Is it possible to port a silver light web application into an android app? How would one go about doing this?

I think there was some work done a while ago to port the Linux Silverlight alternative called Moonlight to Android. I don't think it got very far.
Moonlight is missing some things like DRM which Microsoft won't share (no surprise there) so things like Netflix won't work.

Would it be possible to port an silver light application to java and then to android?

That I couldn't tell you. I would imagine you could just write it in Java or C# and make it Android native though

Flash Player?

Coming from an Inspire I had no idea that flash wad no longer supported past 4.0, and I thought I wouldn't need it with browsers like chrome and Firefox. What are people using instead to get flash on sites that require it?

Try this thread. Download and install the apk. It will not work in all browsers because they don't support it anymore, but you can find some older versions through Google search and use those. The thread has an older version of Dolphin listed for download.

Isn't flash player built into the stock browser?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yes, flash is already installed. You will need to go to stock browser settings and enable.
I use Maxthon browser if i need to view flash websites. Doesn't work with Dolphin though.

The Ubuntu Touch web browser will not support Flash videos, but it should support any modern site that provides HTML5 videos.
However, HTML5 video support is still in development, but if you are interested you can track the progress in this bug report: launchpad.net/bugs/1197699 (sorry for the non-clickable link, I'm too new to XDA to be able to post links).

Mozilla's engineering efforts are probably too focused on their own phone OS at the moment to consider porting their browser to others.

I suppose so too. Default browser in ubuntu images for phone is made by Canonical? Is going to be the default browser insted of chromium, firefox or another browser that can appear?

Qml qt firefox
As I am aware of Mozilla already has a coded app for Firefox Meego
which has the same luanguge although not built in ubuntus sdk it does run in qt qml.
I can be simply ported in a matter of weeks but I doubt
Cannonical will do so for ubuntu touch and mozilla is focused on other more established.platforms ill ask around gplus and nokia forums maybe we can have community members help to port it

AllShare Cast on non-Samsung devices

I have a Note 10.1 and Note 8 both with AllShare Cast, I have a few other Android devices like an original Note an Tab 2, I'm curious if anyone had successfully used AllShare Cast on a device that doesn't have it installed in a shipping device. It's it as easy as copying an .apk file? Or is there some hardware feature required to run the app?

Many Samsung features and apps are limited to running only on devices with the Touchwiz frameworks. If you can find an apk you can try installing it and see what happens.

My problem is finding the apk. It doesn't announce itself. I was hoping someone else had tried this. XDAers are an experimental bunch.

I'm wondering if anyone has been working on this idea? Any progress at all or has it been abandoned completely?
