Does anyone know what zygote does or is for and why it would keep running continuously? Are the new memory values causing the phone to keep shifting around apps/processes to maintain the minimum free memory and this is using up CPU and therefore battery?
Eric
Which areas on the phone were you noticing considerable lag?
Did you also figure out what the process was and why it was taking up so many cycles?

Are you asking me? The process is called "zygote" in SystemPanel. Under Spare Parts, Android System was shown as keeping the phone awake.
The original lag I was experiencing was within various apps and also ADW Launcher flipping between homescreens.
Eric
I was intrigued and googled it. The best answer I found without too much digging was here:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-discuss/browse_thread/thread/fa8a9e3f3b891b0d/44b3bb43d0aa783a
But by that explanation it doesnt seem like zygote should be using that much cpu. Perhaps this script changes its behavior?
Still surprised people do not have red flags for concern in regards to having to use this app in the first place. People are having to use an app designed for low memory devices (256mb) on a device with 512mb. gTablet has 512mb, Tegra 2, Froyo as well, but does NOT have these problems and performs much better (never thought I would say that, but the gtablet DOES perform MUCH better).
That said, if the mystery of the low ram issue, audio pops and random reboots are fixed in an update- the DX2 will be great (IMO). Had the DX2 for two weeks and wanted to keep it, but the issues mentioned were not worth messing with. Having the similar software and hardware on the gTablet gave me a source for comparing and realizing something is wrong with the DX2's firmware.
Not to hijack, but when you get to this part in the Tutorial, which setting should one choose for the x2?
"Touch the screen and tap the number 6, Balanced 3, the best choice for GT540, and hit ENTER .... The script will work .... after finished, touch the screen again and tap the number 16"

You're an idiot.
I've told you a few times already that the script fixes badly configured memory management no matter what the device.
The minfrees is a secondary to the primary function - fixing OOM groupings and priorities for optimal performance.
Is an app like AKMO or AMM only good for 256 mb devices?
No, they aren't. But all they do is change minfree values.
So don't be so stupid.
And for those that think it's causing battery drain, unsupercharge.
You will still have battery drain and the phone will be slower.

You appear to be a rude individual who disgraces Led Zep and showed be forced to change your icon to Vanilla Ice
The DX2 should NOT require to be managed for low ram. gTablet has none of these issues and besides some telephony tasks, has the same hardware and software setup as the DX2- none of the issues and no need to have to manage low operational ram. Seems the DX2 does not truly have 512mb of FUNCTIONAL ram, hence the need to run non standard scripts. For folks that do not root, they are SCREWED due to pi55 poor firmware by Motorola.
Start being nicer to people and you can keep your Led Zep icon with honor/honour.

I tend to agree with you on this. Having dealt with hardware for 25+ years, rarely does the hardware come optimized to a truly great point. Some are definitely worse than others, but there can still be improvements.
Expecting a perfectly optimized piece of hardware/software from any company seems bit foolish. Fortunately the community that uses the hardware are generally the best at getting it to it's best state, regardless of what those who like to drink the koolaid might say.
In any case, I ran this on my X2 and everything had been tip-top since. I have not seen this Zygote issue and I used option 9.

Not seeing/tasting the koolaid here. Very simple point that out of box, the DX2 has to be managed like a 256mb ram device. I have been around a tad too and have my undergrad in computer electronics (so far back, we still used Tandy's to program eeproms then) so have a teeny bit of subject matter appreciation.
The points were never about the script, but the device itself. Out of box, the device operates with low ram- just like the Droid 1 (which I also owned). Back then, no problem, since 2.1 and lower only really used 256mb ram and the Droid 1 was (IMO) ten times better than the G1 that I also bought at launch.
For as long as there have been computers, people have been tweaking them.
Tell me, does each windows computer sold have a different memory configuration depending on ram?
No, its managed the same across the board.
Same thing with android.
I've been tweaking them since I had a pentium 90..ya... 90mhz with windows95.
You got rid of it and still troll forums as your new hobby.
No, you didn't drink the koolaid.
You tried V6 with low ram values, ignored my suggested megamemory settings, returned the phone, and troll and whine every chance you get about it.
So stop being an ignorant suck and enjoy your new whatever...
Oh yeah... I can be rude... big deal.
Just like you can be ignorant.
I just have a low tolerance to intentional ignorance.
You still spew stuff about 256mb device settings despite the fact that the script has megamemory device settings while the main feature is fixing the notoriously bad memory configuration of gingerbread on ALL devices.
If you can't grasp that, you're stupid too.

Hi Guys,
I am on ICS 4.0.4 and my S3 shows 779 MB, which is always busied by 680 or so!!!
I checked an S2 with ICS 4.0.4 and the memory is 830, and is busied by 450 on average. (S2 has larger memory than S3 on ICS4.0.4???)
So what is wrong with the S3 memory? i keep on killing apps all day and night to bring it to 450 or around, I dont have too many programs, and, i am not using except two widgets, checking on the background processes annd programs, most of the system's stuff is running on its own, even if i freeze some using Titanium pro.
Anyone has the same problem (if i can call it a problem?!) is that normal??!
Why would you consider it as a problem? Android is best at multitasking. You don't have to kill apps, its the nature of the beast so to speak to have a semblance of the apps running in the background for your convenience.

Deodexed ROMs have their .apk's (which are basically the application packages) repackaged in a certain way. An "odex" can be thought of as a collection of parts of applications that have been pulled out and optimized before booting. This speeds up the boot process - in a way, it preloads part of the applications - but it also makes hacking those apps difficult because part of the original code is already extracted somewhere else.
Deodexing is just a process of putting those pieces back into the original applications. It takes a while to extract those parts and build the .dex cache (aka Dalvik cache), but only because the relevant parts aren't in an easy-to-access place for the system. The advantage of this is that an app can be modified effectively and the developer doesn't have to worry about conflicts from the separate odex part of the code.
So, short version: "Deodexed" ROMs have all their apps put back together. If an app can be themed, for example, a deodexed version of that app will not get messed up when the modified .apk tries to mesh with the odex of the original un-modified .apk. Because it's not there.
If you want an aftermarket theme, you need a deodexed ROM. I'm not sure if deodexing can be done to individual apps within a non-deodexed ROM.
The search on the site is horrible. I use Google and type xda after anything I'm looking for

well, I guess its widely know how android manages memory, and clearing ram is more of a performance inhibitor than a booster. I gave up all hope when I took my s3 to the service center and was given the solution of clearing the RAM repeatedly to solve the horrible ram issue.
the problem i was and still am facing is, the ram usage increases automatically within few hours of usage with hardly any apps installed. its extreme as it crosses 790mb and stays in that range. whats bad is apps keep on restarting in the background, phone slows down terribly ( switching between apps, moving out of an app just to stare at the app drawer 3-4 secs for all the apps to load, even the keyboard takes time to pop up). So moderate ram usage is good, but high ram usage is bad especially when it causes to slow down basic use. now what problem i am left with is deciding whether to root and flash a custom ROM and void the warranty on my one month old device, as both the times i revisited the service center the only thing the guy did was format and reload the firmware, which didn't solve anything. this was prevalent on stock ICS as well after the JB update via kies. as a last resort I am thinking of trying an official firmware from another region. as Indian one was causing the issue. my friend got his s3 from saudi and he hasnt had such severe problem(certain sluggishness is acceptable on a bloated stock firmware). so i am thinking of flashing that firmware. is it safe to do that? and i wouldnt need root access for that right, only odin and the firmware correct?

Generally RAM usage depends a lot on running widgets.
I personally use only one widget on screen at all times. (Google search) which is enough to get the job done for anything. And I run only 3 home screens
I would usually have about 200 free ram
Also Im on Omega 34 rom which is by far best (In my opinion for RAM management). It automates in such a way that 200mb ram is free at all times.
I really dont care much about warranty ,the first thing I do when I get an android device is to root it. (You do know you can unroot right ?)
So if RAM is really so important to you its best to root.

yes I am well aware of rooting/un-rooting and other basics, had done all that on my S2(i9100), also found it more fun and efficient than stock but time is the only factor that's stopping me from experimenting. and thanks for the omega tip. I am certainly going to flash a custom ROM, after trying out few official ones, When I do, I would definitely go for Omega, alot of people recommending that one.
Omega is good as is WanamLite, Foxhound and Hyperlight. Smoothest I've used were Foxhound and Omega although I'm running WanamLite at the moment. Smoothest version I've used.
Just what it says. I've had my Galaxy S3 for 4 days and I've noticed that I only ever have about 100mbs (out of 800) free on my phone at any one time.
On my SGS2 I have over 300mb even with many games/apps running.
Sure my SGS3 is far faster than my SGS2 but when it comes to Web surfing and watching flash videos on pages, as well as just browsing around the home screen sometimes the phone gets so low on memory that it just starts to randomly kill apps that I have open. Apps like: Avast (which I don't use for the Anti-virus but for the extensive Anti-theft protection), Viber - which I use for making and receiving VoIP calls and Tasker. Which I use for automating things.
Surely a phone like this needs RAM I'm sure. But leaving me with just 100mbs spare for everything else can't be right can it?
I don't have many things running. Just the normal stuff. The main point is that my SGS2 could easily handle all this.
Anyone else having the same problem? Is there anything I can do? I use the Opera Mobile (not lite) browser.
I'd be happy to provide more information if needed. I'm pretty gutted over this. Battery life is lovely but the phone's performance grinds to a total halt when it clears its RAM... Which I never did manually on my SGS2 because it drains battery when it caches everything instantly again anyway.
Thanks so much in advance.
P.S. I can't find a 'task manager' app anywhere. I know if hold down the home button that I can access the task manager by pressing 'task manager' but that doesn't show me anything useful like what the SGS2 does. I can't exit apps or see how much RAM and CPU they are using or anything. Does the SGS3 really not have this option??
Touchwiz for s3 is heavy! Normally you shouldn't worry about ram on Android but touchwiz is really little much... I would recommend cm9 maybe.. Lightweight and fast

Hey thanks a lot for your reply!
I will never be flashing a custom Rom over this phone. I like it the way that it is. I'm using Nova Launcher not TwLauncher.
Surely touchwiz can't be that big of a RAM hog. I have 4.0.3 on my SGS2 how can 4.0.4 be so much worse?
Edit: Obviously free RAM is wasted RAM but did you even read my post at all??? My phone keeps running out of RAM and killing apps, then reloading them instantly which slows down my phone to a halt and excessively drains my battery...
Ram handling is clearly flawed in SGS 3, lets hope the is no HW bug.
Hopefully future updates will fix the leaking memory.
Does people think that android is windows, or why someone allways complain about low ram? People, please learn how android ram management really works.

What are you even doing here? I'm running custom rom and the killing of apps is gone.
To those people spamming about "free ram is wasted ram" that is true BUT samsung set their priorities wrong to start killing apps you use, since touchwiz is pretty big it kills the apps you need instead. On cm9 the ram can be used for cache for stuff you actually need and use. This dude having issues with multitasking due to bad priorities wich is solved by mods / custom roms.. If you not are willing to try that I have no clue why you ask in xda for help.

Maybe free ram in android is wasted ram, but only if the ram is used for USEFUL apps. Samsung have made a lot of stupid apps run in the background at all time, like softwareupdate, Chaton, some clud service process, AllShare Service, and a lot more (google maps also run at any given time, eating 30 mb of ram). All of this apps run in the background and take up a lot of ram, even tho I NEVER use this apps. All of these running apps, prevent the apps that I USE from being kept in the ram, and thus leads to a longer load time (f.x. Handcent SMS take a sec or 2 to load if it is not already loaded in the ram). What I did was to download Autostarts from the market and prevent these apps from starting up by themself, and thus I made room for the apps I use to be kept in the ram. However, be carefull, disabling apps from starting up (especially system apps), can cause problems!

If someone has 300MB free ram and is asking about freeing up more ram this makes sense.
If free ram is always <100mb then there's a memory management problem.
OP try disabling unused apps in the app manager, streamline startup apps and use gemini to turn off auto launching of unneeded apps.
On stock I used to have about 150-200MB free ram at boot. With CM9 and 10 i get 300-400MB free RAM at boot.

Just freeze all of the bloatware. Install a good custom kernel (eg Siyah) and move on! No one to blame but yourself for not doing that or wanting to.
Android is doing its job just fine with memory. It's just bogged down by Samsung and vendor crapware.

Excuse me but not everyone who asks questions in the XDA forums are idiots. I don't know what's with the attitude here of everyone with a couple of hundred posts but I'm not impressed. Knowing how RAM management works has NOTHING to do with this thread. The complaint in question here is that my phone is constantly running out of RAM and when it does it starts to kill background apps to free RAM which in turn grinds my phone down to a halt, and drains the battery excessively. Are you just here to get your post count up or something?

UGHHHH!!! READ WHOLE DAMN POST! NOT JUST THE THREAD LINE.. I don't care about if my phone has 3MB of RAM free all the time or not as long as it works without a hitch, what I care about is that my phone is killing background apps that I need open and then constantly reloading them over and over when I'm web browsing and sometimes when I'm just at the home-screen.

XDA isn't just about modding/using custom roms etc. There are multiple sections on the forums here for discussion about other topics. Including asking general questions about the device... I use ROMs on my other phones where I can because I love them and I don't mind the constant updating I have to do. But on this phone, I don't want to use partially-unstable roms that require me to constantly flash my phone over and over again just to get features that are already working fine in the general release version. There is no guarantee that this problem will be fixed in a rom anyway and some of us don't like breaking our warranty. Even if it's child's-play to return the phone back to stock settings and renew the warranty.

I've frozen all of these... 'Talkback, OTA Updates, Bluetooth (I never use it) as well as turned off NFC and a bunch of other things etc. etc. etc. I don't have that much running in the background but my phone still bounces between 330MBs (after killing everything) of free RAM and under >90. (2 mins later after everything has reloaded) To which it then starts throwing warnings and killing apps I need.

^This. THANKYOU! Finally someone who didn't just read the tagline and post stupid retorts like "This isn't Windows" etc. I thought I was being plenty clear enough when I stated that the problem I was talking about was the fact that the phone goes from blisteringly fast, to painstakingly slow whilst browsing.
Disabling ALL addons (Javascript, Flash etc). from running while browsing stops this from happening 99.9% of the time. I also removed Tasker, much to my displeasure and froze a few more apps and it seems to happen less now but I'm still hovering around the 'workable' part of my phone. Which makes me feel a bit displeased because I didn't buy a phone to be limited by what I can do with it...

It's hard to freeze bloatware when you have a bunch of people posting in forums that they don't know half of what the apps on the SGS3 do and if they are safe to freeze or not. I've done some searches but it seems that most people are generally confused about what is safe or not to freeze. Same thing happened with the SGS2. When I got it I googled (and found this place) what I could freeze and found people nitpicking over what they should, and shouldn't freeze. I have frozen everything that I've found is safe to, from multiple threads on the forums here.
I'll go and read a thread though as to why it's a good idea to flash a new kernel. I'd rather not have any restrictions as it is anyway, so that will be my next step, thanks!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks a ton to anyone who gave me the time of day and didn't just slam up some copypaste drama that has nothing to do with this thread. Free RAM is wasted RAM but when there isn't enough free RAM that background apps start getting killed (and usually instantly reloaded) then it goes without saying phone gets slower, battery drains faster, performance loss etc.
Excuse my retarded attitude but this isn't even the 10th time here I've had to dodge people who just post crap without even reading anything, and then just move on and do the same thing over and over.
I'm going to flash a new kernel, cross my fingers and freeze a few more apps, turn plug-ins to 'on demand' and cross my fingers again.
Thanks again to everyone who really helped and peace. I added thanks to you guys.

Firstly, you need to face the fact that 2GB was a bad decision by Google for this tablet. There is nothing that we can ever do about that. :crying:
If you want to stay on stock, Chrome is the main culprit in consuming Ram. Switching to Habit Browser makes things better as well as changing your DPI to 288. Do a search on XDA regarding this. Whilst it improved things, it was still not enough for me.
I snapped a week ago and have now rooted and flashed CM13 and stuck with Habit. I've been using a few days now, and for the first time, I can keep my 3 Fantasy Premier League Tabs open, (they are huge,) without constant refreshes, redraws and lag. :victory: Right now, I feel for the first time, I'm getting what I paid for and the Nexus Experience. The only bug so far, is that always listening doesn't work.
If you've just bought this tablet, I'd consider returning it if you are not prepared to root. The performance will never be acceptable on stock.

Clearing dalvik cache will do precisely ONE thing and ONLY one thing; make it take a long time to boot next time as it regenerates it.
Ignore the amount of available memory. People who are concerned about the amount of free memory are trying to apply bad mswindows knowledge to Android. Totally different and no comparison. UNUSED MEMORY IS WASTED MEMORY!!!
So here is how memory management works in Android; it *preloads* everything that it thinks you are most likely to actually use, so that when you DO use it, it is more likely already loaded and starts up very quickly. If you are switching to something that is NOT already loaded, then it just needs to dump lower priority programs out of memory, which basically only takes a few nanoseconds (billionths of a second). So that is NOT it.
If your device is acting slowly, then you need to figure out what the actual cause is. Trace the CPU utilization with something like the "top" command (the one with busybox is a lot nicer than the one that comes with Android) while you are experiencing slowdown. You can also look to see if there is excessive I/O happening (i.e. read/write to the internal storage), and of course, some software will require a network exchange before it will start up -- nothing you can do about network lags.

You can do some investigation by watching the processes and seeing which are taking the CPU and memory on stock. The problem is, when you find out, there isn't much you can do about it.

Its quicker and easier to just install a custom rom where this type of work has already been done for you. :victory:
Lately, I've discovered that loading Chrome immediately raises my CPU temp by 30+ degrees. Sometimes that's enough to make things run really slow
Yeah, I agree...I will try to fimd sometime amd go over flashing a custom rom. ??

Web browsers are DEFINITELY a source of slowdowns.
The problem, more often than not, is actually *javascript* that is written by MORONS. Even on a desktop machine, you can watch the web browser for CPU and RAM utilization, and it just grows and grows and grows until you finally kill the process and start a new one.
What this may come down to is actually quite simple; the CPU in the Nexus 9 is actually more suitable for use as a stovetop than an actual CPU. These things get way too hot way too fast. If you beat on them with a web browser, they'll get hot and throttle down to low/verylow frequency, which will make them generally unresponsive. So if that is what is happening to you, there really end up being a few options to deal with it;
1) disable javascript in the browser,
2) don't use the browser,
3) improve the ability to disperse heat from the CPU.
For #3, you may note that when it gets hot, it is pretty localized to the corner of the device up near the power button. An easy solution to distribute heat better might be something simple, like adding a layer of copper foil to the inside of the back cover. The thicker the copper foil the better. Copper is very good at conducting heat, so this would spread the heat around over the entire area covered by that foil. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Copper-Foil...nductive-Adhesive-Ship-from-USA-/162018486132
I also found chrome was slow starting up, switching tabs etc. Found that logging out of my Google account in chrome improved this. Seems that synching tabs etc triggers the pause. This might be an acceptable workaround for some but I appreciate it isn't a great fix if you want to use that feature. Actually I'm not bothered as I think Google know too much anyway. But the underlying problem is this tablet... I don't have this problem on my phone.

Yeah, they do get hot...and the browser is the problem, I agree...however, I think they are not the main reason...there is something wrong with low memory or maybe some apps...

I don't agree with that.
We use our N9's *all of the time*, and there is never any perceptible slowdown. Possibly with the exception of straining them with web browsers, but web browsers are... poopy... on EVERY platform and device, so that doesn't really stand out. Typically just minimize the use of web browsers and all is well.
Web browsers were good in 1996 when they were simple things to display an html website. Since then, they've added all kinds of useless crap to them that bloat them out, hog up tons of memory, and just generally make them into a useless waste of space.

Update:
I think I have kind of find the problem of low speed of my Nexus 9...I uninstalled an app that was for weather prediction and from that time on my Nexus 9 is very fast and responsive...No problem so far. I also uninstalled some other apps alogaide that which I was never using them,so I am not sure if the weather app was exactly the reason of the slow downs...but the other apps where just some games or some simple apps....well, I hope this information helps! Let me know your idea. Thanks everyone
