Wrong forum to ask this particular question. Should be in Android General Discussion :/
Which phone is best is a very subjective matter. It all depends on what you want in a phone. If you want an abundance of custom ROM's you're going to have to go with a high end, popular phone or a Nexus. From there things dilute even further into smaller choices, like if you prefer AMOLED over LCD, or a massive screen, or on the smaller side, or processor type, amount of RAM, camera sensor size, camera MP count, etc. I could go on and on.
You're the only person that know's what phone is best for you.

[Q] AMOLED screen of galaxy s for xperia

Is it possible to put the AMOLED screen of galxy s onto xperia x10 as both have the same screen size?
No because the G S screen is wider than the x 10
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
THen how come both the screen sizes are 4 inch?
4 inches long. Has nothing to do with width

Screens are measured corner to corner. Even if they have the same screen size (4"), unless the aspect ratio is the same the actual length and width are different.

Then which amoled screen suits the x10? wat about nokia e7?
I never got these kinds of ideas... It would be more trouble than it would be worth. Also, you would have to change more than just the screen. Drivers, kernel tweaks, etc.... would all be necessary for you to actually take advantage of it

If you want a better camera , I am sorry to say you will need to buy a stand-alone.
what dont you like about it? I think its pretty damn good.
Are you using a custom ROM? I know some of them mess with the camera in a bad way.
Coming from an iPhone 4 (which I loved taking pictures with) the GS2 is so much better. Especially when using an alternative camera app such as Camera Zoom FX.
Hell, the images look on par with pics taken with my fiancees 4s. The dof and fov loom better on the 4s. But, the gs2 has better color accuracy and sharpness. The flash is also much better.

As much as I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it would actually be beneficial in backing up your complaint with at least a little detail on the actual issues you're referring to.

It isn't better? So what's wrong with it? I agree that the camera app for the captivate was great.
But to complain about the one in this phone is like complaining about the 2012 Bentley, in that it's like the 2011's.
Dude! It's a freakin Bentley!!
Just because it's similar doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. I think it is a great app, better than the captivate's.

One thing ive noticed in the camera settings is when i try to select an option, a lot of the time it is unresponsive and i have to press it again or even a few times to get it to take. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

Yeah, this happens to me as well. I rarely change the settings, but it is kind of annoying.
i like the camera on this phone, nice colors and clarity.
Well the main difference between a 5 MP camera on the Captivate and the 8 MP on this phone is the size of the picture, nothing more. And yeah, the Captivate had an epic camera already, and at such high numbers, I guess the jump isn't that high...

The Captivate did have an excellent camera, however taking presentable quality indoor shots under
normal lighting conditions day or night was a impossibility due to the Captivate's lack of flash.
(not to mention that outdoor dawn or night shots of people were impossible without flash)
I have to agree that i'm disappointed in the camera. A few things i notice:
- the captivate seems to handle incandescent and "soft white" CFLs a lot better.
- while it's nice having a flash.. it's just too bright. wish there was a way to dim in in software
- when i make EV adjustments: there seems to be almost no noticeable difference between 0 and +2. -2 how ever is a fairly drastic change (as it should be).
- when set to spot meter on the captivate, i could aim at the darker parts of a subject to get the image brighter.
- the front camera seems to deal with warm lights better than the main.
So far, i suspect that there might be a max shutter speed somewhere and that's why doing +EV doesn't work in low light.
When i have time, i will try various test shots.
One test i should also try is to use the digital zoom, so the flash is farther away from the subject.
Another thing i notice is i feel the screen is overly saturated and dark compared to the captivate when both are set to auto.
the only thing I agree with is that the LED flash is very bright at times. Otherwise, the camera is top notch. If you need a better camera, get a standalone.

Galaxy S3 issues?

I'm thinking of getting the S3 again for the rom/root. I dont want to unlocked my HTC One X with HTCDev because I do not wish to void warranty . So I was wondering are there any issues that I should look out for when getting a SGS3? I read the general section and I didnt see any.

Well most of the physical issues include some black spots/marks on the screen when switched off(apparently prevalent in all a amoled screens, slight heating at the bottom and physical faults with the body. Can't remember some of the others. Quite frankly I haven't encountered any problems with mine. The phone is a bit fragile though so handle with care. Best thing is to examine the phone properly for factory faults when buying it

Are they visible on low brightness? Or do you need to be on a pitch black screen in a very dark room.

Well before the one x and galaxy nexus I used to just buy a phone without thinking. Now I'm constantly looking for defects in phones :/
Well you just need to look for factory faults with the s3. The only real problems are software related which can or will eventually be fixed

Touchwood no issues either. Loose volume rocker is not so great but you dont notice it inside a cover.

I know im voiding my warranty with samsung but I can easily make it look like I never touched the phone you cant with HTCDev.
Any banding on white/grey images? Like the galaxy nexus. This is generally on low brightness.
While I love my S3, I still think the screen sucks VS one X or iPhone 4s. Pentile is pentile I guess, because in the text it is very noticeable.
That being said, it is still the phone I'd choose at the moment. I don't trust the One X hardware quality long term.
Is the black dots that are on the screen the same thing as on the Galaxy Note known as "Black Crush"??
No I think black crush is something to do with the display being dark in videos. I'm not sure.

some people use phone for browsing net and for msging or phone calls and don't like to weare brick in the pocket :silly:.
Even for the msg, call, etc Bigger the better.. Since typing is easy...people expect atleast 3.5 or more for easy use

i want to use smartphone with one hand, so i like the mini one, it's convenience for me.
3.5 or 3.7 can be used with single hand..
Yes, some people dont want to put tablets in pocket. 3-3,5'' is ok for someone. We are not all kids who want play games! There is small number of small quality phones. I have nothing against 4, 5 or 10'' phone..but give us more 3,5'' phones with good specs. Mostly small phone means low ram, weak procesor, outdated etc.
I use Xperia Ray now-find it small enough and powerfull. 1ghz, 512ram, hd video, 8mp. I dont need games all day long. And now i tapatalk with no problems on 3,3''. 4'' and more is too big for me - must use both hands for convinient use.
My previous phone was x10mini - great small phone!
I do
For me, as a girl, I do like the small scree the I choose 3' for daily use...
I think many people now prefer the big screen because the style prefers that.. like several years ago, the smallest the better
maybe some day later, it will turns back to the old style again
Yes, now tablet-like phones are status symbols.
il like mini and x8...

[Q] Xeperia Tablet Z vs. Nexus 10

I have been wanting to buy a new 10 inch tablet and these two seem to be the best ones currently on the market.
While I like the design of the tablet Z, I am wondering if some of you can provide insights regarding the comparison... lag, disk i/o performance, resolution, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Nexus 10
Higher DPI
Direct updates
Stock Android
Xperia z tab
LTE/4G
Lighter
Thinner
Premium Design
Dust proof
Water proof
S-Force surround sound
microSD
Wi-Fi hotpot
Infrared port
Blutooth 4.0
8mp camera
LED flash
2.2 front camera
It depends on what you want from the tablet but I would go for xperia tablet z

I read lots of PDFs and webpages so I like Nexus' higher DPI, and its lower price does not hurt, either. However, I am not sure how Sony's full HD display looks like in real life when compared to the Nexus 10... I am also curious of people's feedback for the Sony-skinned Android. Is it useful or intrusive? I have not used Sony's mobile devices before so I have no idea...
However, Sony's design and the feature of water resistance are the reason that I am leaning toward the tablet z...

Sony doesnt have good support on software updates...at least not according to the forums here but I believe that is good support, if they indeed succeed on the AOSP. If they do, I would agree on the idea of the Z before the N10 but I'll wait for now.

First thing, the first two Sony Android tablets were managed by the Vaio team, not Sony Mobile team. Second, at least it seems, Sony is trying to get their stuff done and provide some good updates to all of us faster than the last years.
Some users with nexus 10 seems to ahve a bug with it randomly rebooting and wifi dropping. My wife has the nexus 10 and faces such issues. bit disappointing considering i thought stock android would be more stable.
Go for the XPERIA TABLET Z, it's just objectively better.
Also, Companies like HTC and Samsung are interferring significantly with the Vanilla Android, changing everything, while Sony only makes a few Design improvements and adds some features. Like eg small apps. TouchWiz and Sense are big changers while Sony only tweaks a bit
Well, it seems that Sony is doing a great job here releasing the aosp code officially. Hopefully they will keep doing this! =D
And, yeah, sense and touchwiz sucks.
