help, phone stuck in airplane mode - HTC EVO 3D

Randomly last night my phone froze and when I finally got it to turn back on (various recovery restore attempts) its stuck in airplane mode. I'm currently using GB MeanRom, the last version and whenever I turn airplane mode off (from holding start menu or settings) it doesn't ever really turn off. Anyone come across this situation or know of a remedy?

anyone?

That's a first. Did you make a nandroid it before it got corrupted?

I'd try dirty flashing the ROM again so you don't have to reinstall everything. If that doesn't work, then I'd backup my apps and do a clean flash.

I tried flashing a nandroid and the rom/new rom (meanrom ics) and still nothing. I'm beginning to think its a hardware issue

Backup all your apps with Titanium Backup then try doing a fresh install! Use superwipe to format your phone then install a fresh rom and see if the problems still persist.

Any luck with this?

Nandroid Backups

i dont know if its just me, but everytime i restore a nandroid backup + ext, it never works the way it did before. Like it often freezes up and then goes into a bootloop when i turn it back on. It doesnt always go into a bootloop tho. I usually have to take out the battery and then restart a couple times for it to boot normally again. Im using the latest version of recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1-update.zip file after having v1.6.2 before.
I have never had the problem you are facing, though I also am still running 1.6.2. Sorry. Could it be that 1.7.0.1 backups are different and you are restoring ROMs that were backed up with 1.6.2?

[Q] Freezes and boot loops after flashing new version of MIUI

I'm a bit stuck here. I've been running MIUI (1.7.9) for a month or so on my OG Droid. I decided that it was time to update. I flashed the latest version (1.9.9), and started restoring apps, data, and system info. Apps and data restored fine. When I restored system information, it just automatically rebooted. Now it gets stuck in a boot loop, where I see the MIUI load screen and then the lock screen. I get maybe 4 seconds before it either freezes or reloads. If I try to reboot in recovery during that time, it freezes during the reboot.
I also can't boot into recover. If I hold down X when starting up, the phone won't turn on. The screen brightens (but stays black) and then goes off. It keeps doing this until I let go of X.
I'm thinking I need to flash an SBF file via Bootloader. I'm a bit paranoid that I'll mess it up. I'm not sure which SBF to use now, and I really don't want to brick this phone if possible.
I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.
how did you solve your problem? i'm in the same situation

what information did you recover?the info might mismatch because the roms differ. Also try flashing a new recovery like cwm or AmonRa
Also if you restored the system directory when you did a restore, its like building two houses on top of each other, its 2 full houses, so both will crash because of the pressure. It probably just installed the system restore on top of the update, did you do a data wipe? Furthermore, if you look in the folder with your backup data, your should only restore the data portion rather than doing a full phone restore! so in the future, do a full wipe before reporting, and also, store the backup in a remote area, but put your data folder back in the original location and install it!

I ended up flashing CWR via an SBF file. It seemed like CWR just got corrupted somehow. From that point, I was able to restore from the nandroid that I created prior to updating. Hope that helps.

Stuck in bootloop (avast)

I installed avast mobile security and set everything up as a root user. I'm on the stock ROM and as soon as I was done setting everything up I rebooted and now Im' stuck in a boot loop. It does not boot loop every time... sometimes it boots up and after about a minute it reboots itself, then bootloops.
I removed avast as an administrator / rebooted / then did a clear data and uninstall. Same thing happens so I booted into amon and did a clear cache and dalvik cache.
I've also booted into Amon and wiped all caches. Still no go and I notice that I'm not getting any signal bars (yes, I remembered to put the cover back on). Any help would be greatly appreciated...

edit: try what the person above me posted first.
Are you on the stock kernel too? I would recommend doing a full nandroid backup and an internal SD card backup and RUU from scratch if you can't get the loops to stop.
I ran avast! for a while with no issues. Could be the link above is what you need.
Thank you all, trying option #1 now. I do have a Nandroid backup I did after I first rooted, and I am on the the stock Kernel.
Holy Cow, it was set to WCDMA Preferred! I'm really surprised that avast changed that setting. I put it back to the correct setting and now my signal is back. I'm rebooting now to see if it sticks.
Thank you all a ton! I'll post back in a few and let you know if that did the trick *fingers crossed*....
Update: Been about 15 minutes and no bootloop or auto reboot so the fix seemed to have worked. Once again, thanks a ton you guys for the help, I appreciate it.
I doubt it was avast that did it. It seems to happen randomly to certain people.

[Q] Vibrant Data partition not formating/wiping

Hi Guys,
I think the internal memory of my wifes phone is dead. Her phone all of the sudden turned off, then it was stuck in a bootloop. I tried to play back a nandroid backup but I always got an error message that the data partition was not being wiped... I used Odin then to flash back to stock and do a repartitioning of the phone. Odin works fine, then the phone reboots trying to apply the new rom, but it stops, telling me that the data partition again could not be formatted.
Is the nand-flash broken or is there a way to make it work? I can only use the download mode now, or use the regular 2e recovery... any tips are highly appreciated.
With the influx if new inexperienced vibe users I must ask, does your device have a stock front facing camera?
Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat...
Lol,
no it does not, it is really the Vibrant T959 not the V not anything else. I am used to flash custom roms. It happened before, even playing Nandroid backups back, most of the time I had to do it twice, since data partition could not be mounted... 2nd try always worked and that was only for this specific phone. I simply guess the flash memory is corrupt...
We've seen some of this.. what rom was she on that fc'd and what rewrite odin files are you flashing? Are you familiar with the encryption Bug?
She was using the Passion Rom, v13.1 with Touchkernel 8.2 and the data.fix.
The phone had this problem like 3 times already. It simply shuts down, when you turn it back on, bootloop. Only thing that helped was playing a nandroid backup back. When doing this, nandroid already had problems mounting the data partition, so I had to flash it twice to go through.
This time, the 3rd time, the phone told me about a failed data encryption... this time, no nandroid backup is working, due to failing data partition.
When I Odin back to Elcair, I use the PIT file that comes with the AIO Toolbox and the Elcair Rom for Odin. I set the phone into download mode, Odin gets a connection to my phone. Then i select the PIT and PDA files, enable re-partition,autoreboot and F.reset time. I flash, everything works fine, Odin is done, the phone reboots, but then I get the red error message telling me that formatting the data partition did not work.
I did read about that ICS bug and about the workaround, but this kinda only works if you still have a working phone? Or did I get something wrong?
Yep. Sounds like EU bug. You'll find lots of info on that and things to try to get around it.
I'd go to Google and type in: XDA Samsung Vibrant encryption Unsuccessful and see what it brings up.
Happy trails and good luck!
Not sure if it is EU, sounds similar. Hers the work around guide

[Q] Can't factory reset, faulty flash?

Hi,
I have some problems with my i9300 running newest nightly of CM11.
A few days ago my phone started to reboot without any reason. This kept on going 15-20 times. It had me insert my PIN, then during start-up the phone just rebooted.
After rebooting 15-20 times, it now runs for some hours when I only do standby and phoning.
I thought, maybe it's a problem with the Rom and I should just do a clean install. I have used the CM updater for quite a while updating the nightlies, so maybe it's not the worst idea installing a CM11 on a "fresh" system.
Okay, I fired up Titanium backup to backup my apps.. but Titanium could not find my license. Okay, I thought maybe it was a problem with Titanium, so I tried Helium. Helium also didn't find my license key. So, I think there is something wrong with the license handling. Nevertheless, I backuped up all my apps except two apps. Whenever Helium tried to back them up, the phone rebooted.
After backing up I booted into CWM recovery to do a factory reset / full wipe. But when I select factory reset, it says "Formatting /DATA", stays for 1-2 seconds and then the phone reboots. Have tried it some times, but nothing helps. I can't do a factory reset.
I used eMMC brickbug check, this went fine and reported no errors.
When I go to Settings/Storage, the phone reboots. When I go to Settings/Apps, the phone reboots. When I try to uninstall one of the two faulty apps (I think there is some more going wrong than just these two apps) using another uninstaller, the phone reboots.
I don't know what else I can do or where the error is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. tia!

Unplanned shut down (instant reboot) can corrupt partitions. This can also be a symptom of nand damage.
Try flashing a full stock firmware with Odin, if that fails then use the rescue firmware and pit -search in general forum.
Factory reset after flash and before first boot.
Yeah, it worked. Thanks a lot.
Flashed stock rom with Odin, then it was possible to do a factory reset. Afterwards just flashed CWM recover and CM11 and restored my backup..
Have lost some data because not all apps could be backed up, but nevertheless, it seems to work like out of the box
