Hey everyone, I'm currently in the Air Force and I'm getting stationed in Germany. And due to that I'm going to be freezing my Verizon account till I get back.
Now I really love this phone, and I'd like to keep using it; however, will I be out of luck without an actual service plan? I'm not talking about running it without a data plan. I mean actually no service whatsoever other than the Wifi.
Can it be done?
Can I has Wifi smartphone in Germany?
Thanks much beforehand for any help!

Umm, why couldn't you? Put the phone in airplane mode, turn wifi on/off as you please. Last I checked, the didn't ban Wifi in Europe or Germany (yet, the EU does stupid stuff sometimes)

Is it really that easy? Also, what might that limit as far as functionality of the phone other than just calls and texts?
Also, would I need to worry about accidentally turning off the Airplane mode and getting charged again, or does the phone just stop receiving service period?
Thanks much for the help and I'll feel kinds silly if it really was this easy ha.
If you froze your VZW account, you should stop receiving service entirely, and not have to worry about getting calls, 3G, etc. But I could be wrong about that, so if someone could confirm...
Also, does Germany even have CDMA towers? I thought the rest of the world was on GSM.

other countries use cdma (china and india have major carriers that do) and several others as well (peru, etc) if you go to verizon's international travel coverage you can actually see (or used to anyway) what country had what type of coverage and where on a map
however gsm is the major technology used worldwide...i dont have figures handy, but id guess its like 85/15 or something split wise
with emerging lte adoption though at some point in the future id imagine things becoming more unified...or even further split as many carriers may stick with hdspa+ rather than spend the money on lte infrastructure...who knows
i have an epic 4g that has no sevice at all and my kids use it as an ipod with
wifi work great text also as long as u have wifi.
ps i got the phone from a buddy that could not pay a bill for two phone so he suspended the line.
If you deactivate your service, the phone will attempt to connect, but won't be able to. I doubt many overseas carriers would allow data usage for roaming anyway even if airplane mode did get turned off, I'd think they probably only allow calls/texts.
Airplane mode (to save battery from frivolous radio connection attempts) + wifi. You're good.
No cdma in Germany, so no network to connect to to begin with. Verizon wont even let you use a phone in Europe without a special international roaming thing on your account anyways, so they certainly wont allow it to connect if you're suspended

I was in Germany about 3 weeks ago and I kept my phone in airplane mode and turned WIFI on and off when I wanted internet access. The problem was that I was not able to find any free WIFI - hotel, Starbuck's, etc. all charged a fee. Getting on the internet was not worth the going rate of 5 euros an hour. Your experience may be different; however, except in housing it's unlikely that you will find WIFI on base.
In the past I used an old droid as a portable device around the house. I never enabled airplane mode. I even took it on a trip with me for a media device. I got stranded in TX via buddy pass. I had to take a 27 hour bus trip home. My regular phone died. I couldn't charge the battery on the bus. So I used the droid to call Verizon to turn it on. And then turned it back off when I got home. I never had any issues with getting a data charge on my plan when I was using it as a portable. If it's deactivated in their computers I don't see how it would connect to a phone service.
I assume() that this would be the same with the Fascinate. The Fascinate is nothing more than a small handheld computer that make phone calls. Turn off the phone service and it should continue to do everything else as normal.
I would look into getting a skype account. It may even have some type of free package. You could try to make wifi calls in a pinch. I have no experience with that, but it seems like it would work. I don't know how much it would cost.
Hi community, I'm a noob to posting and I'll apologize up-front. This is my first XDA thread, but I've been a silent creeper on here since the Windows Mobile 6/6.1/6.5 era. After searching here, Google, and other forums, I am still at a loss for the proper procedure for doing what I'm about to request. I have an LG Incite (CT810), which is a Windows 6.1 phone. I'm familiar with network settings, access codes, registry edits, ROMS, etc.; however, I'm new to Android and I won't even pretend to have a solid idea of what I'm doing.
Here's the situation: with my Incite, I have a "smartphone exclusion" and "data opt-out" features on my plan. This meant that for 3 years, I did not pay for data for any of the lines on my grandfathered family plan as the data network is mostly unusable in my portion of north Florida. Where I live, work, and go to school all have wi-fi and I have been largely successful managing things that way. On the Incite, you did the following to prevent all data requests from going from the phone to the network...Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks. Relatively straight-forward.
I now have a new SGS2 i777 sitting on my desk with both the new and old SIM cards available (as I have not yet activated it). After working extensively with premier/enterprise customer care, my plan now looks like it did 1 month ago when I was promised that I could upgrade to anything "other than an iPhone" and maintain my contract "as-is" (i.e. no data plan). I signed into my account last night and sure enough, the Enterprise Data Pro 2GB had been removed and the Data Opt-Out had been reinstated. I've been reading about IMEI crawlers and network connection monitors...and though I can't do anything about the first, I was wondering if there's anything that can be done to prevent the second from the phone side (like my Incite did). For example, making all background and active data refer to the wi-fi connection and throw an error if it wasn't connected.
I still have 2 weeks left in my "buyer's remorse" period to activate or figure out what to do. Basically, I don't want to pay for something I can't use--especially since I'm on a fixed income. In summary, are there internal settings to prevent network data or is there more work I need to do from the customer care side?
Thank you ahead of time for your patience with me.
You ight get more help in the i727 skyrocket forums, your posting in the Original SGS2. There is a big difference in phones. Sorry I am not of any further assistance since I am not running stock samsung roms so I havent tried what your wanting to do. I am on CM7 builds. I believe in CM7 there is a spot to choose 2G, 2G+3G, and other settings. But I am not aware on stock samsung roms. Take a look or see if your post can be moved to the Skyrocket forum for better help.

Headslap moment...it's an i777 SGS2 normal (non-Skyrocket) sorry about that. lol told ya I was a n00b.
I'm interested in all options: rooting, roms, apps, stock settings, etc.
Does anyone know if there's a code you dial that will take you to the engineer menu to adjust modem settings? (e.g. the Incite is 5476278#*#) 3G in this area is poor and 4G is non-existent so I probably don't need those either.

If I understand what you want correctly, you are looking for a way to completely disable data service over the cell network on the phone side, while maintaining the ability to use data over wifi? If that is the case, I don't know of a way to do this on stock firmware, but many custom firmwares include the option to disable data. Perhaps I'm missing your goal though...
Edit: menu>settings>wireless and network> mobile networks> enable packet data. If this is accessible on stock (can't remember, it's been a while) that might do what you want

I don't know how you managed to keep your old non-data plan as any new smartphone requires a minimum data plan, no ifs, ands or buts.

I gave my girl my captivate ( she had some old slider phone) and she just put her sim in and uses everrything on wifi. Didn't upgrade to a data plan.
If I understand OP correctly, then i think it's too easy to do.
I don't fully capture what OP's first or second mean but, my take
1. If you already "data opt-out", then you cannot receive any data, meaning you cannot access their network.
2. If you don't want to use their mobile network but just wifi, then turn off their network under Wireless and Network/Mobile Data (or DAta network) settings.
In fact, I turned it off frequently, for this month billing statement, I only consume 2.3MB so far LOL

+1 I'll definitely check that out when I get a chance to charge it. I just ran it down until it shut off so it'll be on the charger for a while once I get to my residence.
Idk if data opt out is same as data block but I use that on one of my lines with an Inspire 4G. With that route you lose mms though. Same with blocking it under wireless settings.

Changing phones does not affect your plan unless you buy a subsidized phone that requires a minimum data plan. I went from an Incite with an old unlimited plan and kept it when I went to a Tilt 2 that I bought off eBay. I simply swapped my SIM and it worked just fine. When I used my upgrade for the Captivate I was forced off my unlimited plan. If you go the full 30 days with that phone I suspect you will see yourself put on a 200mb plan. Did you get a new SIM with the phone? I got one with my SGSII and if I didn't activate it within the 30 days they would have charged me the full price of the phone.
Apndroid shuts off data through changing the apns for you.
The manual way is to type up a new apn with bad settings. Voice calls will still work, but data will never be able to connect. Wifi will be unaffected. No special settings needed anywhere else on the phone.

Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks>Use Packet Data
Uncheck the box at the menu above and you will not use cell data. WiFi data will work just fine. Just verified this on an unmodified, completely bone stock ROM. Changing the APN settings to incorrect values can be done as an added defense, but shouldn't be necessary. Hope this helps.

After speaking to enterprise business customer care many, many times, I was advised that there are extremely limited instances where business users can upgrade their plans and continue to use their old settings. I offered to buy an SGS2 on Newegg or Amazon at full price, so that I could maintain my plan (like you can with an unlocked phone and a T-Mobile Value-1000 plan utilizing the "bring-your-own-phone provision"), but the agents told me that I would be "upgraded" to a data plan based on the IMEI change from my Incite to my SGS2. Two t2 agents told me that buying a full-priced phone and then correcting the account was unnecessary as EBCC could correct the plan after the fact (even with an upgrade). I followed the instructions to a "t" and bought the phones via the EB OLAM, received them, emailed the agent 3x over the course of a week, but never heard back.
After 3 calls to EBCC, I reached a veteran tier 2 agent who said that correcting the plan based on my circumstances was "easily" done, but that the agent whom provided her email address had "owned" the problem and needed to get one last opportunity to take care of it. She said she emailed the prior agent and to call back and request tier 2 or a supervisor if she didn't contact me. Idk if she was just avoiding doing it or what, but I waited as instructed. I called back and reached a tier 1 agent who recited the normal stance regarding smartphones. Several tier 1 agents later, I reached one who spoke to her supervisor whom read the litany of notes and approved the plan adjustment. Will this work for anyone else? I doubt it, but who knows. ...probably won't work for me either lol...
The screenshots in my previous post were generated 5 minutes before I posted them--they are accurate. My concern from here on out is that the phone will attempt to download data or connect to 4G (2 of the 3 conditions that will generate a forced data plan--IMEI is the 3rd, but understandably, people don't like discussing that one on here). I'll try out the bone stock packet disable setting suggestion shortly and see what happens.
So with a quick search for a similar phone, I found *#*#INFO#*#* Which took me to the Testing Menu. From there, pressing Phone Information>Preferred Network Type>GSM Only. I'm not yet activated, but I'll reply back if that worked.
...making progress!
I saw a Captivate earlier, but has anyone had success keeping a 3.5/4G phone data plan-free?

How did they get away with that? I've been grandfathered for years, even when I got my first 3g phone. I don't know anybody who was actually forced down to a tiered plan.

When you buy a subsidized phone you have to agree to their terms. That requires you to sign a new contract, which did not give me the choice of keeping my old plan. Maybe I could have made a stink, but at the time they no longer offered unlimited plans and I really wanted the Cappy.
That's only true if you upgrade through 3rd party retailers. Even that, you can call AT&T to get your unlimited data plan back. No, you are no forced to give up the unlimited data when signing a new contract. The problem is most 3rd party retailers can't keep your unlimited with their computer systems, only AT&T stores can do so.
Success!
I swapped out the sim cards without formal activation earlier tonight...no dreaded "We noticed that you're using a smartphone..." text! (At least not yet). Packet data was enabled in the network settings--it seemed to have no effect. From as far as I can tell, the process involves the following...
I came from a grandfathered plan with a smartphone exclusion and data opt-out. I upgraded online and then called [enterprise] customer care and got both items added back along with getting my IMEI updated as available for the opt-out. That seems to be it. Nothing on the phone side. From what multiple tier 2 agents have told me, that will absolutely not work with an iPhone, but who cares about iPhones anyways
I'm curious which combination of data block, smartphone exclusion, and IMEI database update are necessary to make that work for others in situations similar to mine (useless data network where I live/ commute). Will this work with a dumbphone and a data opt-out (block)? I don't know. Perhaps someone who's in a position to upgrade could try it. Using a 3G sim card in a dumbphone, call customer care (611) and request a wix block/ data opt-out on that line. I doubt they'll put the smartphone exclusion on it if it's not a smartphone--if it is then they'll probably put a data plan on instead. After you can log into the online account management, check the features on the line and verify the data opt-out and then try to put your 3G sim into a 4G smartphone and make some calls. Warning: in the event that you weren't intending to upgrade to a smartphone anyways, you might cause yourself a lot of headache getting the data back off once your sim is back in your original non-smartphone (assuming that data block by itself isn't enough to curb the data). Please chime in if it worked because I'm sure there's at least a few members who would be interested.
Loving the Samsung Galaxy S II and XDA...I can't wait to decide which mods I'm going to do first...

Hello there guys
Theres a question i would like to be answer , i bought a photon off ebay with bad esn , that means i cannot activate it on sprint , thats alright cause i use gsm i live outside the usa , but i might leave to the states in a few months , so my question is , can i use the kddi radio to activate it on At&t ?
Cause esn = imei but on cdma am i right?
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
The KDDI radio will allow you GSM usage here in the US, correct, but to flash that radio onto the device you're going to have to still be on Android 2.3.4, with an unlocked bootloader as well (at least that's my understanding - I was lucky enough to get a 2.3.4 Photon a few days ago, and I'm avoiding 2.3.5 at all costs meaning the OTA).
As far as "activation" that's not required since the Photon is already unlocked for world operation.
Once you start using the KDDI radio (if you can use it), then you shouldn't have any issues with any GSM carrier here in the US. I currently use mine with T-Mobile prepaid because T-Mobile just turned on their 3G 1900 MHz band here in Vegas about 2 weeks ago and it works great so far.
So there shouldn't be any problems with esn and so ?

If I understand correctly, your ESN number should not matter at all for GSM networks. Your phone and account information are linked to your SIM card. At least that's how I understand it. I believe ESN numbers only pertain to CDMA networks.

The ESN is irrelevant for use with GSM networks, it's not read, it's not noted, it's not used at all - this is one particular reason why some "global" phones are popular in the used smartphone markets: if the owner didn't pay the bill on such a phone with the original carrier (Sprint, Verizon, aka CDMA carriers) they typically - but not always - have the option of potentially being able to use the device(s) with GSM capability.
But that's also the reason such devices when sold here in the US almost always lock out the GSM functionality here in the US so, thankfully in some instances it's possible to open or "unlock" that feature - and I don't mean carrier unlock since global phones almost always are unlocked from the factory anyway.
The Droid Bionic I recently had is easily "unlocked" for GSM use just by changing a few characters in the NVFlash; the Photon just requires flashing that KDDI radio but of course you have to have an unlocked bootloader to get that done so...
Either way, if you're on 2.3.4 and you can do the necessary stuff to get that KDDI radio on there, you'll be good to go here in the US for the GSM networks, and then you can revert back if needed too.

There's just no such thing for AT&T, or any provider for that matter. T-Mobile would be your best bet, they have prepaid service that's "unlimited" and you pay by the day, it's $3 and there really are no limitations that I've ever noted - that's what I currently use and it's fairly worthwhile since I don't actually want full blown monthly service or any contracts.
Also, in the US anybody that advertises "unlimited" is basically lying unless you do pay out the nose for it. T-Mobile does have a $30/monthly "true" unlimited plan now but they don't have it for any prepaid stuff, so that means a) you have to set up a 2 year contract and b) you have to sign up for a regular phone plan on top of the $30 so you'd be looking at the 2 year commitment and about $80 a month so, that's not gonna work either.
The T-Mobile $3/day prepaid thing would do great for you if you're just going to be here on a visit or something. If you intend to actually move here permanently and you want something decent, that T-Mobile $30/monthly unlimited on contract would most likely be the best overall right now and who knows when they may change it. It works for 4G as well but unfortunately there's no 4G service with the Photon with that unlocked bootloader and replacement radio.

Alright let see if i got this
A)So i cant just get the 30/monthly plan from T-mobile without signing up for a regular phone plan?
B)how does the prepaid service for data works? Like how you pay the 3 bucks a day
C)if i get T-mobile as my phone provider for data and so , im gonna get 3G with my photon?
Thanks for being around and answering my questions
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
A) Correct, because the $30/unlimited data plan must be tied to a regular calling plan aka you get locked into a contract.
B) You stop by a T-Mobile store or direct reseller and get the prepaid SIM card, put money on it (minimum $10) and then if you use your device with the SIM card it'll start the clock running in whatever time zone you happen to be in, the $3 is good till midnight in that time zone so it's best to try and use it just after midnight to get the most time possible. If you don't use it then you don't pay, basically (keep the phone in airplane mode till you actually require it, that sort of thing).
C) T-Mobile just starting rolling out service in the 1900 MHz GSM frequency band a few weeks ago here in the US - until the day the iPhone 5 came out T-Mobile did not offer 1900 MHz service anywhere in the US and using a device like the Photon would limit you to 2G/EDGE service and speeds.
However, the day the iPhone 5 was released was the first day T-Mobile enabled their 1900 MHz coverage for 3G/4G service in the US, and I happen to be lucky enough to have gotten it here in Las Vegas since this was the first city in the entire country to get that service turned on. It's spreading fast, of course, and you can go to this website:
http://www.airportal.de/
and see where T-Mobile is finally offering 3G service (and 4G as well) on non-T-Mobile devices like our Photon, or the Atrix 4G or Atrix 2, etc. I added a few reception reports for Las Vegas as soon as it went live here and now it's popping up all over the US as the rollout for 1900 MHz for T-Mobile spreads. They're doing it for several reasons but one big one is they're hoping to attract a lot of customers with unlocked GSM devices like the older iPhones to T-Mobile.
It's a smart move on their part.
Alright nice , i went to that webpage you just gave me and new york got 3G services so woohoo
About the T-mobile prepaid plan , so alright i bought my simcard with 10$ on it , got it at 9 am in the morning , once i activate my data on my photon , 3 bucks will be deducted from my balance until that day is over ?
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
Pretty much, yep, $3 per 24 hour period max - like I mentioned already, your best bet it to keep the phone in airplane mode when it's not in use, and turn that mode off just after midnight in whatever time zone you happen to be in to get the most use. That "day" will end at midnight regardless so, if you don't care or it's not a big deal then don't bother with it - as each new "day" begins it'll just deduct the $3 from the balance on the account till it's out or there isn't enough to refill the day's charge. When you "activate" a day's charge, it's not good for 24 hours from the time you activate it, it's good till midnight in that time zone so, if you enabled it at 11PM you'd only get about 59 minutes of service for the $3... hope that makes sense.
Been using it for a while now, it works fine for me and my purposes, doesn't cost an arm and a leg and there's no practical limit on me given the time I use it. There are a ton of services like Simple Mobile, Straight Talk, and NET10 that say "$50/month unlimited" or $45 or whatever and you have to avoid them because their terms of service has some very tricky fine print in it. Using those services, technically if you fire up iHeartRadio or Pandora or any kind of streaming service at all they can and have been known to just literally kill your service.
Pisses me off to no end when a company puts "unlimited" in their plans and yet then turns around and slaps limitations on your as to how you can use the service.
T-Mobile doesn't do that: it's $3/day and I can do whatever I want with that bandwidth and time. Hell, I even tethered my Photon a few days ago when my Cox cable connection crapped out and I leeched about 7GB of data in a few hours (I live across the street from a T-Mobile tower so I pull about 10Mbps with great stability). No problems doing that so it's a fallback for me if needed.
Ohhh i think i got the whole "midnight data' thing
So its 11PM and i decide to turn on my data , as soon as i do this , 3 bucks are deducted and i got 59 mins of data , cause when i get to 12am its a "new" day , and 3 more bucks will get deducted if i keep using data , am i right?
Those simcard only work for data ? Or they come with a number also?
And when i start using data , it just runs out even thought im not using it right?

Correct on the midnight thing; soon as the clock rolls over to 12:01AM in the time zone you're in, that's another $3 deducted from the balance, good till 12:00AM 23 hours and 59 odd minutes later.
T-Mobile prepaid SIM cards have a number, it's full prepaid phone service for $3/day. Voice, text (SMS/MMS), data, all inclusive.
Not sure what you mean by the running out - if you mean at midnight does it stop, I can't say for sure, never been in the middle of some big download before the midnight rollover, but I'd guess that yes it would stop at that point. Might have to try that sometime if I intend to use the account two days in a row and see if it "rolls over" through the midnight cutoff.
Nevermind on the running out lol , so you dont have to make a call or txt a number to t-mobile to get data running? , just activate data and automatically data starts running ?
Btw , the apn's just shows up in the phone right?

Translation: In New York, you can use a pre-paid SIM from a company called H2O which uses AT&T towers. You can pay either $40 or $50 per month and get unlimited access. If you open their website you can look at their plans. The signal is good in New York, New Jersey as well as Ohio from my personal experience.
Thanks cant say it better

I'm not exactly sure when this started, but my mobile data connection is nearly unusable nowadays. I cannot do pretty much anything that requires a mobile data connection (download apps, play Puzzles and Dragons, [mostly] browse the internet). The only things that do seem to work are Google searches and Amazon. However, if I connect to a VPN or to WiFi, suddenly everything becomes usable again. This leads me to believe that I am being throttled (or something), but I'm not entirely sure about that. Thoughts?
Phone: AT&T HTC One M8, Rooted, Unlocked Bootloader, S-Off - Running the latest edition of Viper ROM
- I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered in) and I get great reception where I live (Full bars of 4G LTE).
Those are the same issues I get when I'm throttled. Jus saying

If you used more than 5 GB of data on the network in your billing month, you are being throttled. But you will typically get a warning SMS from AT&T at 4 GB.
You can check your usage in Settings, and within the top "Wireless & networks" section, pick "More" and select "Data usage". You'll probably need to move the sliders to correspond to your billing start date, and it might not be exactly how AT&T measures it over the network. But this will at least give you an idea.
And my data usage reset today and everything magically works again. On the bright side, AT&T is supposedly going to stop throttling sometime this year. We'll see if that actually happens.

They are supposedly going to change the policy to only throttle during periods of network congestion; not to stop throttling altogether. And the definition of "congestion" seems rather vague, so it might not even make a difference except as a public relations tactic.
Further, AT&T is in the process of trying to dismiss the FTC's lawsuit regarding the throttling (invoking Tier II common carrier clause, which puts them in the jurisdiction of the FCC instead of FTC). So it seems that AT&T is more concerned with bending the rules than doing what is right.
Hi Everyone,
I have LG V30 for around 10 days now and I'm experiencing problem with delayed notification only when I use the mobile data(Viber, WhatsApp, Messenger, Gmail). When I'm using Wi_Fi everything comes right away, but on mobile data I start having delays when I'm connected for more than 5 minutes to it. If i turn it off and back on again, all the missed notifications are coming right away. Battery optimization options are disabled and background data is enabled. I had the problem while using Oreo, made upgrade to PIe via LG Bridge, but still the same thing happens. I tried the phone for 3 hours with SIM card from a different operator and actually every notifications was coming right away, no matter for how long I was connected to the mobile data or if the phone was on Standby for 1 hour. So I guess there is a problem with the mobile network of my service provider, but I just can't understand what can it be. I've already wrote them and I'm waiting for their answer.
Does any of you ever experienced such problem, do you have any idea what can be causing it and how can it be solved? I'm using LG V30 H930.

Sounds like you have done the detective work and narrowed it down to your provider.
Sometimes it depends on if your provider is an actual carrier or is an MVNO (re-seller, re-brander) who uses real carrier's infrastructure, paying a wholesale rate for access, albeit with lower priority. MVNOs re-sell a carrier's service under their own brand, but they don't actually operate a network, they own no towers, own no bandwidth themselves.
Using a MVNO, your calls will be the first to get dropped from LTE to HSPA when the network in congested, and your data will be delayed as the underlying carrier's customers have first priority over the MVNO's customers.
I don't know who your provider is, but here in the U.S. we have 4 major carriers -- and then like 50 - 60 MVNOs who re-sell those carriers' services, promising lower cost while "using the same towers!" as the major carriers. However, the trade off is often throttled speeds, as well as lower call and data prioritization (which they don't mention in their sales pitch). Sometimes you won't even know WHICH carrier your MVNO is using (some use a variety of carriers), while in other cases they are publicly linked.
A few years ago I switched my wife and I from a well-known MVNO to the underlying actual carrier (AT&T) just for those reasons. Last year, I switched my elderly mother from sibling MVNO of that same company to my AT&T account for the same reason.
Her texts would randomly stop working, and texting her family members is one of the joys of her life. She's 89 years old. Now on my carrier account, she has no issues -- even though her MVNO used my carrier network. When she had chronic data problems, I was on the phone with her MVNO for hours, multiple times, and it was torture. (Took forever to get to their Tier 2 support people who actually knew what they were doing.) Here MVNO would get it "fixed", then it would happen again. Once they even sent her a DIFFERENT SIM card to "solve" the issue -- which turned out to not be linked to AT&T, but to T-mobile. What the heck? She lives in rural area, not near any T-mobile towers.
Finally, I just drove her to an AT&T store, handed them my spare USS98 V30 and ported her MVNO number to my AT&T, adding her to my account. Problem solved. No data issues.
I'm from Bulgaria, here we have 3 major carriers - each one with dedicated network. We don't have such MVNO, everyone is using the prime service of one of the three mobile operators. I don't have any issues with the speed, also when I'm in the app I'm receiving everything right away. The problem occurs only when I didn't use the app for a certain time, then the messages starts getting delayed.
