text typing problems - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

when typing a message on forums etc on my xperia s the predictive text etc all goes weird when i hit space, like it i typed what and press space whatt would appear it would add another end letter to the word. Word would be wordd etc. I cleared my saved words and this still happens

Are you sure you're not hitting one of the letters near the space bar like c v b n? I sometimes do this when typing quickly, some timesvicendbup with something like that! Then it automatically adds that garbled word to the dictionary

Try swift key.

I don't like swiftkey, there's no tab key. A common omission of many third party keyboards

Hey
First of all, it's not ROM issue its from ICS
We all have the same issue. It's so annoying especially i send many message everyday.
Actually you either need to install and use new keyboard. Swiftkey is the best as you hold the similes key and then you hit enter and you will be moved to another line (other keyboards may not work and will see only the similes key)
OR you have to use another SMS app. Go SMS Pro is great and no similes key there).
I hope developer will find solution for ICS SMS app
For me it solved the issue by using Swiftkey Keyboard. It's great and u will get to used on it quickly and better than stock keyboard

Im actually on FoxHound atm but had some keyboard bugs about 2 months ago. I read some reviews around xda and decided to give swiftkeyX a go. Extremely happy user, worth the money just for word recognition but it has been great for me. Flawless.

How to enable three dot menu in ICS apps?

I don't like how the S3 has included a menu button and it now causes apps that have updated to the ICS framework to look weird eg the Gmail app.
So is there anyway to force this back please?

Please define "weird". They look fine to me
Just looks too spaced out and it's not as functional, it's nice to have the menu button in apps like the play shop and Google chrome etc

Well the whole reason for it not being there is because it's got it's own fully dedicated button roughly 0.5cm below where you're looking.

Personally I detest the on screen buttons and menu options that are rampant with ICS and Jelly Bean. That's one of the negatives about the One X as well.
We get these phones with larger screens and they want to take up 25% of it with things than be better handled with actual physical buttons.
Glad Samsung went with what they did.

Stock Keyboard am I crazy?

Am I crazy or is the Samsung Keyboard garbage? It does word prediction but doesn't auto correct... WTF?!?! Or am I missing something here?
Go to settings and then go to language and input there you click on the tool box on the side of Samsung keyboard

Nothing in there for auto correct... I just downloaded the Jelly Bean 4.2 Keyboard but now I don't have my numbers on the keyboards "Home"
Your not crazy my friend. Mine wont auto correct either. Setting are set for predictive text but like u said it doesnt actually apply the correction.

Yel its annoying that there isnt a numbers row but I've got used to long processing the top row in which the alpha characters are shared with numbers.
Its not bad once you get used to it

Yeah I'm used to it too but I feel we are wasting a lot of real estate here on this other keyboard... Maybe smile faces... Hmm there's a good idea

My keyboard has numbers across the top...or am i not understanding your post? I absolutely love this keyboard just becauseof that feature.
I downloaded perfect keyboard to get autocorrect back but then you lose the ability to use the pen for input
This is pretty crappy on samsung's behalf. A keyboard without autocorrect?

intelinside83 was referring to the lack of a number row on the stock Android 4.2 keyboard. The stock Samsung keyboard is quite different, including the inclusion of the number row.

This really is quite silly of Samsung. The keyboard has auto prediction and in my experience the auto prediction works quite well. The problem is that the keyboard will only input what you actually type regardless of whether or not it's correct. If you want to enter a predicted word you have to tap it yourself. I can't imagine it would be too difficult for Samsung to change the keyboard to favor the top predicted word, which would essentially be auto correct.
I'm still using the Samsung keyboard though because I'm getting along with the Swiftkey flow integration rather nicely.

I'm actually really happy for the number row since I use numbers frequently and it was a pain having to constantly toggle it on/off. And, that auto-correction is disabled as I usually disable it any. Just had to turn off auto-spacing and auto-capitalization because it was wreaking havoc on authenticating into web sites like this one as it was adding a space in-between my password. Good riddance I say...

It is reported that upcoming 4.1.2 (not 4.2) enhancements will include integrated "swyping" functionality into the keyboard so it wouldnt make sense for them not to rectify the autocorrection issue.

Did the stock Sammy JB keyboard in the GS3 have no autocorrect either? Or does that phone still run ICS?
I might just have to switch to Swiftkey or Thumb Keyboard again - but that number row is GREAT - it is hard to turn away from it.
Yeah I went back to the stock samsung keyboard just cuz of the numbers... silly but I'm loving it! Just hooing for auto-correction. Maybe if they dont fix it someone will come out with a 3rd party with numbers!
Tappin from my Marble White Note II
Yup, no autocorrect. I'm using Swiftkey now.
It seems the Samsung keyboard is actually a variation of the swiftkey flow. I wonder if it's something to do with that. The flow part works pretty well and I love the number row

You can use 3rd party messaging app like go sms pro, it has the option for bigger and wider the area where you type your messages so you won't be scroll anymore.

[Q] Hold Home Button Help

I noticed that when I hold down the home button of my Xperia Z Ultra, a semi-circle pops up and shows a round "Google Now" icon in the middle of the semi-circle. Is there anyway to add more icons on the circle? Or even to change it? Your kind help would be most appreciated. I can't find the answer anywhere.
Nope, not unless you're running a custom ROM (as far as i know). Are you constantly swiping your finger up from the home button though? I can't really see how that's possible
