Hi guys,
what kind of battery time are you getting if you dont use the power saving feature?
i always had it on with the only option enabled being the CPU reduction and my phone worked nicely holding on for 1.5days.Also it never got warm or anything.
After seeing the fluidity of the new iphone5 i thought... hang on, SG3 is supposedly much faster or just as fluid! So i took the power saving off, and CPU to its full potential, and hey, the phone works very fast... BUT, i got it down to 15% by the end of the day pretty easily and the phone got warm at the area of the processor and now it always does with the CPU working as it should.
Im really impressed with the fluidity of the SG3 having it from june of 2012, but id hoped that it wouldnt have to be that quick on the battery or that hot when in use that way.
Is all that normal?
I get around 15-16 hour inn an average.

my fone gets hot every now and then even in power saving mode. Works for 10 hours or less.
And if i play games or surf on net then boom! Battery gone!

Seldom I used that feature. I'm getting 24h+ with wifi on, 18h+ data on
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Getting one day (about 16 hours) with about 20% left with heavy usage. The cpu is getting a bit warm at heavy games, but never hot.
This stats are at the jb leaks, at ics where about 40% left.
Never used power saving mode.

Just wanted to see what others are getting for battery life.
Name the rom you are on, your typical use, and tips for others to squeek out your awesome battery life.

Huge sign of not using your phone
Guess you using the app to take your screen brightness down to 1 on top of that?

gb, but custom kernels with undervolting with increase battery even more. ICS will be even better once source drops and we have custom kernels for that as well. This is because ics can clock lower and still be smooth due to the gpu rendering that is finally integrated, and should've been done that way since day one. But until then definitely gb.
^^^this... Was getting 4+ hours screen time and 1 day 4hrs battery with GB. that was on the oc'd Rom @ 1.82 with undervolting everything below 1.5 and over volting 1.82.

The leaked ICS ROMs had very poor battery life for me.
My best battery life on GB was 13 hours with 6 hours of screen time.
On ICS, my best was 5 hours of screen time on Noteworthy Beta 2. Only did 1 charge cycle, though.

It depends honestly. Somedays with ics i have high standby drain and apps galore sucking my battery down, other days I get almost 4 hours screen time.
Dags alpha2 seems a bit better than alpha1. I dunno about seraphim, I promptly returned to to alpha1 once I seen baby blue text on white in my apps.
I'd rather keep charging than deal with GB.

What are you under volting 1.5 and below to? And when you say what you are over volting 1.82 is it the only one over 1.5 that you are over volting or are you over volting everything from 1.5 to 1.82?
Also can you list what you're over volting and under volting to? I'd like to try to see if I can get the same results.

Currently on ics alpha 2 so no kernel to do this.
When on GB i was using DaG's OC kernel (or dagr8's sorry getting them confused right now, tired will check and edit l8r). J only overvolted the 1.82 setting. As for undervolting i pretty much looked ar what cpuspy said were the most used and using systemtuner set those down one notch on the slider. The ones used less frequently i set 1-2 notches down on slider. only methodology i used and was done over a period of time pushing to see if any problems/fc's occurred. Never really got to the point where that occurred as the ics leak came out and i jumped to it. Did not make a screen capture of system tuner settings or keep a list of final changes.
Oh yeah, i also get the min frequency to 192 and that seemed to quite a bit especially when apps were forcing 'stay awake' mode. That, i feel, is the biggest difference between my GB battery life and ics. I can get 1 day out of ics with 3-4 hours screen time but sometimes an app will force stay awake and the drain is quicker.
Biggest battery saver for me is using wife vs lte. <<wifi i mean word completion error but don't mind using wife sometimes too

Hello.... from Windsor Ontario Can on the Rogers Wireless network using GB SauRom Rom. .... on the stock 2500mAh battery I get 4hrs if I'm lucky with the screen @ 25% and the chips @ 1.5gHz.....
How in the world are you guys getting more than that?? I stream HD Video most of the time.... don't make any calls and surf.... most of the day I'm on WiFi.... I have no idea how you get these times of over 4hrs... I'm lucky if I reach 4hrs.....
All good now though. ... now I have 2 batteries @ 5000mAh & 1 battery @ 5200mAh so now I'm @ 1.7 or 1.8gHz and I'll get 7hrs ......then I'll Swap to the stock battery for when involution of work.....

If I use the 5000mAh batteries at home they last pretty much all day but most of the time I only use them at work.... feels too bulky in public. ..... I could get the 3060mAh batteries that are the same size as stock in eBay..... but at like $10-12 for the 5000mAh batteries it's all good. .... I have almost unlimited power... so I'm OC at 1.8 most of the time. ...lol
They should start building these phones with Huge Screens with Solar Cells to charge on the fly.... I know there's one out there already but never really took off.... these phones need those Solar Cells........

Ffs can we not have a battery life thread started every single day?
Battery life is the most subjective thing, it all depends on how you use your phone, what apps you have installed running in the background, what you have synced, location services. Etc...
No 2 people well have the same drain.
I'm on stock ROM and subscribe to Rogers Toronto. I get about 4 hours too.... My usage sounds similar to yours as well. Thanks I will pick up extra battery soon.

Hey
If you've lost 20% with your screen on constantly for an hour and a half and played a battery hungry game for 10 mins then I'd say you're getting average battery performance.
That side, you can hardly give it definitive answer Based on the info you've given. My advice is to grab Better Battery Stats from Play Store and run your phone normally for a couple of days.
The big problem with this phone is that it's impossible to put down though

looks normal to me for continue use.. screen, wifi, etc on almost the entire hour and a half. once the device goes idle/sleep the "awake" bar should not be blue, otherwise if it stays blue that means a app or something is keeping it awake.

Battery drain is not a little worse. It is significantly worse, using all the same settings on JB as I did with ICS. I don't personally consider turning off LTE a fix, as a lot of us, including myself, bought the phone for LTE, waited ages for Sprint to actually get the towers functioning, and now, I have to disable it? It just started working in LA Metro consistently, 1-2 weeks ago. Unacceptable.
Now, we all get to wait for months for the next update, which will fix 5 things and break 10?
Watch... The 4.2 update will be pushed out OTA as soon as the new EVO is released, which makes this EVO look lik an abacus.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I've been using Stock rooted deodexed, Stock with goodies and SuperJELLY roms, and I feel the battery as good as before the JB update, or maybe better
Mines definitely worse. I have no numbers or data to back that up with, except that before the update my phone would sleep for hours with very little drain. Now it drains several percent every hour while sleeping. And yes, it is sleeping. Generally speaking I'm unhappy with this update and wish I would've remained on ics.

My battery was losing about 10%per hour whereas before the update it was about 6%. I did a factory reset last night so I'm hoping that will help. Incidently, after I did this I noticed that I was able to assign hepatic feedback for the capacitive buttons (it was grayed out after the update) and the setting toggles are now blue. So the reset must have fixed some glitches.

Well, I feel it does its job well. The point is to be efficient as possible depending in usage. No matter what, it isn't gonna give you hours of extra on screen time. I feel its main purpose is to manage the battery better when ur NOT using ur phone. So far, I haven't used my phone much other then to read some texts, emails and xda and this is what my battery looks like right now.
Best day Ive had was a 21 hour day with moderate usage (YouTube, texting, emails, minor gaming). That was after letting batteryguru was out of learning mode.

Last day without Battery Guru I had 7% remaining after 15 hours and 53 minutes. First day post-learning mode, I had 13% remaining after 15 hours and 49 minutes with 3 hours and 3 minutes of screen on time. Sadly, I didn't have the correct app to determine how much screen on time I had on the first measurement, but I use my phone about the same way every day.
My biggest complaint with Battery Guru is it forces WiFi on when I'm on the road. I'm not seeing a big enough improvement to get excited about and think that me just toggling WiFi on my own will be just as effective.
On a side note, my daughters phone had 3 hours of screen on time and her phone lasted only 11 hours. She has the Droid Razr HD which comes with a 2530 mAh battery whereas the DNA only has 2020 mAh. Quite impressive for the DNA especially considering the larger, true HD screen and quad core processor.
