Use CHECKFUS and download stock firmware and install via ODIN is the easy method for ant current firmware .

I9300XXALEF i tried searching this in the checkfus and it cant be found. Im trying to find a firmware that had the same info as my last one. Does baseband really matter too? And does it come bundled on the firmware?

hello ,
1. for wipe dalvik you can use olso titanium backup
2. for ful wipe use clkwr and
-go to recovery
-wipe data factory reset ,press yes,done..after this go
-recovery ,wipe case ,press yes ,done.
-recovery ,advanset ,wipe dalvic case ,press tes ,done
This is full wipe and after this you can flash a new rom
If you want to make wipe for beter battery life you can do wipe dalvic case and fix battery status from recovery/advansent/fix battery status
I have made all this for many times ,hop to help you.....

Hello , there is a very useful app that i use all the time ,this is (sd made apk) and with this you can clean corpsfinder files and unesesery thinks from system and sd card, olso you can clean the apps that you have instal on your system (not unistal only clean)
After this no need to make full wipe ....only if you have problemes ,crash or you want to flash new rom ....

If you want to make wipe for beter battery life you can do wipe dalvic case and fix battery status from recovery/advansent/fix battery status
100% wrong battery stats has no bearing on your battery life .

CWM Manager is an app to be used for recovery management..It is not fully compatible with CWM 6.0.1.2..Use CWM to reboot into recovery..From there choose the options as JJ has said..

I flash all 100% by Odin, when I restart the phone the old rom it is the same before

I flash all 100% by Odin, when I restart the phone the old rom it is the same as before.
All isntalo app after reset back to its previous state.
Anyone have any idea of what can be??
I am with the 3.0 rom villainrom
check in phone settings the version, if is villainrom or not
Also notice that most roms looks exactly like the stock one, but with hidden tweaks.
If you sure 100% the rom didnt installed, you prolly missed / done something wrong from the install instructions.
Anyway villainrom is a clockworkmod package if im not wrong, not a odin package that's prolly the problem
From villainrom thread:
"VillainROM Installation Instructions
To follow these instructions we presume you already have access to Clockworkmod recovery, and are able to put the zip file onto the SD card, and flash it."

The rom is the flash 3.0 villainrom own by cwm. .. Zip
everything I do, factory reset wipe, wipe Dalvik cash, everything seems ok at the time, but after a reset back to normal 5 days ago.
Never leave the rom villainrom, I can flash any rom either by Odin as the cwm and when reset back to the state five days ago.
I ask the descuplas very bad English.
So if i understand, dosnt matter what rom you flash, you always end up to have villainrom installed?
Weird.
Try to odin flash a stock rom and see if it overwrite the villain.

[Q] What to do when changing ROMs

Hi,
I currently have the Exynos 7.2 (XXKI4) and I'm tried to change to the HyperAndroid Androidmeda ROM but I got in a bootloop. Should I go back to stock ROM then try to put the HyperAndroid?
There's another question that's been bugging me, what is all the KF2, KI4, KE2, etc? does it matter which one i use when going back to stock? is there a preferred one for Bell SGS2?
Thanks

Try XXKI3 get it from xda
I always use titanium backup for apps and data backup and after flashing rom I'll wipe data for better matching.

By this you mean that you wiped everything after flashing? Of course you will get a bootloop then. Your rom is wiped.
Flash the rom again and you are good to go.

backup everything using Titanium Backup, and then do a factory reset (from the phone's menu).
go into recovery and a complete wipe again (factory/data + cache + dalvik) and flash the rom you want.
if it doesn't work, revert back to a stock rom using Odin (I use KE7 since it has the old bootloader so I can get rid of the yellow triangle with a Jig).
use Odin to flash CF-Root's kernel. Then go into recovery, wipe everything and flash the rom of choice.
This procedure worked for me a couple of times.
thanks for all the help! Everything turned out great

[Q] help please

Is there any way to reset the phone completely, to be just like when i got it the first time? I have flashed hell of a lot of roms on it and now i would like to wipe the slate clean. Is there any way to do it? I know about factory reset. Is it enough for wiping the slate clean.
I don't know much about the software behind the processes and i would like to know if the phone is being damaged everytime i flash a new rom? And would flashing the stock rom reset all the system files?
And i confess, I am a noob. I would be happy if someone can point me in the right direction.
From what I understand if you wipe data, cache and dalik cache in cwr and flash the stock rom it souls be to wen you got it if you want more peace of mind flash it to a earlier rom and do I upgrade using your phones software program to the latest software there is no damage done, the only thing (well on my type of phone atleast) it might have a glad counter which tells hoe many times its bin flashed but I think that can be reset with a USB jig

Flash your carrier's offical rom from here via ODIN. Wipe data first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278.
Then you can use usb jib(if original was GB) or Chainfire's Triange away from Market to reset the counter.

ROM Flashing

I have successfully flashed the Omega ROM to my S3 using a combo of Odin and then CWM. It is running fine but I have been advised to upgrade to a BLFB or CM9 based ROM as I am currently using one based on ALEx and it's more of a battery drainer.
However, I am anxious to do this without first knowing if I need to flash it some other state first before upgrading. Or can I just download, backup, factory reset/cache reset and go ahead and flash the new ROM/Baseband etc?
If there is a step to step guide for this I'd appreciate the link.

How to factory reset

Hi guys,
Can someone help me with a factory data reset? Im having horrific battery problems since updating OTA from ICS to JB. I've tried all the usual suggestions and am getting nowhere so i understand a lot of folks do a factory data reset and it helps some..
So the current status of my device is stock ROM and rooted with CF. I have titanium installed. If i understand this correctly i need to is it backup all apps individually from within Titanium?
Is it then just a case of clicking factory data reset from within the S3 menu? I guess I'm on a custom recovery and not stock recovery because im rooted with CF? Does this make any difference to the factory data reset procedure?
Many thanks

Yes, just click it and you will have brand new jelly bean, but still rooted. Install titanium and restore all necessary applications. I did factory reset two day ago.
there are 2 ways to factory reset..
1. from the settings menu (i am sure you are aware of this)
2. from recovery; stock recovery or cwm recovery
if you are wondering what a cwm recovery is, it is a custom recovery for rooted phones.. so you can go over at the Original Development section and find the thread for this recovery.. you will have to use odin to flash

Great. Were you rooted before you did the reset? So having a custom recovery (if i have one as i'm rooted) wont effect this? All the titanium backups of the apps i take [presumably are fine as there stored on the SD card which doesn't get touched during factory data reset. Is this right?
Thanks guys

you can still do a factory reset within the menu OR do a factory reset through Recovery (either Stock or Custom)
but since you are rooted, it is rather suggested to flash a custom recovery such as CWM Recovery

Great thanks for that. As I'm not really used to flashing things hence my noob questions. I rebooted into CWM and i can see the wipe date /factory reset option. Are there any other options i should run here i.e. wipe cache partition?
Final question after i do the wipe data/ factory reset im left with a clean build of JB with no apps or anything installed - i just pull these back from titanium 1 by 1 i guess?

For anyone who is interested the factory reset sorted my battery. I am now back to loosing approx 1% per hour overnight on 3g only (weakish signal), wifi off, location services on, google now off, fb, gmail push on. As good as it was before the JB update. I reckon a lot of folks will need to go down this route as its widespread about the JB battery issue. Luckily i was rooted so with titanium restore i got everything the way i wanted in only an hour or 2 - without it you could be tweaking apps for hours i.e. handsent sms!!
