This phone is cdma based. Is lte always cdma based? I want to use it on 3 in sweden. They only have UMTS so it probably wont work at all?
Hope this hasn't been asked before. I'm on android xda app so my search is very limited. Thanks.

Hello everyone, how is it going?
I am seeing too many CDMA versions of EVO 3D and i just wondered what are the differences GSM version and CDMA version. Their software is different, sense 3 is different, its writing HD IMAGE under CDMA's camera and i think there are many...
Can you tell me the differences detailed?
Thanks from now.

CDMA handsets don't use Sim cards I believe and are 4G enabled so the software to run them is different GSM are sim based and run on the 2g (gsm) and 3g (WCDMA) network. This is why the dev bases are different.

Hardware difference. Tmobile and ATT are gsm and Verizon and sprint are cdma. And so on and so on. U can not use a gsm device on a cdma network or vice versa

Hmm... So there is no difference about hardware?
Can't we flash cdma Rom to GSM version? Because I think CDMA 's software(sense 3 is better, smoother) is much more beautiful
Is there anyone used both of them, GSM version and CDMA version of EVO ?

Afraid not I don't know a massive amount but I know if u flash a cdma ROM on gsm u will brick your device. I believe the hardware is different to run in the different networks.

Do that roms have sense ?
I think rom without sense looks bad in a htc.

Ok, thanks my friend. Don't forget to check my video about my lag issue.
How would I go about modifying a GSM ics telephony apk to work with a gingerbread radio? We have a working cm9 rom for the Atrix 2 but the only problem is that its a cdma rom so it won't work with the Atrix 2's GSM radio. I know I will have to make some build prop changes for atts rils but what else would I need?

Are there any gsm patches for JB CDMA based ROMs?
Almost every jb room had a gsm patch
There are some talented people making it possible for us gsm users to run jb roms. Check out the development threads you'll find what you're after

The CM 10.1 GSM patch in this thread seems to just contain an APN list, along with a minor update to the build.prop. Is there a real difference between the GSM and CDMA ROMs, aside from the APN configuration? Will every ROM run a GSM SIM if you simply use an APN tool to update the APN list?
Plain and simple: GSM Rom versions are for people who do not use Verizon.

I appreciate the reply, but I am obviously inquiring about the technical differences between the two. To reiterate: "Is there a real difference between the GSM and CDMA ROMs, aside from the APN configuration? Will every ROM run a GSM SIM if you simply use an APN tool to update the APN list?"

If the ROM supports GSM, which pretty much all do. CM10.x and all its derivatives do, with the GSM patch. Some even have gsm functionality built in, like PACman. It works natively on all the sense based ROMs (both sense 4+ and 5 android 4.1, as well as sense 5 android 4.2) as far as I know. You just need to input the APNs.
I am a Verizon user, so I can speak from experience. This is just what I have found from around the forums.
